    Great game. Makes me very happy to own an Xbox One. 3 hours in and I'm addicted. PS4 has nothing like this, and won't for the foreseeable future. Insomniac has created a masterpiece here that flies in the face of every banal, superfluous generic game out there, and provides exactly the kind of experience one could hope for in this sea of low-risk corporate creations, like Destiny and CoD.Great game.     You'll have a great time with this game. You know when a game gets this much praise from credible review sites and then you see a bunch of 0's, that means Sony fanboys are really upset they don't have the game. Take the credible reviewer's words and the fanboy's 0's as a sign that this game is awesome.

    This is a GREAT game and shows you things do not have to be serious and its not all about FPS and 1080p

    This is a game about having fun and blowing stuff up. Its silly and its fun and that my friends is what games are about FUN.

    don't even think about it just go buy this game its worth every cent.

    yep the story is cheeze, but the game never try to be serious, its really fun for me, its kind of a combination of old tony hawk skater games with a shooter. Game plays really well so you can pull off some fancy moves without much trouble and I just love the art-style. If you're looking for having some fun its a great game.

    So far I have played Sunset Overdrive a couple of hours, and let me a good taste of mouth. I do not think this game will be a reason to buy an Xbox One, but for the actual owners of such console I think it a great option to have lot of fun, almost a must have game.

    I would try to update my review with more time invested in the game so stay tunned... jajajaja

    This game is not perfect. Over-saturated colors and never-changing pace of action makes me tired. Guns are bit too crazy for me...
    But overall - this is a one of the best games I EVER played!

    Sunset Overdrive is a beautiful, fun and fast paste game and it's definitely a must have game for the XO. I had a ton of fun with it for several days and i played it obsessively. Unfortunately - unless you're an achievement hunter - the game completely DIES when you finish the campaign and all the side missions, which is really sad. You could kill more monsters to get all the guns and all the gear, etc, but for what? So you could continue killing more monsters for no reason? Meh. They could've done something more inventive with the multiplayer.… Expand

The story is not intended to be as strong as in games made by companies such as Naughty Dog and Bioware but the game offers a simple story like the company is know for.     Best arcade game of the year, it's fun, you can use plenty of weapons, all your disposision, if you like the style of the infamous, you'll like this.
    A story fun to hang out this incredible passing game.
    Its effects are amazing, the cartoonish style that makes it look beautiful.

Enemies    Sunset Overdrive is a furiously fast take on the open world third-person shooter that delivers high-quality gameplay and good times through all of its excessively loud silliness

    WHAT THE GAME DOES WELL
    You are meant to traverse around the city as fast as possible by using your super human ability to turn an entire Metropolitan city into your own personal skateboarding park. Enemies move at you very quickly, so you have to use your physical talents to zip-line, grind-rail and bounce to both escape and attack enemies. The action is almost like a rail shooter, except you still maintain control of your character at all times.

    It took me a couple of hours to get the feel for how to really control your character. There’s definitely a learning curve, but once you get the hang of how to move using the environment, you become capable of doing a lot of really cool stuff that’s not that difficult to execute.
    Sunset Overdrive does a fantastic job saving your progress. I wish more games would adopt their generous re-spawn points, because I don’t like having to replay a part I already did over and over again. The game also now claims the title of most humorous re-spawn animations, as they cleverly spoof other video games and movies so well it almost makes you look forward to dying.

    Most of the humor in the game comes from breaking down the fourth wall and simultaneously pointing out the foibles and absurdity of Sunset Overdrive and all videogames in general. This is not the first game to do that type of humor, but they are one of the better ones at it, as most of the time the jokes land. This is easily one of the funniest games of the year.

    WHAT THE GAME DOES EVEN BETTER
    I started trying to create a character that looked like me, but it ended up looking like Bruce Vilanch and Zack Galifianakis did the nasty and created a baby.

    You can change your character’s appearance at any time, but when it looks like the love child of Bruce Vilanch and Zack Galifanakis, why mess with perfection?

