Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited Xbox One Edition is a very fun game. I have played halfway through the game so far, and I still can't wait to do more, there is sooooo much to do! I definitely recommend this game to those who haven't played it. and for those that do, I'm sure most of you will agree that it gets 8-10 rating.

I have been playing ESO for nearly four years and have every DLC- I am in love with this game. The worldbuilding is astounding and the creativity in both zones/quests/events/cosmetics is lovely. I love playing this game both alone and with some amazing friends I met through exploring. At first, I was very skeptical, but once I was fully immersed, I was hooked.

This is a game that has been on my radar since it was released, however when it was announced I had no intention of buying it due to the subscription that was required. Don't get me wrong it wasn't because of the subscription, but mainly because I couldn't afford to pay that amount of money out each month, and I don't think that I was the only one. However, I was drawn back to the game when they announced that they were no longer going to be doing the subscriptions and it would be a simple 'Buy the Disk and play the game' model... With your standard Micro transactions. Again, I don't think I was the only one who changed there mind when this was announced.

One of the many things I love about this game, is after doing the initial prologue etc you are free to go where ever you want, you can roam the lands to your hearts content, although if you're just starting out I suggest doing missions and levelling your character up, stick to a region and do the missions there first before venturing to other areas. Because there is a very good chance you will cross the border into another area and find yourself as a level 10-15 facing a horde of level 35-40 monsters... As Joon did... Didn't end too well... Brave Sir Robin moment was needed.... Saying that though, if you are in a Guild with Friends, and your all out adventuring together, there can be safety in numbers against certain higher level beasts... However, some higher level beasts will destroy you all....

This games open world is vast... and I mean HUGE! I have only tickled the surface of the world in Auridon and Grahtwood and a little bit in Cyrodill for the PvP... Which ill get onto a bit later in the review.

I think I must have played this game for at least 30+ hours and have only just done most of Auridon (the stuff that's showing on the map anyway) so the content and missions are there to play, and another thing I love about this game is that everything can be done with your Friends. Each of the missions (other than the solo quests) in the game are playable with Friends or anyone else for that matter who is at the same stage, or at least mission as you. You can see other players in the world which gives the settings a nice sense of atmosphere. The towns are beautifully designed and the houses/buildings have that wonderful medieval feel to them. They kind of remind me of the houses from Bowerstone in Fable 2.

There is good variety when it comes to missions within the game, some are short and easy and its just speaking to people, others can be more demanding with clearing out caves/mines, so there is a good variety within the game meaning that there is always going to be something different to do... Unless you speak to 2 people who have the same type of mission one after another :P

The dark anchors within the game are a very good way to get some good new gear for your character as well as some XP along the way. Each anchor within the game is a different level and will give you items for that level. However, I will advise to never try and take on an anchor around or above your level when there is only 2 or 3 of you. Evils come thick and fast and you will quickly find yourself over ran. The basic idea behind the Anchors are that you take on wave after wave of bad guys and earn some good stuff, normally when these start if you are in a surrounding vicinity you will hear the sounds of the horns going off and you will see the main frame of the anchor in the sky so they are not hard to miss.

Along with Anchors there are Group Dungeons and Group Bosses for you and your Guild to take part in. Dungeons usually contain 3 stages each of which has a boss at the end which does require teamwork and coordination as these bosses are hard... When you complete them though it is very satisfying and there is a sense of achievement.

Another thing I like with this game although it can be annoying is that when you have a marker set and its showing in your compass, 9 times out of 10 an as the bird flies route wont suffice... mainly because you will have a big mountain in front of you which you can't climb and have to walk around. So you have to plan your journeys to make sure you know where your going and how to get to the marker. Or if you are like me, just wing it and see if you can get there on blind luck... Might take you a lot longer, but who cares? Just enjoy the scenery... Also, I would highly recommend getting a horse... If you haven't unlocked Wayshrines in different areas it can make for a very long journey and horses can help with this!

The emotes in the game are absolutely fantastic. There is such variety with the different things that you can do, from the different dances from the races, to doing push ups and playing the lute... Makes for such enjoyment in an already enjoyable game.

In conclusion I find this to be a brilliant game, however there are some glaring issues within the game but other than that the game is brilliant and there is plenty for you to do.

This is a great MMO. No, it's not Skyrim, but it was never meant to be. If you go in thinking, "Oh, this can be co-op Skyrim!" you'll be sorely disappointed. Remember, its an MMO, and MMOs are way more focused on building a huge world and awesome group content than stop you in your tracks graphics.
Moving along, the PVP is great in this game. The area of the world it takes place in is HUGE. Storming a keep with 50 other players has been one of the most fun experiences I've had in a very long time.
Lastly, the crafting in this game is sooooo good. If you've played MMO's before than you'll know how cookie cutter everyone eventually looks. But ESO does a great job by making the crafting relevant endgame. You're an orc who uses a giant axe, but you want to wear nord pants and a wood elf light armor helmet? That's 100% possible.
In summary, this is a fantastic game, IF you dont go in expecting it to be Skyrim 2.0. Treat it for what it is, an action oriented MMO, and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

This is by far the best MMO I have played, and possibly the best online game in general. This does not feel like other MMOs - it feels like an Elder Scrolls game that happens to let you play with others. The One Tamriel update scales all players and content to the same power level, so there is no need to feel like you need to keep up with friends and you cannot outlevel zones and quests.

