The Wolf Among Us is one of the best games that I have played in years. Telltale Games has nailed down decision making in an interactive adventure. I can't wait to see what's next.

Stricken with grief and despair fables must now stick together in their dwindling numbers battling their own demons. In the game the Player assumes the role of Bigby Wolf a 1940's noire style detective formerly known as the big bad wolf a former antagonist on his path to redemption to protect the people he swears to serve, however this proves no easy task for Bigby, who struggles to win the trust of the fabletown community especially when one of those who he swore to protect turns up dead. With real grit and clever story arcs with interesting characters The wolf among us is an great game with great dialogue opportunities and interesting characters, However what lets the game down in saying that is the otherwise rushed conclusion towards the end of the story and decline of character quality of the series that at sometimes becomes noticeable usually, passed of as character development. Overall the game is great and in my second play-through on the Xbox One first being PC definitely holds up its worth Expand

The Story follows The Big Bad Wolf as the roll of sheriff in "Fable Town" witch is where almost all Fables now live, Fables like "Snow White", The Huntsman , Trolls and Etc. This many fables being in one place so close together does not make life easy for them...Drugs and Crime have become a big part of there society and end up having control over most fables.
The Storyline it's self is one of a kind and kept surprising me left and right, With such an imaginative world to explore and with so many people to interact with it leaves you without a shortage of dialog. It's great being able to have conversations with Beauty or the Beast about there relationship and have them seem like somewhat normal people, I feel like situations like this is what makes this game special...Like where else will you get that?
Altogether anyone who was a fan of any of the Walking Dead, Game of Thrones or Borderlands TellTale Games Need to play "The Wolf Among Us" I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In the 1990’s games were different, storyline played a huge part of any interaction and point and click adventure games were the pinnacle of quality, fast forward 20 years and we find the pinnacle of quality placed at the feet of RPG’s where storylines are given a new lease of life and the gamer in encouraged to create their own destiny. The Wolf Among Us looks at that balance and decides it’s time for a reboot of point and click and it creates a book like experience around conversation, action and user intuition.

The game itself is comic book stylish (not polished), it requires you to focus and it breaks the mold in terms of what we expect from games. The game begins with you playing a sheriff character who it turns out is the Wolf from past stories/fables; as the Wolf you meet Toad, the Woodsman and a plethora of other characters while you try and solve a murder that has occurred in Fable Town.
Conversations have multiple answers and the emphasis is on you finding out the truth through questioning, character interaction is varied and interesting, there are some fight scenes which require a sequence of buttons to be pressed and though slow the game has moments of humour as well as a drive and discovery.
In all truth adventure games have never played this well or looked as good and Telltale should be recognised for their efforts. There are some glitch moments, which is odd for a story game, but all in all the game plays well, looks great, tells a great story and is definitely captivating.
As a lover of story based games this is a fantastic effort from Telltale, frustratingly bad language will stop a younger generation from enjoying this spectacle but for the rest of us, the older lot perhaps, the Wolf Among Us is a game which reboots storytelling and adventure games in a high quality manner and brings the mainstream closer to a gaming genre which used to set the standard.

It's definitely worth your time and at sub £15 it's well worth your money. A solid 8.6, which is why I gave it 9.

I don't expect too much from games that I download for free, but this game blew me away. With graphics that remind you of Borderlands, and a similar play style to the Walking Dead game series, this game will have you hooked almost instantly. It has an awesome story line that plays off of the Fable comics series that is broken down into different episodes and chapters. It quickly develops characters that you will either sympathize with or hate which plays great into how the game is played.

The game plays like a crime mystery where you investigate many crime scenes searching for clues. In almost every scene, the player is left to make his or her own decisions that are going to directly affect the story line. This ranges from being nice or rude in conversation or walking away instead of ripping someones limb off. It also makes you chose which areas you think are most important to investigate and which leads you think make the best sense to follow up on. After each episode, the game recaps what you chose to do and how that stacks up against what everyone else in the community chose to do. (This made me realize the Xbox Live community really prefers violence over liberalism LOL)

This game is not for someone who's looking for something challenging, skillful or action packed. It's for someone who's looking for a great story and the ability to affect the outcome with a series of decisions. The story and characters are so well done by DC Comics that it feels like a movie that I am deciding the outcome of.