    WHAT THE GAME COULD HAVE IMPROVED
    It did take a little longer than normal before I really got into the swing of the game and some people will be turned off because of that. The game feels like it controls a little stiff and difficult out of the gate, but as you become more and more familiar with the game mechanics, you soon realize that it always handled amazingly and you just had to work on technique.

    The campaign and side quests don’t take that much time as I completed them in under 20 hours and there’s nothing that really makes me want to go back and play any of the missions over. The game does have replay value, but it comes from going after the collectibles hidden throughout the open world. Because of how much fun it is to move through the city like a superhero, collecting scraps of toilet paper and stinky shoes becomes more fun than tedious.

    There is multiplayer, but it didn't do a whole lot to make me want to play it for very long. All you do is complete missions while working together with 8 players while also simultaneously competing against them for points. The first time I played it I finished 2nd and thought it was kind of cool. The second time around I finished 5th and then promptly lost interest.
    OVERALL
    The best Xbox One exclusive game yet. Sunset Overdrive is a game that above all knows how to have fun at all times and just like the poisoned energy drink in the game that turned everyone into mutants, it's contagious.

    I got an white xbox one with sunset overdrive, never played on xbox one before but I was presented with a fun, interesting and unique game. This game has amazingly random and fun weapons I.e teddy bear launcher. One thing other reviews haven't complimented is the amazingly crafted city, every street looks and feels completely different. The color pallet is vibrant and eye-popping, the Sunset City is huge and begging to be explored, and you've got the front seat to help uncover the issue at hand with the OD. The story doesn't take itself seriously, and you shouldn't either. The grinding andSunset Overdrive as one the best games I've played since September. The main campaign is a little short, but nothing to get upset about, there are still side quests, challenges, and multiplayer to do.     Sunset overdrive is an awesome game! It wasn't really on my radar but I picked it up anyway. I'm glad I did. The game is fast and filled with hilarious fun moments, cool weapons and looks amazing! If you're a gamer looking for a great game to have fun with there is no excuse not to own Sunset Overdrive! Take my word for it - You'll have a blast. :)

    Great game in several respects, excellent control and very colorful.

    The gameplay reminds me of Jet Set Radio series immediately and the game system for Dead Rising, combining other games and even making fun of them, it's a game you should not miss.

    The music is ok, but only connoisseurs of the genre will put the attention that deserve.

    If you have a Xbox One, is a must have game!

    This game is just hilarious and absolutely a blast to play. It looks a little hokey watching the commercials or videos but playing this game is where it's at. I'm glad I stuck with the Xbox one because it's just getting better and better.

    Anyway I'd have to say this is the best game of the xbox one/ps4 generation so far for me. I went in expecting the jokes to be forced and cheesy but I was surprised that there was actually some well written humour in there and I didn't find it annoying at all (again unexpected).

    The game isn't any more repetetive than any other sandbox game such as GTA, Infamous, Dead rising etc. The "boss" encounters in this game are fun and varied (more so than any of the above mentioned games) and the presentations and animations are top notch with their comic book style intros and cut scenes. The art direction in general is pretty cool.

    The controls didn't take me as long to get a handle on as some claimed, if you have played tony hawks in the past you'll pick them up pretty easily but it does take a little bit of time to get your hands around pulling off some of the moves quickly while aiming.

    The main story is a little on the short side for this genre (good length for fps but not for a sandbox - roughly 12-15 hours for the main story with minimal side quests) but there is a bunch of side quests and activities so if you are doing those while playing the main story (and really who plays a sandbox to pump through the main story?) it's a decent length.

    Performance wise I've had zero issues, no pop ins, no screen tear, no lag. Those zero reviews really haven't played this game.

    Anyway if you own an xbox one you should give this game a go, it's a lot of fun and a breath of fresh air with it's self aware humour. Too many games these days are taking the dark approach and this looks and feels different.    … Expand

    Being a teenager is almost synonymous with dreaming and exaggerating. And this is by channeling young and impulsive spirit which is not too much to say that "Sunset Overdrive", the exclusive Xbox One, is so far the best production of new generation computer games as well.

    I've logged 12 hours so far. This game gets exponentially more fun as you play it. It is an absolute blast. Get it. Don't let the negative reviews spoil a great experience. The game is beautiful. The comedy is original and funny. Never has a game made me laugh out loud like this. I would recommend this to anyone.