The environments are gorgeous and graphics are above and beyond what you would expect from an MMO. The soundtrack and sound design in general is on point and the voice acting generally very good. Combat is a fluid experience and you really feel like you're playing the game and not your skill bar. Your character is also very flexible - any class can fill any role and all skills can be morphed to your liking to attain new effects. There is something for everyone in ESO - whether you want to run hardcore endgame content and collect the best gear or you want to explore the world, experience the story content and collect flowers and trophies for your in-game house.

Verdict: If you're an Elder Scrolls fan already, ESO is going to feel very familiar. If you're an MMO fan already, ESO offers something completely new. I highly recommend the game - it's been around for a while but just keeps growing on all platforms and servers, and the hype leading up to the new Morrowind expansion in 2017 is a perfect time to get into the game. See you in Tamriel!

I maxed my character out, and essentially quit out of boredom 6 years ago. Thanks to the game being on the game pass, I have seen that they added player housing (phenomenal job with customization and being able to have what you want), as well as more systems while giving previous skill lines some love. Trials, Dungeons, and Arenas being seperated out is phenomenal. The sheer amount of content is top notch.

The only thing not making this a 10 is the heavy focus on the crown store. Its annoying that all the cool mounts are hidden behind Loot boxes that are completely over priced gambling machines, when you look past that the game is perfect for solo players who just like stories, PVP players (balancing is always a struggle but its fun being in cyrodil with a faction). and the End game is amazing. The CP system updates are top notch and the level of customization with your class filling any role is neat.

On my series X the graphics are outstanding, theirs some dumb quality of life glitches that pop up periodically but nothing that completely breaks the game. Sometimes the servers are wonky with connection but almost all MMOs are that way.

If youre looking for an MMO that you can play casually ESO is that game, theirs also a massive skill reward if you learn how to weave and do proper rotations, You can literally play this game anyway you want.

MMO’s could provide the antidote to everyone’s COD addiction. Games like Elder Scrolls Online are a step in the right direction, and I’m glad FPS fans have taken notice. ESO will be many gamers first exposure to MMO’s. Despite its flaws, ESO is one of the best games on nextgen and should hold gamers’ attention for several years. Too bad it won’t unseat any of the current MMO heavyweights.

Graphically, it’s impressive. ESO runs buttery smooth. Environments are lush and vibrant. However, ESO lacks the grit and harshness that everyone loved about Skyrim. Instead, ESO looks nearly identical to Kingdoms of Amalur with its oversaturated colors. But that’s a quibble, not a criticism.

Gameplay fares equally well. Combat is fluid and diverse. Once again, ESO takes cues from KoA and mimicks its combat mechanics. Although previous Elder Scroll games are fun, combat needed overhauling. Fortunately, ESO successfully addresses that. The diversity of combat skills allows deep customization and fun combo sets. Players can now dodge/role. The third person perspective is much improved. Players can adjust the camera’s zoom distances at any time. This benefits squishy AoE casters and archers. My DPS character toggles between melee and archery, so zooming out to place flaming arrow volleys on mobs is handy.

The similarities between KoA and ESO may not be all that coincidental. KoA is an excellent game; plus, one of its lead developers worked on Elder Scrolls Morrowind and Oblivion.

So ESO looks great. Combat is fluid. And the player population is growing despite Zenimax’s lack of marketing. Players can form guilds, trade, craft new weapons, and store items in banks. But ESO does have a few problems.

Foremost, questing can be boring. Too many quests involve redundant steps that exist solely for the sake of making quests longer. Plus, the RPG elements are weak. For the most part, players talk to the quest giver who directs them to someone else, then they speak with that person who requests an item. Upon fetching the item players must talk to 1,2, or 3 other people, and then trek somewhere else to fight a minor boss. Skyrim’s quests were more enthralling and much simpler. Despite all this, there are hundreds of quests. At least lore hounds will appreciate the rich content even if the story elements are weak. To others, ESO will feel like a grindfest early on. At times I simply skip thru dialogue to expedite quests. Unfortunately, the game becomes an even bigger grind on veteran ranks.

Zenimax’s lack of creativity doesn’t end with there. Many environments, such as forts and dwellings, are identical. Also, enemies are bland. ESO has zombies. Really? Despite Elder Scrolls rich lore, the game is filled with zombies…. Meh…

Secondly, combat is unbalanced. Melee characters are too vulnerable. Bosses spam powerful abilities that too often instakill players. This is especially annoying at lower levels. Ranged players—archers and mages—have big advantages in ESO. Part of this problem lies in the class system. When players create new characters, they choose race and class. Classes contain special abilities that aren’t specific to primary weapons. But all these abilities scale off magicka, which is a boon to magic users. This is problematic for melee since they use stamina to dodge and boost weapon damage. So they invest less in magicka. Since dodging uses stamina, melee players can deplete their primary ability pool even without using special abilities. Mages can roll all they want without depleting magicka. In effect, pure melee characters feel like high risk, low reward builds.

