This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The plot is boring, the characters are bland and unengaging. It is way too hard to find something fun to do in this game (IE be a werewolf or Vampire). I played to the max level and not once did I run across any really cool guild or mission. Where is the Dark brotherhood?

I beat the first part of the game which was fun to fight molag bol, but then you start all over again in a different area with the same boring “go find this” Go defeat this or I won’t help you” missions. I loved Skyrim and I thought this game would be as fun, it was not.

Riddled with persistent problems (especially friend list issues), this game developer (Zenimax) has demonstrated naked greed by releasing new DLCs while ignoring the problems that existing customers are complaining about. This game is bringing down the excellent Elder Scrolls series and the excellent reputation of Bethesda Softworks altogether.

First off, let me say this game doesn't belong on a console. The PVP fights cause sound tear, and cause frame lag worse than trying to be in a major city in world of warcraft on an Asus EEE netbook.

The looking for group ability of this game is a negative 1 out of 10. You can sit for hours in group finder and never find a group.

I am in 5 guilds and I still can never get enough people in group chat to make up a group.

You can be in a guild with people from all kinds of alliances, yet you cannot group with them. Why?

This game needs text chat for a looking for group. Instead it requires all kinds of useless places that no one even uses such as looking for group ESO subreddits, and LFG finders that fail in comparison to those used by players of Destiny.

The quests are fun for the first few hours, but then it feels like a boring grind. Picture world of warcraft in Vanilla days, but with even more walking. This game is a piece of **** when it comes to what to do when you hit Veteran 1. Maybe that is why I rarely see Vet 2 or above and everyone is bragging about their 5th champion above level 45.

I am yet to find a group because they seem to never occur. I wish I never bought this game. I have serious buyers remorse.

The only reason I am giving this game a 1 out of 10 is because the servers are actually pretty stable. Maybe it's due to no one ever being on them. No wonder they took away the monthly subscription.

What I saw today was a game that fell flat on it's face. The graphics are very similar to a vanilla skyrim on its high settings, mixed with several bugs all relating to network issues and lack of capability to support player population. From the general inability to log in without fighting the internal server error message that is so predominant, to lagging in the game so hard that the game auto-crashes to home page on the console. I've experienced first-hand network lag crashes that actually prevent me from completing quests because the npc I got the quest from disappeared from the marking spot. I've taken falls that injure me, where I then go attack an npc, and then repeat the same fall I took 10 seconds ago while the npc is still aggro-ed on me. I finally gave up for tonight when I went to create an item through blacksmith crafting and got stuck in the sequence, not receiving the item, nor being able to exit the crafting screen.

This game may be capable of providing a great experience, but it's launch failed miserably to impress, or even arrive as a playable game, hurting it in both the short term and long term lifespan of the game.

Where to start.. The graphics are terrible, however this is to be 'expected' with an MMO (of course, about 10 years ago..). The gameplay is not as engaging as it would seem, it is almost as if they made it look like any other ES in terms of combat, but made it terribly boring! The worst think about this game however is the content; depending on where you start in the world is dependent on your race, basically you will be split between 3 different areas across the map.. all of which have certain areas and all of which are as boring as the next.

Really I could go on about the faults this game has for thousands of words.. but I'm wasting my time. If you are a true RPG fan, go buy The Witcher 3. If you are a fan of the ES series and/or Fallout, turn away.. you WILL be disappointed.

Do you like boring fetch quests and WoW clones? If you do- ESO is the game for you. This game may appeal to someone who just wants to fight monsters non stop and is looking for zero depth, it certainly won't appeal to people who like Skyrim though.

Lots of running, long loading screens, boring and bland world.

I now have an issue where i am in Daggerfall and a real world player started a fight with a guard and the guard then attacked me and it placed a bounty on my head as it thought i was the criminal, this was early into the game. it just all feels so chaotic. 2. I purchased the special edition with all the bells and whistles. But guess what, only I get the bells and whistles, my wife and brother who want to play on my xbox don't get it. Zenimax says "you have to purchase that dlc again." For DLC... I... already... purchased.