    What a fun game! Very fast paced. Great colors/graphics. Bouncing all over the place in a chaotic environment. Awesome!

Search time for games often take several minutes and is just the same small handful of missions for each area so can become very repetitive.     A good game with its strenght in gameplay and style. great movement and traversal just makes it a blast to play and to look at. The story is a bit lackluster but filled with quirky humour and stuff to blow up!
    Great pickup for some relaxed play when you dont want the heavy story, its just great fun, nothing more nothing less

    If you want Fun than that's the game for you, the history is nonsense but serves the game well, the graphics is awesome , the mechanics is awesome, The best Xbox One game of this generation.

The game does have it's cheesy moments, but they are hilariously cheesy because this game does not take itself seriously. It's truly in it's own class and is somewhat of a nod to classic video games of the past with it's fun factor.

    The traversal is tough at first, but easily mastered after a few hours, very fluid and never breaks the games fast parkour style mobility (no frame-rate drops, very smooth). The graphics and artwork are truly stunning. Imagine a Pixar movie, very colorful, very anti-grey like most games we have seen on next gen.

    The sound is excellent. The music in the game fits the atmosphere perfectly. I tried to imagine a different soundtrack and just couldn't. The entire theme of the game just goes hand and hand with the audio.

    The gameplay is extremely fun and takes open world gaming to the next level. I have seen many make comparisons to Jet Set Radio and other classic titles, but it does not compare to that of Sunset Overdrive.

    I really don't know what else to say other than this game puts a huge smile on my face. It's been a while since that's happened. #GameOn    … Expand

    What a hodgepodge game full of style over substance with Juvenile yet sharp humor , even though it borrows from Borderlands, Jet Set Radio, GTA , Infamous , Dead Rising and others of that ilk, this game still feels fresh and new and just so vibrant and lively !!! Please play this with the profanity filter on it's even more hilarious , don't ask me why, see ya in Sunset Overdrive.

    cheerful, fun, colorful is addictive. a good choice for anyone who enjoys a good action game with humor. Sunset Overdrive is for me a great candidate for the best game of the year.

    This game is a hoot.
    Now give me a map editor, loot table editor, and a baddie editor and I'll buy SO2 and 3 before they're even announced.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Personally, I wasn't too hyped about sunset overdrive. Nevertheless, on day one, I picked the game up. I really enjoyed the games campaign which I completed in roughly 11 hours (Yes, I was a noob). After the campaign I thought there wouldn't be a lot to do, but I can tell you, I was wrong. I really enjoyed doing all the quests after and each was different and diverse. I done a quest about collecting comics, where the person you was doing the quest for, was making a comic up about you. I thought that was really cool. I also enjoyed the humour of the game and found myself laughing quite frequently. The game also has so much content with all the weird and wacky weapons, overdrives (which are essentially perks), amps (perks, different than overdrives) and also things such as collecting essentials to make amps. Toilet paper, fizzie balloons, shoes just to name a few. The exciting thing is Insomniac are going to be adding more DLC so you're never going to get bored (who gets bored of killing zombies, anyway?!) My only negative of the game would be some of the missions in the campaign seem to drag on. Especially when trying to find the propeller, to what you think, you're going to escape the city. All in all Sunset Overdrive is an amazing game, heaps of fun and I would recommend to most, If not all, Xbox one owners.… Expand

    I'm a pc gamer, it's hard for me to switch to console games but I gave the game a try anyways. It turns out it was a really fun game and the art work is really cool. It is different than what I've ever seen before with other games. The monsters look pretty cool and vibrant. I like the happy colors. :)

The game makes direct references to the likes of Reddit, NeoGAF, and Facebook, which doesn't sit well with me but could be funny for others. The best portion of the game is in the gameplay though. Missions aren't too varied, but the method of combat and travel is in my opinion one of the most interesting in any open world game I've played. The game punishes you for staying on the ground, and gives you ample opprotunities to swing, run, and grind around buildings and in the air while fighting. There's a certain joy that comes out of pulling off combinations of stylish moves without stopping as you blast through the OD hordes. Overall I think Sunset Overdrive is a fun and self-aware new IP that deserves attention compared to the usual yearly releases, and Microsoft would do well to continue to reach out in this way.… Expand

    sunset overdrive is one by far the best games on the xbox one and one of the greatest games in 2014. i love insomniac games cuz of ratchet & clank and spyro. but im glad they shared their talent with other companies.