My biggest beef is against ESO’s substandard online functionality. Despite the healthy player base, grouping with other players for dungeons/questing either takes too long or doesn’t happen. Many players I encounter don’t understand how to group with others. They don’t know such mechanics exist! Zenimax needs to fix that ASAP. Console players will not stick around for months until this is fleshed out. Although solo players can have a lot of fun, they will miss out on big bonuses that group play and PVP offer.

How does ESO compare to other MMO’s? ESO is a fantastic game, but it’s only a decent MMO. Tedious questing, iffy group mechanics, and unbalanced classes keep ESO from greatness. At this point, it’s hard to see ESO aging as well as Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3. ESO launched a year ago on PC, and it’s still experiencing growing pains. Zenimax needs a hefty dose of creativity to prevent boredom from slithering into Cyrodil.

Still, ESO has 100x’s more content than Destiny. It’s a great solo game, and online play is a blast. Since launch, I’ve seen stability improvements, so that’s encouraging. With updates in the pipeline, there’s no reason to pass on ESO. Buy it. For MMO newbies, it’s a good place to start.

    Game play:

I played this on the PC and was quickly disappointed, however on the console i'm enjoying it a lot more, it might just be me but the game feels more natural on a console.

Some of the new features, such as stealing, are interesting (they didn't have this on PC Launch). Watching players get the crap beat out of the by guards is hilarious.

    Graphics:
I might be a bit spoiled here, i'm playing this game on a 110 inch projector screen so when i'm looking past a well detailed palm tree to watch the sun set over the ocean is just absolutely stunning.

    Bottom line:

I think people need to stop expecting this game to be Skyrim that went MMO and realize it's an MMO trying to be Skyrim. This game reminds me of Guild Wars 2 where it's more casual and it's meant to be a relaxing way to play an MMO, not a gear race.

While i didn't like this game on PC, on Console it feels a lot better to me so I give ESO on Xbox One an 8.

No one said this game was going to be a life changing event, so if you were expecting the greatest game ever made you were stupid to buy this in the first place.

I agree that there are issues, especially with the amount of players on the servers. The quests seem way too short and easy at times, and you will be surrounded by about thirty players while waiting to talk to the NPCs. My main complaint is that there is a lack of stuff! I am level 8 and I have only come across two or three weapons and zero armor while on quests. Enemies need to drop more goodies after they die Bethesda!

However, the artwork is beautiful, the voice overs are much better than the previous installments, there is a rich story line if you actually take the time to listen, and the world is gargantuan. This is the first game I have played where I feel obligated to create more than one character because the faction you are aligned with dictates where the games starting point is.

In conclusion, I am happy to finally be able to play ESO since I do not play games on the PC. I guarantee this game will grow on you if you have an open mind and remember its not supposed to emulate perfection.

It seems like they did a lot to make it like World of Warcraft, which I've never really liked. I played for awhile and I did well. Drastic overhauls to how players progress have hit the game since its launch back in mid 2015. These changes have taken the game from uninteresting to me to a semi-regular time sink. Things like no level requirements for quests - everything is matched to your level so that you're never too powerful or too weak to conquer a challenge in-game. Just because you complete a story for one of the three factions doesn't mean you can't take that same character and experience the main story from a different point of view (e.g. another faction). Then there's the typical Elder Scrolls style of character development in that you don't really need to stick to script. Most races have access to nearly all the playable classes, allowing you to decide whether you want to be a damage dealer, a healer, or a tank (damage sponge) and even change your style after you've capped your level. These things make ESO the people's MMORPG. But ESO wasn't made to be an MMO and it does suffer some setbacks. The game doesn't function very well when the MMO side really kicks in. Consoles will struggle to keep up when a small handful of players go at it in PvP areas. Controls are easy enough to understand but they're sometimes too easy and too simplified. Anyone coming from a PC style MMORPG will find themselves asking why there's only 5 actions per skill bar (Xbox One players could have adopted more controls via an Elite controler or Bethesda could have use some kind of alt trigger to expand skill base). So if you don't absolutely have the best set of skills, you're going to have a bad day against other competent players and some dungeons. PvP in general is kind of a bore for me. I'm great at other player-vs-player games across multiple genres but this game challenges me the most. I'm okay with challenges, I'm not okay with straight-up unfair play at times and this game toes the line of balanced gameplay and unbalanced gameplay. It will depend on your viewpoint and current playable character(s) whether you agree with me or not.

So ESO does a few things very well, sometimes better than the big bad MMO's like World of Warcraft. Sometimes ESO does things very poorly, but it's not always in a way that will really affect you. If you spend more time away from PvP and stick to cooperative gameplay you may find more to be happy with in this game, which is what I'm basically aiming to keep with now that I'm ascending through the Champion ranks, which take place after you reach max level. This is a cool idea that takes in some of the skill leveling of previous ES games but forces you to keep the grind going well beyond the level 50 max. You may or may not find that grind all that interesting but it's mandatory to put the time in if your character is to be on equal grounds with others.

My other main concern is that I am not entirely sure yet WHY it is online. I just seem to be treking around amongst other people doing the same quest as me but at a different pace, I feel like I am either doing something wrong or i am missing the point in some way.

