Played through the game on Saturday (31.10.20) in co-op in about 4 hours. Basically it was a step forward for me because of the setting, but it lacks horror depth again.

The presentation is well done, most parts of the graphics work, too, but the biggest plus point is the atmosphere in the forest and Little Hope. Much better compared to the ship from its predecessor. Unfortunately, the facial expressions sometimes seem very strange, the professor's face contorts so much that you immediately think of a bug.

Regarding the gameplay, it remains to be said that, similar to the predecessor, it runs well in co-op and this time it feels like it is even correctly timed (mostly everyone is on the move in different passages). My co-partner unfortunately had a bug, but we were able to fix it by restarting (his screen was full of tool tips).

In terms of the story, it was significantly better than the purely clumsy horror predecessor, but again shows no depth in the horror genre. Personally, I have higher expectations of this genre than the recurring "scrap" of jumpscares on the assembly line. Of course you get frightened, but horror has to go to the core, has to really throw you off the rails (recommendation: Hereditary).
The atmosphere of the setting alone isn't enough and otherwise it was just too thin, even if the end was really cool.

    Conclusion: 6/10 jumpscare cats.

Little hope is the second game in the dark pictures anthology, a series of interactive movie like games from the team that brought you until dawn.. and while I enjoyed Little Hope much better than man of medan, theres still a lot to be desired here…
Little Hope is a 4 our long interactive horror game that can be played solo or with a friend, here you play as a group of people after a bus swerves and crashes, youre all stuck in this abandoned ghost town called little hope with no way to escape.. the bus driver is missing and youll all set out to find him and also a way to find help.. while youre walking around youll ocassionally run into the little demon ghost girl, shell grab you and youre thrown into the past, as half of the game takes place in the 1690s witch trials.. and this are the best parts of the game.. I would have loved to play the entire game in this setting, the visuals, the acting, the charcters.. the eriness.. I loved when a ghost would grab me and take me back… and youre basically trying to solve the mystery of this little demon girl and why everyone in the past looks like the group of people youre with. Sadly the present day is so boring to get through… It was really hard to pay attention during these moments of basically just walking forward and interacting with stuff waiting to get grabbed again… that’s literally what it feels like, even when monsters are introduced to the game.. and for the first time playing a supermassive game, I felt like nothing had consequences, I felt like none of my choices ultimately mattered, leaving little to no replay value to be had here… obviously I don’t want to get into spoilers as this is a heavy story based game, but the ending here is the ending, it cant be changed, all that can be changed is the lead up to the revelation… really disappointing.
Overal though I loved this story way more than Man of Medans.. the parts of the game that take place in the oast, and trying to come up with the answer to this games story as I played made it all worth it…
Though the story is one you have little to no impact on this time and are more so just along for the ride… the story definitely saves this game from mediocrity.
    I give Little Hope
    a 7/10

This game is definitely a huge mixed bag, the QTE's and Dialogue are a vast improvement over Man of Medan, with the "characters" (I'll get to that) developing must faster than Man of Medan with the overall story also being much more interesting as it gets straight into the horror compared to MoM taking about an hour due to it's very slow beginning. So if you're looking for a more gameplay improved version of MoM, I'd recommend this game.

However, the ending completely undermines literally everything. Basically meaning none of your choices seem to matter which ruins the entire point of a replayable game.

    SPOILER ALERT

Only Andrew actually exists, we don't know if the 1700's plot even matters for reality, and all the characters you grow to care for and try to save don't exist. Yes, there are still 3 endings depending on how many survive but I don't care since neither John, Angela, Taylor or Daniel actually exist, they're figments of Andrew (Anthony's) imagination, which also begs the question of what actually happened when the group split up, did Andrew just imagine all that as well? Oh and why (if they're all recreations of his family members) did he make Taylor and Daniel as a couple if they were brother and sister, in reality, adopted brother and sister or not, it's just plain weird.

I don't get why the Dark Pictures series keeps trying to be set in the real world Until Dawn worked because we had normal characters in an unnormal situation, both these game seem to completely miss the point and I've now spend £25 on a replayable game there is no point replaying...

For a game basically ripping off almost every part of Silent Hill, Little Hope still managed to feel a whole lot better than I was expecting. Granted, it's still a quicktime event, cutscene filled game. Even if Little Hope feels like it goes backwards, in terms of how linear its level design is, almost every other aspect of the game has been improved over Man of Medan. The characters are miles more likeable, even if their personalities and relationships aren't the main focus this time around. The graphics, cinematography, monsters and sound design are amazing. The story this time no longer seems to focus on this idiotic scooby- doo nonsense of Medan. Its creepy, weird, really bizarre, terrifying and haunting. Just when you think you know how to play the game and what the story may have in store, Little Hope just doesn't follow the same formula as Medan. Quicktime events have been made more manageable when you are just starting out and you have way more chances to get everyone out alive. Its not the greatest game and 4 hours is really far too short for a game these days. But its a good sign for the series if they can do better than Medan and improve so much with Little Hope. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. More of a movie than a game. The gameplay is nothing more than moving a character around and choosing what dialogue to speak. other than that i think its a great 'game'. The dark, gloomy atmosphere is well done, voice acting and the interactions between the characters are top notch and your made to care for each of them as you equally play as all of them. The graphics, lighting and voice acting is top notch and adds to the somewhat limited horror. The horror relies on jump-scares and the creepy creatures that chase you down while nothing can be done to stop them. Think of the tyrant from Resident evil 2 but more of them and less foreboding. Overall a good horror game but won't appeal to everyone Expand

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope Horrible. After getting to almost the ending of the game the game would not proceed any further I could not save past a particular point.

Overall I think Little Hope is just alright. I don’t think there’s anything special to be found here. The twist in the story has been done way better as well as the gameplay by the same studio from all accounts. I guess that the good news is that if like me this is your first Supermassive game it apparently only gets better from here.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is a horror game better than the first game of this Supermassive Games anthology. The story and setting will make the game a very enjoyable experience for lovers of the genre.

A solid second chapter to Supermassive Games' horror anthology, fixing some of the past problems and introducing a deeper and tenser plot.