It may seem like such a dumb thing, but it's been a long time since I've truly been able to enjoy going from point A to point B so much in a game. People get wrapped up in finishing objective after objective in games, but with Sunset Overdrive you just get lost in the movement. Sure, it's possible to fast travel to a spot much closer to the objective to save time, but more often than not I found myself taking my time, grinding and jumping to my objective, stopping to kill the occasional group of baddies here and there, and generally making sure to stop and smell the roses. It is very easy to get lost in this game (in a good way).

    All that being said, the music is great (not what I would listen to normally, but fits the game very well), the graphical style is excellent, the weapons are hilarious and enjoyable, and there is PLENTY of content available to those looking. Sure, the humor can be childish at times, but maybe that's my cup of tea. I personally found myself laughing at nearly all of the dialog throughout the entire game.

    Note that I'm giving this game a 10 without ever touching the multiplayer. Even if the multiplayer is absolutely awful, it won't tarnish my view of the single player campaign and how much I enjoyed it.

As a fan of all of their previous work, I think Sunset Overdrive is their best game to date. Being their first open world sandbox game, it was a gamble for a studio that had never done it, but they applied of their expertise and knowledge of being veteran game developers and created Sunset Overdrive, a polished, colorful, wacky, enjoyable game that's like other games but with its own identity. I keep seeing comparisons to Infamous and I find them unfair. It seems like fanboys want to try to discredit the quality of Sunset Overdrive as a "clone" or something along those lines, and it's too bad that people act this way. I, myself, enjoy a lot of games from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. That said, all of them copy ideas from one another and aren't always the most original. Take Uncharted, for example. Great game, but it's clearly a rip on Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, both of which came before it. Take Killzone, for example. Solid games, but it's clearly a science fiction FPS that came after the likes of Half Life and Halo. Take Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, for example. Decent game, but it was clearly Sony's attempt at a Super Smash Bros. game. In my opinion, Sunset Overdrive looks and feels like Crackdown, adds in some Ratchet & Clank, then dials it up to 11 and makes it its own thing. Infamous was not the first game of its kinds. I can see how some young kids may have never played games like Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Crackdown, but history lesson, Infamous wasn't anything new. Sunset Overdrive is a great open world action romp that anyone can enjoy if they're not blinded by console partisanship.… Expand

    Sunset Overdrive is a colorful and fun addition to the action genre, that manages to entertain both the hardcore and the casual gamer. It took me 20 hours to finish the story mode, and that's not even counting the many hours that I sunk into multiplayer. I can't recommend Sunset Overdrive enough.

    Played for about 4 hours so far, and am really enjoying this game. Visually, it is gorgeous, the use of color and the design of the city is amazing, everything is crisp and frame rate is 100% solid. Most important, the combination of gameplay types is so much fun. The customization options for the character are second to none, weapons are fun and original.

The only problems with it are that the humor often includes references to other things and the side quests often are similar fetch quests.     Loved it. The only game of Xbox One I have, besides The Master Chief Collection, but it is simply excellent. I have played open-world games before, but never like this. The excitement never stops, the missions are witty, and the story is just good video-game fun. Good visuals, an attractive personalization and a game play that takes known elements and gives them a great and different perspective.

It can for sure stand on its own, and is definitely worth a purchase if you have an XB1. It is a very unique game that is constantly throwing action in your face left and right, from start to finish. As others have said, this game is a nice breath of fresh air in a current gen that is very over saturated with "supr srs" games that take themselves a little too seriously.