I am fully prepared to alter my score once I have ventured further but I could do with some sort of explanation as to why there are other warriors similar to myself running around and also some sort of encouragment to interact with them. I don't want to compare it to Destiny as I feel they are different games but atleast with Destiny it sort of explained why there were other "guardians" about and game you the push to join forces with others. Right now in this game, I sort of feel like everyone else is getting in the way a bit.

This is coming from someone who doesn't play World of Warcraft, never really got into it myself but i can see the appeal, hence why i thought I would give this a go on its day of release.

I do think its a bit cheeky as well to let you pay £50 for the game and then try and sell you a monthly membership that is basically the same as the type of thing you get with F2P games. £8.99 a month increases your leveling up and money income etc, basically allowing you to become a badass quicker than every one else. It would be worth it if I found a reason to interact with anyone else but as I havent yet, I will just be my pauper self running around levelling up slowly.

I am all about fairness so if I do change my mind about the game i will alter this review, i have to say though i am enjoying this game a hell of a lot more than I enjoyed the Witcher... I'm thinking of getting rid of that all ready.

Fairly average game overall. There are several good things and several bad things about the game.

Good: 1. The world is massive. I love games with huge worlds to explore, and in this game, the world is abnormally large. It would take a significant about of time just to explore the whole game world. 2. Quests: There are plenty of quests to keep you busy for countless amount of hours.

    Good:
    1. The world is massive. I love games with huge worlds to explore, and in this game, the world is abnormally large. It would take a significant about of time just to explore the whole game world.

    2. Quests: There are plenty of quests to keep you busy for countless amount of hours. it is hard to not find something to do.

    3. Soundtrack: One of the first songs I heard in ESO was that of the theme from Oblivion. which in my opinion is the best Elder Scrolls theme. The overall soundtrack is very well done.

    4. Voice Actors: The amount of talent in this game is amazing. one of the first voices I immediately recognized was that of John Cleese who plays the voice of Sir Caldwell. Some of the other talent includes: Kate Beckinsale, Peter Stormare, Michael Gambon, Bill Nighy, Troy Baker, Malcolm McDowell, Alfred Molina, Jim Cummings, and Joseph Gatt.

    Bad:
    1. The first and in my opinion the most significant reason this is just an average game is that ESO does not feel like an Elder Scrolls game. I know a lot of people have been complaining about this. But I like to look at ESO as a completely new game. this is in fact the first multiplayer based Elder Scrolls game and overall I feel like they gave it a good effort and I give them credit for trying something new.

    2. Visuals: For a next gen console game, the visuals are a bit weak. Objects and people have to render when you get close, viewing distance is not all that great, textures are a bit previous gen looking. I do hope that the developers will try and fix some of these problems. I look more at gameplay for a game rather than visuals, but graphics should be a big part of a large video game title such The Elder Scrolls.

    3. Lags and Glitches: Everyone is going crazy, complaining that there are way to many lags and glitches. some of the things I have noticed so far are slow login times/ login failures, disappearing objects/NPCs, and significant frame rate drops when multiple NPCs or online players are on the screen at once. But people have to understand that this is a brand new MMO for consoles (MMO for consoles are pretty new in general too) there are going to be kinks and bumps in the roads, Oblivion and Skyrim were not perfect either when they first came out. Give it time and I believe the developers will fix some if not all of these kinks.

Overall ESO is an average game when looked at from an MMO/new game perspective. I will say that if you refuse to look at ESO as for what it is, a new concept/game, you will probably dislike it. Give it time, and I am sure it will progressively become a bit better.

It's a very pretty and realistic looking game with good combat, although I have to take a few points off for the following (without these minor-medium scale issues I would have given it a 9) - the first being that it needs the bugs worked out, on the first day I have already gone into several de-populated villages, and tried to speak with quest givers who showed up as being selectable but nobody was there. The second being strange in game-glitches, such as being kicked from the server for spamming when I have entered no chat text in. I literally don't know how to chat in game on the console yet but somehow was kicked for it. My other issues being the same issues I had with the PC version, in the sense that the game needs more mechanics, such as Dungeon Finder, Raiding, Flying, Underwater swimming and things that add more content and depth to it. I don't pvp so I can't speak for how it is in game, other than I know it exists and i'm sure is a make or break deal for some people. Short of that, great game, could be the best with some improvements. Expand

Some days can be just fine and others can be amazingly bad to the point where I can't even sprint in the game without latency issues slowing the game down and making it amazingly choppy. Several fans will say, "that's what patches are for", which is true, but to be waiting in the queue for nearly 15 minutes to even be able to play after four days post game launch is just unacceptable. That feel of sneaking around to go through dungeons, that fear of confrontation when you're in the fight, and even the solitude of traveling through the beautiful scenery is tarnished heavily by loads of other players. They kill all the monsters before you can get to them, making quests much easier than they should be. Plus, all the subtle un-screen things (highlighting for item selection, finding bad guys, etc.) is confusing. For example, they should have at least made the hovering over a bad-guy red, and the hovering over other players/npc's green. It all just feels cluttered.