    3. Combat is slow and clunky. The game literally has the combat system used in games from ten years ago.

    4. Every time you turn around they make the game overly difficult and frustrating so that you WANT to purchase in game money. Like way shrines, you can use them only so often otherwise it costs hundreds of gold to use. Just one example of the dozens of annoyances I have found like that.
    5. You only get 60 inventory spaces which would be fine except the count crafting items as items so a flower takes up a whole inventory space.

    6. Most items found in the world can be sold for 0 gold. Which shouldn't be horrible because you can break items down for their raw materials, except its not guaranteed if you get anything. Most items you get nothing.

    7. Except for special dungeons and pvp you cannot quest with friends. You can each solo the same quest at the same time but group questing is a no-go. Which means no helping friends.

    8. The area is flooded with players, often doing the same quest as you so you have literally twenty or so people standing around waiting for the big boss at the end of a dungeon to spawn. Then all hell and lag breaks out when he does and the fight literally lasts seconds.

    9. Bad guys can hit you with a sword from twenty feet away. No joke.

    10. Immersion is horrible. You wait in line to cure some npc with a potion. Watch him stand up and say "Thank you" then fall back on the floor so the next guy can heal him with his potion.

    11. Playing areas at your level is to easy and playing above your level is suicide. You attack a heavily fortified enemy siege location... except their forces consist of two bad guys that spawn over and over again... Huh? I literally have to run around looking for someone to fight.

    12. You can only sell so many stolen goods a day.

    13. no mini map and no red dots for enemies... but that doesn't matter because enemies don't see you until you hit them, basically.

    14. After level six you cant respawn where you died. You can if you have special crystals. Please purchase a pack of those in the store for real money.

    15. Even after paying $60 or more on this game respecing your character skills costs almost ten dollars.

    16. There is no magic skill trees. Only staff skill trees. So you cant level up healing like in previous editions you have to level up "restoration staff." Which would be ok except you cannot switch weapons
mid fight. at least not until level 15.

Those were just SOME of the annoying things that I have found after a day of owning this game. My PC friends laugh at me and say "That is just how MMO's are." WHAT?! Bad graphics and crappy games are what the "PC Master Race" have been dealing with for years?! And they have been so desensitized that they think that its normal?! Ugh.

I am just sad that I bought this game digital so I can't return it for at least some of my money back.

Connecting to friends is a massive challenge, the game will crash on start up half of the time, and worst of all it is extremely pay to win. Now i got ESO expecting an mmorpg that had the qualities of it's predecessors as far as making me feel something for my character and what i did with my said character. what we got is a typical console mmo. that's it....just a mmo. EQ was more fun and i wasn't a big fan of that even. In this mmo they also throw micro-transactions in, want that 42,000 gold for a horse without spending hundreds of monotonous hours grinding to get that much gold, give us more hard earned money, then you can enjoy playing a little more navigating this huge plain mostly dull world full of grief and teases. in this mmo its annoying to play with the other players, because of how others will stand around and farm quick boss respawns, and the stupid idea for the open mic system, listening to the trolls and idiocy others spew in their mics. I could go on but despite the underwhelming positives, and with the large negatives for me, ill stick to the real PC mmorpgs like guild wars and WoW, and just pray they come back with a refreshing single player elder scrolls chapter in the future, and not another soul sucking game that makes me have to force myself to enjoy playing. I switched from the PC version to the Xbox One version as I am more at home on the console than the computer, plus it only cost me $20 to transfer my account (I would not have paid $60+ for this mess).

Well, I know what the game has the potential to be, but the console launch is plagued with so many bugs, that it is only playable for 5-10 minutes at a time. Errors that kick you for spamming the area chat when you haven't said anything (I haven't even bothered to figure out how to do that yet). Errors that make NPCs invisible, and the only way to fix the problem temporarily is to restart the game or the console. Then, whether you are just logging on, have been kicked, or had to restart your game/console, you have to sit in a queue that tells you that you're #1 in line with 1 second to wait, but it actually takes 5-10 minutes of waiting.