    The movement mechanics around the city are fluid and great. You feel like the entire city is a sort of playground for you to grind, jump, bounce, swing, and just play around in. Everything on the map exists for the kinetic and fluid movement system that the game is based on. Pulling off really cool moves as you alternate between grinding, air dashing, bouncing, wall running, etc. around the city while you shoot ridiculously funny and unique weapons is what the combat system is all about. You have to constantly keep moving in order to not get bogged down and killed by enemies, and everything in the game lends itself to this type of play-style.

    There are a variety of things to do in the city. There are of course the main story missions, and then there are sets of side missions for the different factions you meet throughout the game. There are also challenges spread all throughout the map that include activities from killing hordes of enemies in different ways, to performing acrobatics in order to collect point tokens, etc. On top of that, there are collectibles as well, but you never really feel like you are dredging through the map to complete some sort of checklist, since the collectibles are very conveniently placed where you would be exploring anyway.

    Speaking of combat, it never got old for me from start to finish. From the very first mission with the first weapon you receive, to the last missions where you are shooting laser beams and bowling ball bombs, the combat just keeps growing in variety and fun as you play and unlock different perks called "amps" for your weapons as well as amps for different "hero" (character) slots. Amps are a cool and diverse way to change your combat play style up as there are a variety of different effects that compliment each other not only during the campaign, but also online. Some amps allow you to heal "allies" (other online players doing missions with you) and are cool to switch to when you know you are going to be playing an online session. Also, online mode called "Chaos Squad" is a blast as the crazy factor is increased x8 and there is just constant insanity at all times with everyone's weapon and amp effects going off all over the place.

    The game took me around 17 hours to beat. I did all of the main missions (obviously), all of the side (blue map icon) missions, a handful of the challenges (green map icon) missions that I found fun, and I also popped into online mode a bit to play with groups of people. Collectibles aren't really a big deal for me, but I grabbed them when I saw them, and had enough of them to unlock some cooler amps later in the game.

    In the end, if you are looking for a game that is a breath of fresh air, fast paced but still laid back because of its casualness, and also just plain fun, then this is it. This game totally took me by surprise. What I thought was going to be a "time killer" game actually turned out to be one of my favorite games on my new XB1 so far. Would recommend.    … Expand

    Este juego es una obra maestra, muy bueno en su jugabilidad, graficos, personajes carismaticos y una historia medio ramdom y muy divertida ala vez. Su mundo abierto es demasiado bueno ya que esta muy colorido y detallado, sus misiones no hay ninguna que sea aburrida incluso hastas las misiones secundarias son muy buenas y divrtidas, sin dudas uno de los mejores juegos de esta generacion

    Pretty good! The story was fun and had quite a few funny moments throughout. The voice acting was perfect and I really liked the music choices. I also really appreciate that the story was a manageable length.     The main character is a random guy who gets caught up in a soda-fueled zombie apocalypse and realizes that it's pretty awesome to swing and slide your way around the city shooting things with homemade weapons. The map/story is divided into sections to rally different factions to your cause. Each faction is very unique and a huge part of what drew me to the game in the first place. The dialogue and voice acting are done perfectly and definitely funny enough to get a few laughs.

    The missions are a bit hit and miss. Sometime they are incredibly original or designed to show off new abilities or weapons, but others can be repetitive or (the worst) base defending. In a game with such amazing traversal mechanics, who's idea was it to put base defense in there?

    Most of the weapons felt a little underwhelming. There are a lot of cool ideas and a significant ability to upgrade for guns and abilities, but I think a game like this would have been better served by letting you out-damage the enemies a little more. Most guns seem to hit like spitballs while the enemies can kill you real quick if they hit you.

    I did have frequent audio glitches where the sound would cut out completely, but nothing that a bit of saving and reloading couldn't fix.

    I also picked up the edition that includes the DLC's which were at least as fun as the main campaign without overstaying their welcome. Zipping around the Oil Rig and the Robot Factory was still entertaining and the writing and voice acting still had some great moments.    … Expand

    Sunset Overdrive is a colourful,fun and humourous game which is enjoyable from start to finish.Great weapons and respawns are a highlight,as well as a fine soundtrack.While there is some repetitious missions,you'll likely be too busy having fun to care.