I wanted to get into this, because I loved the last three ES titles, each with more hours than I'd like to admit. This is definitely not a classic ES game.

That said, if you've played MMO's in the past, you understand that questing is only a small amount of the game. I haven't leveled enough to give it a fair review, so I will graciously change my score if things get better.

BUT, I might not even get to that point if the servers are always cluttered and down. I have been kicked and unable to connect basically every time I've played the game. I don't have a lot of time for stuff like this, so I need to be able to dive in and get my fun in 1-2hr. increments throughout the week.

Anyways, if you have the game, stick with it for a while (as I intend to) and see if things get better.

    Not terrible, but nothing special.

Elder Scrolls Online can be fun at times, but for the majority of the time it feels like quite a dull and uninteresting world. The game world is massive with tons of quests, but many of the quests are dull and uninteresting and even when you go off to explorer there is very little to find or look at. The biggest fault for me is the combat system.

Personally, the game just doesn't feel like an Elder Scrolls game. In fact at times it feels like a completely different game with Elder Scrolls references, etc tacked onto it.

I won't mention the weak graphics, or the long loading times etc, as these can probably be expected from an MMORPG.

But at least you get a choice of 1st person and 3rd person view of the cartoony mid-distance popup terrain. NPC animations (like locations) quickly become repetitive.

Dialogue is average. The occasional quality dialogue just shows how poor the majority is. Voice acting the same, it ranges from good to poor, but mostly poor. Come on, this is an AAA title! Paying some of the voice actors on the free Skyrim mods may have provided better quality.

Gameplay. The MMO elements elements are really intrusive. You do a quest, and on your trek to the boss the enemies just keep respawning, behind you, next to you, in from of you (if you got them with a bow). Don't bother sneaking, your 1st shot from the shadows at long range and the bad guys are after you like bees to a honey pot. And when you battle the boss in the end room there is usually a horde of uninvited 'other player' guests in there with you. It looks and feels more like 'super mario brawl' than epic fantasy - especially when the boss whacks you and you fly 100' across the room. After you beat the boss get out fast because they'll respawn for the next group of heroes and whack you from behind.

And please put in an 'other player voicechat/nametags off' option. One that you tick and it actually stays OFF instead of turning itself on again. I don't want to see the silly names or hear the babble.

Worst is the pay-to-play 'incentives'. I'm level 10, I've accrued about 1.5K coins by doing every quest I find and how much is a horse? 10K for the base model. But then a steel sword will cost almost 800. Seriously? No, I've just paid £50 for the game. I'm not paying more £ to buy 'in game currency' for a damn horse.

And what's with the cooking? I'm searching for treasure and everywhere in crates and bags I'm finding cranberry and honey and ginseng and recipes to cook food over a campfire. What is this 'Cooking Mamma 5'?

But back to the boss I've just battled. The treasure is ..... 7 coins. Great. So I trek back to the quest patron and the reward is ........ 37 coins and a magic staff. A magic staff for an armour plated warrior. Thanks for that.

The immersion is flowing away like the boss's blood.

But its Elder Scrolls and Its Tamriel and I'll give it a 5 and keep playing for the exploring, the lore and the fluff and the fond memories of Skyrim. Otherwise, it would be a 2.

Elder Scrolls game. 3/10. Simply put this game has some Elder Scrolls flavor, but would be a horrible disappointment to anyone who dreamed of an Elder Scrolls MMO. If your a hardcore ES fan, you will probably hate it. If it becomes a free game from an Xbox Gold account it might be worth a try, but ES fans would probably still hate it. The XB1 controllers at least make it feel more like an ES game than the PC version.

MMO. 5/10. As far as MMO's go, it's very small feeling zones. It's still quest this and quest that, even though they try to put some ES flavor into it. If ultimately fails horribly in doing so. It is just very average as far as PVE 1-50 MMO's go. IMO the classes are too vanilla. Even more so if your looking for ES flavor.

RVR. 7/10. I never played AOC, but I loved Warhammer Online's RVR, which was borrowed from AOC. It is tons of fun when 50 vs 50 PVP fights happen and try to maintain control of bases. ESO tries to solve the flaws in WH RVR by having 3 factions instead of 2. So if your into Realm vs Realm vs Realm Multiplayer PVP for bases this game is the game for you.

The top says this game is made by Bethesda, but that is not true. It is made by Zenimax by the guy who was blamed for destroying what was great in AOC. So essentially this is AOC 2. So if you want AOC style RVR this is the game for you. If you want ES in an MMO. This game will be a huge let down.

Seriously Bethesda, take the money you earn from this and build an MMO based on the Skyrim skill set. That will make a balanced MMO and PVP will theoretically be balanced because at end game everyone can be every build. And with Windows 10 coming out, you can build it for the Xbox 1 graphics and everyone will be able to enjoy top of the line ES multiple player game.

But for the game it self, it is poor, i really love the elder scrolls series and i think thats what the problem is, i just doesnt feel like a elder scrolls game therefore producing a feeling of dissapointment, so i tried to look past that and see it for what it is but it still feels like a let down, the story so far is pretty pants, the gameplay is boring, and it comes across as complete chaos when it comes to interaction with real world players, its just complete chaos, people running about like headless chickens, trying to tea bag you, starting fights with guards who then start on you.