The developers should be ashamed of themselves. They have experienced almost all the same errors before, a year ago, during the PC launch. The chat spamming error (error 318) and the lag are all serious issues they encountered over a year ago. The invisible NPCs is new, but nothing else as far as I can tell. Its hard to imagine that a team of software specialists that had a year to get ahead of a problem they knew about were unable to conquer the issue, which probably means it just wasn't dealt with at all. The company has released a statement telling people that the issue with lag and some disconnections is because of the high server population. This too was a problem over a year ago. They had to have gotten statistical numbers showing the pre-orders and special PC transfers (whose promotion ended over 2 months before console launch) well enough in advance to realize that the servers needed to be upgraded to handle a larger population, yet the problem is the same.

The PC version of the game is a 7/10 in my opinion. That rating would be the same for the Xbox version if it wasn't suffering from crippling bugs that make it virtually unplayable when most of said bugs were preventable. The original game had a budget of over $500 million dollars and I'm sure more was added for the development of the console versions, so its hard to understand how problems like this could be happening. The company has been making excuses to the PC version's population that they haven't gotten around to fixing problems with the PC version because they have been hard at work on the console versions. When I heard that, I was excited. Now I'm just disappointed in ZeniMax's definition of the phrase "hard work".

I have been a fan of Elder Scrolls since Oblivion and I might still buy the next game. However, I would not touch anything that comes with the name ZeniMax attached to it. The year of problems on the PC and now all the problems with consoles is just too large a series of failures to go unnoticed and swept under the rug, IMHO.

Or worst run to someone find out they are not there anymore, with the NPC saying "oh he is in the bar" which is another 5 min trek, after you just ran 10 mins following the compass point. If I wanted to just run around and kill I would play COD.

Their seems to be a market trend of reducing character development, unless it is linear, ESOL does character development options are actually very limited with not much other than new moves and three stats health, magika and stamina. This for a RPG is poor, where is the links with Mororrowind which yes was difficult but get you sense of freedom and that spending two hours jumping up and down to build up your acrobatics skills was somehow a good use of time??? What are game designers not listening to the public, who want an PRG with lots of stats, complex versatile missions that make you feel guilty or happy. Dark souls II also looked like it is reducing its stats, but from a side-byside view the 700 hrs I spent on DSII (which I did not now was possible as I have a new baby as well - double hit for exhaustion), is going to tower over the 30 hrs of ESOL, that I suspect is soon to be deleted from the XONE memory.

It does feel like an ES game, for graphics and quest but for anyone who says it is an EScrolls game they have not played either enough or choose simple character development routes, e.g big axe health stamina. When you peel away the superb graphics and voice overs that you don't even listen to as you just run A to B to A, then all you have is three stats to improve and a load of Fallout style perks. Morrowind never had perks, and that was by every standard and 10/10 game.

Anyway I hope that helps make up your minds, in short amazing looking but superficial and boring, with very limited world options as Bethesda clearly spent all the time on the graphics, actors and then went "right now we have this million dollar world, what do we use our remming 1.99$ budget to fill it with.... Just remember the essence of madness is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result, so after DSII I am probably insane.

When I do get to actually play, it last about 5 minutes before I lose connection again. I tried playing for 6 hours yesterday and had about 10 minutes of joy. The rest was pure frustration, the games most basic functions are still not working correctly even after an update to the servers this morning. I played for 5 hours before I ever heard an NPC voice, because of apparent server issues they were not playing. I honestly believe the 2 rating I give them is fully deserved for their lack of a contingency plan and poor planning in terms of server problems. The game is just about running from A-B alongside dozens of other people doing the same quests at the same time. Any interaction other than Emotes is via headset/speaker...so forget any Role-Playing and listen to inane chat about 'how can i level up

Worst game I have ever played, bar none. I started up the game after installing everything and waited in a queue for about 20-35 minutes. It took about 4 minutes for the game to disconnect me from the server and lose all progress on the creation of my character. I repeated this cycle about 6 times before I was able to take 10 minutes and actually complete a character I was happy with. Then I get to the naming screen and the magical onscreen keyboard doesn't even come up. So I try connecting a wireless keyboard (This helps me with writing messages much faster) and it still would not write the characters I was typing. So 3 minutes later of spamming buttons and can you guess what happens? Yeah, it disconnects me from the server again.

I have spent the last 4 days trying so hard to get this game to work and to this point I still have not been able to play a single second of this game past the character creation screen. I have never had this low of an opinion of a game prior to this one. In fact I even made this account on here just to write a review and tell you how garbage this game really is. Last time I ever ask for a multiplayer experience from a Bethesda game.