    This is one amazing game. What set this apart from any other sandbox game out there is that is does not forget that it is a game. Game should be fun and that is what this is. It is fun, fun and more fun. For those who don't have this get it.... If you were looking for a reason to buy yourself a xbox one here is the reason. The reason is Sunset Overdrive.

    The gameplay is fluid, and keeping your multiplier going is addictive and rewarding. Big world that is filled with stuff to do, and the story kept me driving to the end. There is colour splashed across the map throughout the game making it all feel smooth and vibrant, as well as quirky characters and comedy that keeps things interesting.

    I've played through the campaign    Sunset Overdrive is a fantastic game. There is something endlessly entertaining about bouncing off of cars, vents, boxes, grinding across rooftops and jumping from building to building. There is colour splashed across the map throughout the game making it all feel smooth and vibrant, as well as quirky characters and comedy that keeps things interesting.

    I've played through the campaign and played all of the challenges, with still a heavy amount of missions left to do. There are tons of things to unlock and plenty of customisation options. There are imaginative and larger-than-life costumes that you can mix and match from, making your player feel like a living and breathing cartoon superhero. The game never takes itself seriously either, often breaking the fourth wall with characters discussing that they are in fact in a video game and yes, it's all a bit ridiculous.

    The game is also impressive from a technical standpoint. With so much going on on screen, there is very rarely any hint of slow down - and this includes online. There will be literally hundreds of zombies flying at you, explosions from left to right and collectibles bursting from the debris but the software manages to keep up. Overall Sunset Overdrive excels in many areas and any Xbox One owner should consider picking this up.    … Expand

    I love this game! Insomniac did a great game with good jokes, colorful graphics, fantastic villain's and weapon, with cool heroes and crazy story. This is the one of the best their games. Ever.

    Sunset Overdrive is one of the funniest games I have ever played. Also, the gameplay is so much fun, and I never wanted to stop playing. Surprisingly, the story is very well too.

The playability is the smoothest, most creative I've ever seen; you can cross the whole city (quite big, too) without ever stepping a foot on the floor, grinding and bouncing away. I haven't found a single bug in over 30h of game. Weapons and upgrades are fun and meaningful, andI don't give two pennies about the PS4-Xone debate.     I've only put in about 6 hrs into this game but I am having tons of fun so far. The jumping and grinding mechanics seemed a bit cheesy at first to me, but now that i am getting better at them, they definitely add something to differentiate this game from other similar games.     This is the most horrifically underrated game ever. I can understand it getting a few low ratings because of the jealous PS4 fanboys, but I didn't think the user reviews would stoop below infamous second son. Unbelievable. Sunset Overdrive is just too innocent, too unique, and too fun. It deserves a much higher rating.

    I won't lie, at first glance the game looks absolutely boring and bland, but that's because for some reason the developers chose to start the game in a depressing, scarce, and boring looking brewery area, and to top it all off the first main character you meet is an annoying turd who has a permanent hard-on for amps. As you journey out of the brewery, the game becomes more vivid and exciting as you view more saturated and varied environments. It's kind of like the game builds up quality over a short time.

    The humor is great, but the greatest humor is from your own player character, and you can't help but build a connection with them. The characters are very characteristic and have their own perks that make them unique. The story is... surprisingly great and immersing as you explore different areas that somewhat represent different social cliques. Graphics are great and animations are fluid.

    However, there are some things that aren't so great as well. The music is very generic for some reason, it would have been brilliant if they had added punk or indie rock to the soundtrack to bring in some more life and excitement to the game. Also, one thing I didn't like was the late game. I won't spoil it, but it isn't very in-depth and feels very rushed, I barely got to know any of the people there.

    In the end, the game is pretty great, but it isn't the best game in the world. In the reviews, there are either hyped and overzealous Xbox One fanboys or Butthurt Ps4 fanboys. Either way, the game is pretty great and you should pick it up.    … Expand

    With eye-popping visuals and fun action, Sunset Overdrive manages to be unique in a sea of generic "zombie" games. Although it does come short on the plot.

    This game is just stunning, it's so open and vivid, truly next gen.
    I've put around 25 hours into this game, I never want it to end. Everything is great from the weapons to the movement. This game nails everything needed for a fun game.