I now have an issue where i am in Daggerfall and a real world player started a fight with a guard and the guard then attacked me and it placed a bounty on my head as it thought i was the criminal, this was early into the game. it just all feels so chaotic. No structure or enjoyment so far what so ever.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The plot is boring, the characters are bland and unengaging. It is way too hard to find something fun to do in this game (IE be a werewolf or Vampire). I played to the max level and not once did I run across any really cool guild or mission. Where is the Dark brotherhood?

I beat the first part of the game which was fun to fight molag bol, but then you start all over again in a different area with the same boring “go find this” Go defeat this or I won’t help you” missions. I loved Skyrim and I thought this game would be as fun, it was not.

What I saw today was a game that fell flat on it's face. The graphics are very similar to a vanilla skyrim on its high settings, mixed with several bugs all relating to network issues and lack of capability to support player population. From the general inability to log in without fighting the internal server error message that is so predominant, to lagging in the game so hard that the game auto-crashes to home page on the console. I've experienced first-hand network lag crashes that actually prevent me from completing quests because the npc I got the quest from disappeared from the marking spot. I've taken falls that injure me, where I then go attack an npc, and then repeat the same fall I took 10 seconds ago while the npc is still aggro-ed on me. I finally gave up for tonight when I went to create an item through blacksmith crafting and got stuck in the sequence, not receiving the item, nor being able to exit the crafting screen.

This game may be capable of providing a great experience, but it's launch failed miserably to impress, or even arrive as a playable game, hurting it in both the short term and long term lifespan of the game.

I switched from the PC version to the Xbox One version as I am more at home on the console than the computer, plus it only cost me $20 to transfer my account (I would not have paid $60+ for this mess).

Well, I know what the game has the potential to be, but the console launch is plagued with so many bugs, that it is only playable for 5-10 minutes at a time. Errors that kick you for spamming the area chat when you haven't said anything (I haven't even bothered to figure out how to do that yet). Errors that make NPCs invisible, and the only way to fix the problem temporarily is to restart the game or the console. Then, whether you are just logging on, have been kicked, or had to restart your game/console, you have to sit in a queue that tells you that you're #1 in line with 1 second to wait, but it actually takes 5-10 minutes of waiting.

The developers should be ashamed of themselves. They have experienced almost all the same errors before, a year ago, during the PC launch. The chat spamming error (error 318) and the lag are all serious issues they encountered over a year ago. The invisible NPCs is new, but nothing else as far as I can tell. Its hard to imagine that a team of software specialists that had a year to get ahead of a problem they knew about were unable to conquer the issue, which probably means it just wasn't dealt with at all. The company has released a statement telling people that the issue with lag and some disconnections is because of the high server population. This too was a problem over a year ago. They had to have gotten statistical numbers showing the pre-orders and special PC transfers (whose promotion ended over 2 months before console launch) well enough in advance to realize that the servers needed to be upgraded to handle a larger population, yet the problem is the same.

The PC version of the game is a 7/10 in my opinion. That rating would be the same for the Xbox version if it wasn't suffering from crippling bugs that make it virtually unplayable when most of said bugs were preventable. The original game had a budget of over $500 million dollars and I'm sure more was added for the development of the console versions, so its hard to understand how problems like this could be happening. The company has been making excuses to the PC version's population that they haven't gotten around to fixing problems with the PC version because they have been hard at work on the console versions. When I heard that, I was excited. Now I'm just disappointed in ZeniMax's definition of the phrase "hard work".

I have been a fan of Elder Scrolls since Oblivion and I might still buy the next game. However, I would not touch anything that comes with the name ZeniMax attached to it. The year of problems on the PC and now all the problems with consoles is just too large a series of failures to go unnoticed and swept under the rug, IMHO.

When I do get to actually play, it last about 5 minutes before I lose connection again. I tried playing for 6 hours yesterday and had about 10 minutes of joy. The rest was pure frustration, the games most basic functions are still not working correctly even after an update to the servers this morning. I played for 5 hours before I ever heard an NPC voice, because of apparent server issues they were not playing. I honestly believe the 2 rating I give them is fully deserved for their lack of a contingency plan and poor planning in terms of server problems. Even the few moments that I did get to play relatively-problem free, the game is just boring. Its similar to Skyrim, just not as good. Clearly Bethesda over reached they built a world that is superficial and dull, the quests are run kill run back... Or worst run to someone find out they are not there anymore, with the NPC saying "oh he is in the bar" which is another 5 min trek, after you just ran 10 mins following the compass point. If I wanted to just run around and kill I would play COD.

Their seems to be a market trend of reducing character development, unless it is linear, ESOL does character development options are actually very limited with not much other than new moves and three stats health, magika and stamina. This for a RPG is poor, where is the links with Mororrowind which yes was difficult but get you sense of freedom and that spending two hours jumping up and down to build up your acrobatics skills was somehow a good use of time??? What are game designers not listening to the public, who want an PRG with lots of stats, complex versatile missions that make you feel guilty or happy. Dark souls II also looked like it is reducing its stats, but from a side-byside view the 700 hrs I spent on DSII (which I did not now was possible as I have a new baby as well - double hit for exhaustion), is going to tower over the 30 hrs of ESOL, that I suspect is soon to be deleted from the XONE memory.

