  • Summary: Join a racoon and a llama in their quest to save videogames as we know them! SuperEpic is a Metroidvania style action adventure game filled with humor and satire. The gameplay is nonlinear and fast paced, with exploration and combo-based combat the weapon of choice against the evil Regnantcorp.

SuperEpic: The Entertainment War lays its feelings out for all to see on the current state of the big buck chasing corporate side of the game industry. That it does so with enough wit and entertainment factor is commendable; it would have been easy to fall on the wrong side of parody. The core gameplay is fun and engaging, the art is fantastic and – odd typo aside – the writing manages to get the message across in an entertaining way. Undercoders perhaps lent a little too heavily on the MetroidVania aspects with a hard to read map and even harder to keep track of side missions, but overall I had a blast with SuperEpic.

The Metroidvania hooks of exploration and new abilities, leading to further exploration, are all present and correct, and most importantly it’s great fun to play. It’s full of nice touches and humour, moving along at a cracking pace, and minor annoyances aside is a game I can recommend.

SuperEpic: The Entertainment War is a 16bit Metroidvania with mobile device interaction. You're a Racoon riding a Llama what else could youSuperEpic: The Entertainment War is a 16bit Metroidvania with mobile device interaction. You're a Racoon riding a Llama what else could you ask for? Well, you're sticking it to the Corporate Pigs, Beat 'Em Up Style! Advance through the Corporate Headquarters of Regnant Corp, a sinister gaming corporation brainwashing its consumers with mindless crap, and you're going to end it! Face off against both the brains and the brawn of the corporation as you bring it to the ground. Collect money and gems to upgrade your weapons and abilities. Some of these abilities, like the ability to double-jump or wall-jump, allow you to gain access to new areas. If you're accustomed to Metroidvania games, you'll feel right at home as this fit's the genre perfectly. The oddest, and one of my favorite features, it the use of QR Codes around the Corporate office, giving you access to and upgrades to the PigCoin Miner, and mini-games. You can use the codes from wining the mini-games for bonus chests and areas. The Crypto Currency miner allows you to buy money cards for in-game. Aside from the main game, there is a Rouge-Lite you can play with randomly generated areas and loss of progress with death. The dialogue is filled with satire and gaming humor and made me laugh quite a few times. The soundtrack is incredible keeping the mood and getting you pumped most of the time. If you love a good Metroidvania games, this Indie game delivers full throttle. Expand
