There have been a lot of point and click adventures that have been released this year and I must admit that I’ve started to grow weary of them. The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk is not a bad game at all but it also offers nothing different, so I can unfortunately see it getting lost in the vast amount of point and click adventures that are already out. I will say though that this gameThere have been a lot of point and click adventures that have been released this year and I must admit that I’ve started to grow weary of them. The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk is not a bad game at all but it also offers nothing different, so I can unfortunately see it getting lost in the vast amount of point and click adventures that are already out. I will say though that this game has some of my favourite puzzles I’ve played this year and that’s mainly down to the clever design. Some of the puzzles however are a little too difficult and in my opinion they didn’t need to make them this difficult. The story which is very important in a game of this type is thankfully very good and they’ve done a good job of keeping things charming and interesting throughout. I do however feel that the voice over work could have been a little better and in my opinion this takes away from the very good story. The controls in the game surprised me because even though they were originally designed for the PC they remain responsive throughout and they never felt awkward, which is great. The presentation side of the game is something I really enjoyed and it definitely lends the game a certain charm. Visually the art design is packed full of colour and lots of detail, and the accompanying music really makes the game stand out in a good way. I did notice however that the game suffers with some animation problems and this can harm the immersion at times. At the end of the day The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk is a decent addition to the genre, but unfortunately it doesn’t offer anything different from the spate of games we’ve already seen this year. It also suffers with a few problems that took my score down a peg or two and these problems could have easily been avoided. If you’re a fan of point and click adventures then you will find some enjoyment here, but in my opinion there are better games for you to play in the genre. Expand

For players on another console or who are a little luckier with bugs than me, I’d say that The Inner World is generally an enjoyable experience with cute animations and quirky humor — I would definitely recommend it, and based on the number of times my boyfriend turned off his own game to watch me play this one, I would say it’s also good for friends to play together.

A great point and click game on a console, only mildly let down by it’s slightly frustrating control scheme. Full of charm, wit and plenty of humour along the way; The Inner World delivers a fun and interesting story to keep you going.

Set in a world and fascinating world brought to life with brilliant visuals, a fantastic soundtrack and wonderfully likeable characters, it’s a shame that The Inner World‘s controls on console are so awkward, as otherwise the game is perhaps one of the best examples of the point and click genre.