It does feel like an ES game, for graphics and quest but for anyone who says it is an EScrolls game they have not played either enough or choose simple character development routes, e.g big axe health stamina. When you peel away the superb graphics and voice overs that you don't even listen to as you just run A to B to A, then all you have is three stats to improve and a load of Fallout style perks. Morrowind never had perks, and that was by every standard and 10/10 game.

Anyway I hope that helps make up your minds, in short amazing looking but superficial and boring, with very limited world options as Bethesda clearly spent all the time on the graphics, actors and then went "right now we have this million dollar world, what do we use our remming 1.99$ budget to fill it with.... Just remember the essence of madness is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result, so after DSII I am probably insane.

Now i got ESO expecting an mmorpg that had the qualities of it's predecessors as far as making me feel something for my character and what i did with my said character. what we got is a typical console mmo. that's it....just a mmo. EQ was more fun and i wasn't a big fan of that even. In this mmo they also throw micro-transactions in, want that 42,000 gold for a horse without spending hundreds of monotonous hours grinding to get that much gold, give us more hard earned money, then you can enjoy playing a little more navigating this huge plain mostly dull world full of grief and teases. in this mmo its annoying to play with the other players, because of how others will stand around and farm quick boss respawns, and the stupid idea for the open mic system, listening to the trolls and idiocy others spew in their mics. I could go on but despite the underwhelming positives, and with the large negatives for me, ill stick to the real PC mmorpgs like guild wars and WoW, and just pray they come back with a refreshing single player elder scrolls chapter in the future, and not another soul sucking game that makes me have to force myself to enjoy playing. 2. I purchased the special edition with all the bells and whistles. But guess what, only I get the bells and whistles, my wife and brother who want to play on my xbox don't get it. Zenimax says "you have to purchase that dlc again." For DLC... I... already... purchased.

    3. Combat is slow and clunky. The game literally has the combat system used in games from ten years ago.

    4. Every time you turn around they make the game overly difficult and frustrating so that you WANT to purchase in game money. Like way shrines, you can use them only so often otherwise it costs hundreds of gold to use. Just one example of the dozens of annoyances I have found like that.
    5. You only get 60 inventory spaces which would be fine except the count crafting items as items so a flower takes up a whole inventory space.

    6. Most items found in the world can be sold for 0 gold. Which shouldn't be horrible because you can break items down for their raw materials, except its not guaranteed if you get anything. Most items you get nothing.

    7. Except for special dungeons and pvp you cannot quest with friends. You can each solo the same quest at the same time but group questing is a no-go. Which means no helping friends.

    8. The area is flooded with players, often doing the same quest as you so you have literally twenty or so people standing around waiting for the big boss at the end of a dungeon to spawn. Then all hell and lag breaks out when he does and the fight literally lasts seconds.

    9. Bad guys can hit you with a sword from twenty feet away. No joke.

    10. Immersion is horrible. You wait in line to cure some npc with a potion. Watch him stand up and say "Thank you" then fall back on the floor so the next guy can heal him with his potion.

    11. Playing areas at your level is to easy and playing above your level is suicide. You attack a heavily fortified enemy siege location... except their forces consist of two bad guys that spawn over and over again... Huh? I literally have to run around looking for someone to fight.

    12. You can only sell so many stolen goods a day.

    13. no mini map and no red dots for enemies... but that doesn't matter because enemies don't see you until you hit them, basically.

    14. After level six you cant respawn where you died. You can if you have special crystals. Please purchase a pack of those in the store for real money.

    15. Even after paying $60 or more on this game respecing your character skills costs almost ten dollars.

    16. There is no magic skill trees. Only staff skill trees. So you cant level up healing like in previous editions you have to level up "restoration staff." Which would be ok except you cannot switch weapons
mid fight. at least not until level 15.

Those were just SOME of the annoying things that I have found after a day of owning this game. My PC friends laugh at me and say "That is just how MMO's are." WHAT?! Bad graphics and crappy games are what the "PC Master Race" have been dealing with for years?! And they have been so desensitized that they think that its normal?! Ugh.

I am just sad that I bought this game digital so I can't return it for at least some of my money back.

I am in 5 guilds and I still can never get enough people in group chat to make up a group.

You can be in a guild with people from all kinds of alliances, yet you cannot group with them. Why?

This game needs text chat for a looking for group. Instead it requires all kinds of useless places that no one even uses such as looking for group ESO subreddits, and LFG finders that fail in comparison to those used by players of Destiny.

The quests are fun for the first few hours, but then it feels like a boring grind. Picture world of warcraft in Vanilla days, but with even more walking. This game is a piece of **** when it comes to what to do when you hit Veteran 1. Maybe that is why I rarely see Vet 2 or above and everyone is bragging about their 5th champion above level 45.

I am yet to find a group because they seem to never occur. I wish I never bought this game. I have serious buyers remorse.