This game has a few interesting quests, that aren't in your normal MMO that intrigue me. But the essence of the game are fetch quests, and they get really repetitive after a couple hours. The voice acting is horrendous even though i come to expect that from a TES game, but for some reason i really noticed it with this game and it killed immersion. The world feels very empty and bland, everything just seems dull and uninspired. The combat system in this game is so clunky, in 3rd person mode it looks ridiculous. I already stuck with the beta for at least 4 months hoping to improve, and it did in some respect, but its still not worth the time or money. Expand

The WORST game on Xbox ONE atm. May as well play Runescape instead. No dialogue, combat is awful, too many people running round. Nothing like skyrim or oblivion.

DO NOT THINK THIS IS ELDER SCROLLS 6. Play Fallout 4 this November or Skyrim right now. Avoid this cesspool of MMO tropes bad habits. MMO is not Elder Scrolls.

Certainly not the worst game I've ever played, but pretty close. Working around other gamers in the world, stability issues, horrible dialogue, and an uninteresting storyline make this game almost unplayable. The missions are completely empty and mostly consist of walking to different locations and reading dialogue. Nothing like Skyrim, do not buy if you don't want to be bored.

    A bad time for casuals.

This game started off as having more of a casual focus, sure. Since One Tamriel, though, it's been supremely exclusionary of casuals. Dungeons scale to appeal to end-game PvE players, balance changes that regularly wreck concept builds to appeal to PvP players, and world bosses that used to be soloable that now require a large group. Dungeons scale to appeal to end-game PvE players, balance changes that regularly wreck concept builds to appeal to PvP players, and world bosses that used to be soloable that now require a large group. If you're a very competitive sort, you'll love it. It's just too toxic of an environment for casuals. It's moving ever more and more toward appealing to the people who play WoW and League of Legends.

Crafting used to be a level above all drops, so it was easy to craft great armour. Crafting stats have been nerfed, and crafted gear is the same level as what drops now (and inferior in every way). This is something they promised they wouldn't do, but hey, it's just too easy to get good gear and the high-end PvE players don't like that. They added duelling, which meant that roleplayers are now getting trolled all the time by people checking roleplaying site schedules and having duels there. Unlike Champions Online, it doesn't even have no-duel zones. You can duel anywhere.

The only thing that ESO still has going for it is slightly above sub par writing.

ESO has gone in a Bold New Direction, the management at Zenimax Online Studios now wants that sweet, sweet WoW money. And we all know how well that worked out for Champions Online, Wildstar, Warhammer Online, et al, right?

So don't bother with ESO and ignore the promises made about it. It used to be a casual game, not any more.

Holy crap I have no idea why this game has a mediocre score.

First of all, I LOVED Skyrim V. I played it for god knows how many hours on the Xbox 360 and put even more hours in on the remastered version. I bought this thinking it would be sorta similar, just online. But, make no mistake, it is NOTHING similar. The graphics are terrible. Absolutely horrible. The graphics remind me of

The graphics are terrible. Absolutely horrible. The graphics remind me of an old arcade game in the late 90's. The game controls and direction are not explained as well as the crafting system. I think I spent more time online trying to figure out how to play this game than I did playing it.

I actually have this game listed on Facebook Marketplace for trade, listed as I would literally trade this for any game.

Simply put, there is absolutely nothing about this game that is enjoyable. I would rather eat pineapple pizza than play this disaster.

Game often impossible to get into. Just freezes up at loading screen. Also has the longest load screen times in gaming.

Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited has addressed many of the issues that plagued the first title. There are still some issues with clipping, connections, and voice chat, but the game is still quite enjoyable with plenty of quests to complete and areas to explore. It isn't the perfect MMO by far, but at least it's one that won't cost you $15 a month and you can come back to it whenever you feel like exploring Tamriel.

It may not be the best-looking MMORPG out there and its social tools could use some serious work, but in the end, The Elder Scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited offers an intuitive and competent experience for console gamers and Skyrim fans alike.

Tamriel Unlimited is neither a great Elder Scrolls game nor an MMORPG for the ages, but it's something else entirely. An addictive if often awkward compromise with an astonishing amount of quality subscription-free content.
