    The Survivalist is a pixel art overhead procedurally generated survival sandbox game. There really isn't a story, more than you've crashed on a tropical island and must survive until you devise to means of escape. You proceed by expanding your crafting skills by, well crafting. The more you do, the more your character learns how to do.Gather resources and craft better tools and protection to explore further. The more you explore the better materials you can find, so on. There are also structures that spawn randomly for you to explore to find even better materials and gear. You can also befriend the local monkeys and they can be convinced to help you complete some of your tasks. Surviving the islands alone can be quite the task, and like most sandbox games you'll find yourself getting into routines that you will repeat a lot. You can also bring up to 3 friends to join you, The more hands the more you can get done, but the more mouths to feed too! The Islands have just as many dangers as wonders and will always keep you on your toes. Team17 have created a relaxing and fun survival game with a great atmosphere. Fans of Survival Sandbox games will be delighted with this game, and should find countless hours of entertainment.… Expand

    The Survivalists is just an OK game that you will probably enjoy for a few weeks and then put away and never play again. It’s a shame because it has the foundations of something excellent, but it’s all just too simple and tedious. If the mechanics were better, the crafting was easier, there were more things to build, more types of mobs, and some clear objective like escaping the island or fighting a series of mini-bosses, we wouldn’t be talking about a little throw-away game, here; we’d be talking about a true hidden gem.

    I came into The Survivalists with high hopes, being such a fan of The Escapists. Sadly I came away from my time with it underwhelmed. There’s certainly fun to be had, and the feel of Escapists is here is parts, but some of the elements, such as the lack of storage space when out exploring, kept bringing my experience further down the longer I played. Here’s hoping Team 17 can bring me back in with the eventual (please) Escapists 3.

    The Survivalists is a good survival game with the essence of The Escapists. The exploration and coop works so well, but the crafting system is awkward.