Along the five episodes you would find a very well told story and meaningful dialogs. On the not so good side we can mention that the story is not as emotional as the walking dead, neither the weight of the decisions and in my personal opinion, the end was not as though as I expected. But there is no doubt that this is an incredible game with the "Telltale style". Expand

Where fairy-tale creatures and legends have been exiled out of their home world and must live in secrecy in the late 20th century dealing disputes in their community which can be either political or physical. TWAU is a prequel to the comics set a couple of years or months before (it is never really specified) the comics. To try and avoid spoilers I will not divulge any details about the story other than it is brilliant because of its dark themes and unbelievable deep backstory. If you have played a Telltale game before you will understand what you are doing you walk around talk to people and look at objects and often are presented with the odd quick time event which might sound like a bad thing. However, Telltale deal with QTEs intelligently allowing players to select certain paths in the fight which could cause an aesthetical difference to the player character or the environment. TWAU has a very distinct visual style which from how I would describe it would seem like it wouldn’t work but it does work, amazingly I might add, and this style gives the game a very purple tint to it all so just trust me it looks amazing especially with the power of the new gen consoles which up the resolution of the game and the frame rate however the parts where the game just stops to load are still present and more glaringly obvious which the improved frame rate. But other than that the game is still amazing and anyone who hasn’t at least tried a Telltale game this is in my opinion a good starting point as it bridges the gap in-between fighting or violent games to Telltale games plus the first episode starts with an all-out brawl which can’t be a bad thing. For people who are familiar with the game you are probably wondering why I stayed away from mentioning characters and that is because in Telltale games everyone has their own opinion about certain characters and their opinions will affect how you play the game so saying something about them seemed pointless as I would be forcing my verdict on how you should treat the characters when you should be treating them how you feel like because that is how Telltale do it. But what I will say is you play as the Big Bad Wolf so yeah you are badass and who doesn’t like being a bad ass in games. In conclusion this game is incredible dark and mysterious yet still retaining the gameplay elements we all know and love from Telltale games. Expand

    Great HIstory but non-existent game

They make a good history, making great cliffhangers at the end of every episode.
It's based on the Fable series from Vertigo comics.

The problem is that the game part are only 30 minutes and the game lenght is about 12 hours of videos.

Telltale's follow up and way of capitalizing on the success of their Walking Dead game proves to be another fantastic story. It's a fantastic bit dark noir with a fairy tale theme. Even as someone unfamiliar with the Fables comics in which this game is based on I still felt fully invested in it's world. Prior reading isn't required to fully understand or enjoy the game.

Even as someone unfamiliar with the Fables comics in which this game is based on I still felt fully invested in it's world. Prior reading isn't required to fully understand or enjoy the game.

Just like previous Telltale games there are a lot of choices to be made. There are dark moral dilemmas that are up to you decide the outcome of. Not only that, but you are also choosing exactly what kind of person the playable character "Bigby" is.

Do you give into the dark urges of the wolf beneath the skin? Or do you try to redeem yourself as the cop who plays things by the rules? No matter what kind of person you shape Bigby to be you are rewarded. It feels good to do the "right" thing, but it's just as satisfying to give into your violent tendencies. Especially when dealing with the scumbags of Fabletown.

Restraint or excessive force? That's for you to decide. With incredible writing brought to life by fantastic voice acting, incredibly satisfying action sequences, and a gripping mystery all the way through, Telltale's wolf delivers just as much as their zombies. If you can overlook the technical issues the game delivers in just about every way. It's a dark and mature tale. One shaped by your actions. A game I highly recommend checking out.

My only real gripes are the performance issues (which required me to reload the game multiple times after the entire thing bugged out), and the fact that the game's ending felt a little bit abrupt and wasn't entirely satisfying, but providing a season 2 comes around, any story concerns will likely be made moot. To put this into an example , after playing TWD, TFTBL, and GOT, I did not buy the comics or merchandise, but after this game, I bought all the Volumes of Fables, including the Comic adaptation of this game. Telltales decision making games have always been solid but what has generally made them better than average is their amazing choices of stories to tell. The bad:
Very short game. If you don't connect with the characters or the story you may leave it. The game being a prequel to the first Fables story does not bother to bring up the situation or give it context as the game or the creators of the game "believe / believe" that you are familiar with the Fables universe. Being a prequel many of the characters are invented for this story (characters that were scrapped for the story of the comic, but with the success of this game they had to get their comic version). Personally I think it is the simplest point and click of all, so if you are looking for a challenge or something very difficult, this game may disappoint you. Even with its comic aesthetic the game (and the comic) is not for children.

    Lo Meh:
The TellTale people took a huge risk by launching a well-known but not a well-known comic book character game based on classic tales. And not the Disney princesses do not belong to Disney they are commercial versions of fables, legends and tales of the public domain and of expired copyright, I comment it because a certain Snow White comes out ... There is a disturbing moment (well there is several throughout the game) that being a prequel, those who know and have read the comic loses all impact.
