Truth is, this is some of the worst combat I've ever seen in a modern game. Not to mention, the game feels uninspired, isn't scary in the least, and is full of Uncharted-esque moments that are incredibly dated. The game sucks. Full Review »

I finished it on the hardest difficulty, Maximum Security. Great challenge at times. A nice combination of most of my favourite survival horror games such as The Last of Us, Resi 4, The Evil Within. My only nit-pick is that I would have liked it to be a few hours longer. 9/10 Full Review »

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. I think this game is good for the most part, but it is absolutely a Dead Space clone from what I can tell, so this fact does lower my opinion of it.

I enjoy all the performances, the gameplay, and the story for the most part. I thought the Warden's motivations were pretty lack luster because he said that he unleashed the virus so humans could evolve in order to reach further into space. Humanity has already colonized Europa, Callisto, and undoubtedly more planets, so the need for further evolution by that logic makes no sense. The game also likes to gloss over the fact that Dani is a terrorist, and after she hands Jacob a shotgun, he seems to forget the facts that she boarded his ship and was partially responsible for his friend's death. The twist of Jacob being responsible for the whole outbreak was cool, and I like how at the end, after saying that he didn't belong in prison, he realizes that he did indeed belong there. The whole fake out death and setting up for a sequel bit at the end kind of ruins that moment though.

I enjoyed the gameplay. At first I thought I wouldn't care for the third person aspect of it, but it actually works really well. The game claims to be scary, and for me personally it really wasn't. It has some jump scares, and a couple got me, but other than that it wasn't too scary. The graphics aren't great on a last gen console. Not awful, but sometimes things don't fully render. The different weapons and gadgets were definitely nice, as they spiced up the gameplay.

Good game over all. Not worth $60, but a good game to rent.