The only reason I am giving this game a 1 out of 10 is because the servers are actually pretty stable. Maybe it's due to no one ever being on them. No wonder they took away the monthly subscription.

Dungeons scale to appeal to end-game PvE players, balance changes that regularly wreck concept builds to appeal to PvP players, and world bosses that used to be soloable that now require a large group. If you're a very competitive sort, you'll love it. It's just too toxic of an environment for casuals. It's moving ever more and more toward appealing to the people who play WoW and League of Legends.

Crafting used to be a level above all drops, so it was easy to craft great armour. Crafting stats have been nerfed, and crafted gear is the same level as what drops now (and inferior in every way). This is something they promised they wouldn't do, but hey, it's just too easy to get good gear and the high-end PvE players don't like that. They added duelling, which meant that roleplayers are now getting trolled all the time by people checking roleplaying site schedules and having duels there. Unlike Champions Online, it doesn't even have no-duel zones. You can duel anywhere.

The only thing that ESO still has going for it is slightly above sub par writing.

ESO has gone in a Bold New Direction, the management at Zenimax Online Studios now wants that sweet, sweet WoW money. And we all know how well that worked out for Champions Online, Wildstar, Warhammer Online, et al, right?

So don't bother with ESO and ignore the promises made about it. It used to be a casual game, not any more.

The gameplay is not as engaging as it would seem, it is almost as if they made it look like any other ES in terms of combat, but made it terribly boring! The worst think about this game however is the content; depending on where you start in the world is dependent on your race, basically you will be split between 3 different areas across the map.. all of which have certain areas and all of which are as boring as the next.

The voice acting is horrendous even though i come to expect that from a TES game, but for some reason i really noticed it with this game and it killed immersion. The world feels very empty and bland, everything just seems dull and uninspired. The combat system in this game is so clunky, in 3rd person mode it looks ridiculous. I already stuck with the beta for at least 4 months hoping to improve, and it did in some respect, but its still not worth the time or money. Expand

What aggravates me is how much potential this game has, an MMO set in an TES universe. But what gets me angry is how the devs don't utilize any of the features that make TES what it is, and thats with 5 elder scrolls games to work with and learn from, as well as a beta. So far, here are my accomplishments...size the screen, adjust my brightness, and watch smoke for 20 minutes while I'm told I am the 1st in the queue and my wait time is 1 second. Actual game time over 48 hours=0.

Please don't waste your money on this now. At least Destiny with it's issues is playable.

The game is just about running from A-B alongside dozens of other people doing the same quests at the same time. Any interaction other than Emotes is via headset/speaker...so forget any Role-Playing and listen to inane chat about 'how can i level up

Worst game I have ever played, bar none. I started up the game after installing everything and waited in a queue for about 20-35 minutes. It took about 4 minutes for the game to disconnect me from the server and lose all progress on the creation of my character. I repeated this cycle about 6 times before I was able to take 10 minutes and actually complete a character I was happy with. Then I get to the naming screen and the magical onscreen keyboard doesn't even come up. So I try connecting a wireless keyboard (This helps me with writing messages much faster) and it still would not write the characters I was typing. So 3 minutes later of spamming buttons and can you guess what happens? Yeah, it disconnects me from the server again.

I have spent the last 4 days trying so hard to get this game to work and to this point I still have not been able to play a single second of this game past the character creation screen. I have never had this low of an opinion of a game prior to this one. In fact I even made this account on here just to write a review and tell you how garbage this game really is. Last time I ever ask for a multiplayer experience from a Bethesda game.

The WORST game on Xbox ONE atm. May as well play Runescape instead. No dialogue, combat is awful, too many people running round. Nothing like skyrim or oblivion.

Connecting to friends is a massive challenge, the game will crash on start up half of the time, and worst of all it is extremely pay to win. Enjoying walking across Tamriel for eternity unless you're willing to drop even more cash on a mount. A $60 game should NOT have micro transactions, especially one that is painfully boring.

Would love to tell you about how great this game is but after four solid days of connection errors, I have given up. I couldn't even navigate around stonefall without being told that my internet connection was not "valid". I have 100mbs fiber. NAT is open. Shouldn't be any problems but clearly ESO has server problems on both the NA and EU servers. This is not an ELDER SCROLLS GAME, it's a cash grab! Sure, it's addicting if you're
an Elder Scrolls fan because you play for a while, invest some hours into it but then you
start seeing how depressing and soulless the world around you is compared to solo ES

You begin to lie to yourself and ignore any doubts you have and before you know it your

Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has addressed many of the issues that plagued the first title. There are still some issues with clipping, connections, and voice chat, but the game is still quite enjoyable with plenty of quests to complete and areas to explore. It isn't the perfect MMO by far, but at least it's one that won't cost you $15 a month and you can come back to it whenever you feel like exploring Tamriel.

It may not be the best-looking MMORPG out there and its social tools could use some serious work, but in the end, The Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited offers an intuitive and competent experience for console gamers and Skyrim fans alike.

Tamriel Unlimited is neither a great Elder Scrolls game nor an MMORPG for the ages, but it's something else entirely. An addictive if often awkward compromise with an astonishing amount of quality subscription-free content.
