Hearts of Stone allows us to revisit the world of The Witcher and introduces new characters, points of interest and, most importantly, a new story line.

The quality is equivalent to the stand a lone game; in other words, absolutely fantastic. The story is extremely well-written, with brilliant twists that reveal themselves throughout the course of the expansion. Likewise, the characters are complex, often blurring the lines between what we perceive to be good and evil. The new area, an extension of Velen, is wonderfully designed, really making the world of The Witcher feel alive.

Perhaps the best comparison to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Hearts of Stone is your favourite book. You are the main protagonist in your own story. It is nothing short of a masterpiece and I hope that this game defines future video games.

The main story is gripping and some of the stuff they have do is very creative. The DLC really tries to show the lighter side of Geralt throughout most of the main storyline and how he's bound by his fate to the path he walks. It's fun and adds a ton to the lore of the game. And while the gameplay is almost untouched, with the only addition not really adding anything necessary to the game, it's still very polished and very smooth to play. For fans of The Witcher 3, and especially those who love the story, this is wonderfully made and at a great price. It doesn't do anything new or creative but there's a ton here for people who already like this game to jump back in to this world. I definitely recommend this to anyone who's played the main game. What i most love about the add-on is that, like the base content, it's not afraid to keep you from combat for extended periods. There are a lot of social moments in Hearts of Stone, and unlike in similar games, these moments are not just five minute vignettes - but rather hour-long events full of intrigue and humour.

Hearts of Stone ads about 10 hours and tons of greatness we got from the main game, more undiscovered locations, treasure hunts, side quests, boobs, new enemies, new loot, and 13 trophies.
This is unfortunately just more of the same, most of this dlc is more side quest feely than something that could stand on its own.
We do however now have the ability to enchant our armor and weapons.
The recommended level to start this dlc is 30.
You can start the new dlc with your older save or with a premade level 32 geralt.
Hearts of Stone Starts out with Geralt killing a giant toad, only problem is, this toad is a prince.
Geralt is in a bit of trouble, or is he?
He gets some help and now you have to spend the rest of the game clearing your debt by being David beckhams genie.
You set out into the for the most part new locations to grant his seemingly impossible 3 wishes.
You’ll end up doing a heist, find yourself in a painted world, solving puzzles, and taking on some pretty great bosses.
There are quite a few awesome bosses, so you won’t be missing the lack of contracts too much, but these bosses are nowhere near as awesome as they are in the main game.
Hearts of Stone in my opinions starts off a bit slow, but once you get over the initial hump 3 hour hump, the much better 2nd half of the dlc and its story will have you hooked.
I loved the new characters introduced, I loved solving the mystery behind this stone hearted character and this mystery man that’s been following Geralt around.
If you’re still hungry for more witcher content, grab this dlc

Cons: New bug introduced that includes random pause and blurring of the game screen, although it happens infrequently. Bosses are really ***** hard even past level 35 with maxed out witcher school gear, buffs and skilled play, and will make your elite Geralt feel like a FNG. No new areas are included, and you spend the duration of the expansion being some *****'s slave / servant / peon. Nothing else to really comment on, other than being at the end of the expansion and stuck at the last boss for hours on end just to see the last of the storyline is a pretty large buzzkill.

Recommended for players of level 30 plus, Hearts of stone is by all means a challenge even for those a few levels over the suggested limited. When playing the base game i had stuck to sword and story as my primary means of difficulty choosing to preserving some of the challenge behind the game while keeping me in play of the games story. However as i progressed i found myself more at ease with the game defeating the games final boss easily. With hearts of Stone this was not the case as i found myself back at square one struggling to kill my foes and dreading the bosses which deal more damage than they take.

Story is yet another positive element to the game, where it only loosely ties into the story of the main game from an encounter early on in White Orchard, i was surprised as to how much i felt myself giving a damn even with the DLC featuring an almost entirely new ensemble, who have mysterious stories, to which i found myself eager to uncover

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

At 10 hours for the main story, Hearts of Stone is rather brief given the sprawling scale of Wild Hunt, but with that brevity, it never overstays its welcome. It melds well with the overall themes of the core adventure even if it feels wholly detached from it, but sometimes all you need is more Witcher-based antics.
