    Its beginning hours may not be exciting but once things start to open up, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics becomes a fantastic SRPG that allows for a great deal of party customization and offers plenty of varied battle scenarios.

    The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance nails the charm of the Gelflings and the world of the Dark Crystal, but fails to do anything even remotely new in the Tactics genre. Nevertheless, it’s a simple game that for a small price could be worth picking up for a quick blast of uncomplicated strategy when the strategy craving hits.

    The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics isn't a swing and miss, because there wasn't a swing. This is a quirky and strangely-charming world, but the game has dulled it to a bog-standard strategy game, leaving behind the technical prowess that made the show interesting, and playing it safe in a way The Dark Crystal creator, Jim Henson, never would.

    Quite a sizeable game for its price – you can expect to get at least ten hours of play out of it. It has decent music and visuals, too. It’s just a shame that its story isn’t engaging at all. If it wasn’t for the enjoyable nature of its battles – which admittedly don’t try to raise the bar – it’d be a total disaster. So, if you’re a fan of The Dark Crystal or just love strategy RPGs, you’ll get some enjoyment out of it. Just don’t expect it to blow you away.

    The Dark Crystal fans will certainly be happy to leap back into the world originally created by Jim Henson once again with The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics, but those just looking for a new tactical RPG to play would be better suited looking elsewhere.

    An okay strategy game that doesn’t take advantage of the fantastic world of The Dark Crystal. Dull missions and strange gameplay quirks make this game difficult to recommend.

    Someone looking for a playable, reliable turn-based tactics game will find one with The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics. It gets the job done, but does so in the most generic, unexciting way imaginable. It completely fails to take advantage of the Dark Crystal IP, and is simply not very fun to play.

    In a world where Jim Henson created lovable creations such as The Muppets and the cast seen in The Dark Crystal, it’s disappointing that their property has been wasted on a hollow combat-heavy video game.

My excitement for this release slowly abated as I played the game. The Visual Presentation and Story Writing is absolutely stunning. Giving life to the Muppet filled world couldn't have been an easy task. The animations and graphics are pleasing and capture the Dark Crystal wold beautifully. Unfortunately, these became the only driving force after the first several segments of play. The story was the only thing that kept me around, as it goes into better detail about situations only hinted at in the show, and stays fairly congruent with the story presented there. The Action of combat never came to that apex, leaving you beating the same enemies, and achieving the same goals. The story progression gives you primary quests, that follow the story and optional encounters you can use to level and acquire more pearls, the in-game currency. These levels are a bit less than optional, as you will do nothing but struggle if you don't complete them, as you'll never keep scaling to the game difficulty, and you'll never afford to upgrade your gear enough. The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics is a mediocre Strategy RPG wrapped in a glorious package, but it tells a necessary arc of the story. Major fans of the Dark Crystal universe need this game's story, but I don't recommend it to Strategy RPG fanatics, as it falls a bit short in gameplay.… Full Review »

What I want from turn based strategy is simple and easy to deliver upon: quick, responsive control schemes and a text based character driven story. Instead, we are given a canned world of warcraft level generic foot montage with cutscenes longer than any other and voice actors that will literally try and rip out their own hair to keep their jobs because their voice is so damaged from alcohol or other dessicant acid use. It is truly a game that seeks to be gory and lewd rather than actually strategic or fun, as it's gameplay bears no challenge or skill, and simply uses a grid mechanism because they wanted to try and get you to do team management, but the levels have no intelligent design and all the characters have mostly the same move points so you're just slamming them into each other and gaining experience. Might as well make a card game netflix, you're that predicative. Every sound effect is obnoxious and will leave you ashamed to have even booted this game up.… Full Review »

    Voilà un petit étron indé inspiré du vieux film ringard « Dark Crystal » mettant en scène ces espèces de créatures à longues oreilles et àVoilà un petit étron indé inspiré du vieux film ringard « Dark Crystal » mettant en scène ces espèces de créatures à longues oreilles et à face de rat qui vivent dans des grottes… mais qu’ils sont vilains ces machins ! mais ce sont eux les « héros » dans ce monde d’opérette visant principalement les chiards et/ou les faibles d’esprits pour parler poliment.

    C’est donc avant tout très niaiseux et tout en 256 couleurs avec les graphismes neuneus qui les accompagnent ; l’interface est pénible à utiliser et le caractère répétitif est particulièrement frappant et regrettable. Ce tour par tour de pacotille tout en carton s’est échappé d’un Kinder Surprise et ce n’est pas une surprise s’il reste un tas de merde pas bien haut : on pourrait même marcher dessus par mégarde.

    La musique est bien niaise elle aussi et l’intérêt général de cet étron indé est égal ou inférieur à zéro, à moins peut-être d’aimer s’y faire chier sur Switch (le masochisme), la daube portable de chez Nintendaube et accessoirement mini-console habituée aux mini-daubes de cet acabit.
