    In a dystopian future where human dramas mix to the search for a better life, State of Mind tells us the touching and surprises-filled tale of two fathers in search for the truth about their families. Great storytelling and brilliant low-poly environments are the foundation for a satisfying adventure game whose only downsides are its too inexpressive and stiff, but very well characterized, characters. Definitely suggested for lovers of adventure games and dramatic sci-fi/cyberpunk tales.

    f you're a fan of science fiction stories, such as the Deus Ex games, you'll most likely find something to like in State of Mind. It's got some nice twists and surprises once it starts moving along at a good pace. The number of characters you eventually play as and the learning of some good information about each of their lives helps the story out a good bit. Also, the game's style by itself was enough to draw me into it from the get-go.

    The main character may need time to grow on you, but the complex narrative and the questions that arise in your mind will guarantee that you’re hooked in for a thrilling ride. Sure, it can occasionally be slow-paced, but nevertheless the puzzling sections keep things ticking over nicely.

    Sure, it’s derivative and predictable too, but it’s there where the game gets its strong footing. Also, we need more protagonists like Richard. His imperfection makes him more realistic than typical squeaky-clean heroes who are never wrong and act always in an altruistic manner. True to European branch of fiction, State of Mind doesn't feel like underlining or sugarcoating matters. Either you get them or don't, and the game gives a damn if you don’t.

    If State of Mind is slow, it’s only because it takes the proper amount of time to unfold its world and story. Gameplay may be a bit limited but there are so many good ideas about the concepts it evokes that you can’t help but love it.

    If you're able to look past the lack of a strong central story, though, you'll be left with a gorgeous game built on some excellent (albeit underutilized) narrative foundations.

    An intriguing sci-fi adventure with some neat concepts at its core, State of Mind's visual style and the prescribed nature of its action can be off-putting, but dig in for the ride, and you'll enjoy a smart narrative that eventually pays off. Definitely worth sticking with.

    The story is quite original and kept me engaged just to see what happens next. State of Mind is well written and does have a lot of quality voice talent, despite some audio issues that persist throughout. The technical performance remains very smooth, though its visual details and its intriguing plot is what holds everything together. By and large, this is a game for those that relish single-player experiences.

    Sometimes traversing in the game was a bit annoying because the movement of your character feels clunky and awkward. I enjoyed the puzzles that were offer in the game in terms of the gameplay there isn’t much else. Does State of Mind do enough to get a recommendation from me? All in all sometimes I fall in love with a game due to a fantastic story and to say State of Mind had a very intriguing and fantastic story would be quite the understatement. In fact it’s without a doubt the best aspect of the game and that’s pretty impressive considering the game doesn’t get too much wrong at all. Obviously a story wouldn’t be as good if it didn’t have good presentation and thankfully I’m pleased to say that both the visuals and sound design shine brightly at all times. This very good presentation then makes the world in which the game takes place in come alive, which is very important because it makes you forget about the fact that the game doesn’t offer much in terms of gameplay. Despite its lack of gameplay I still recommend this game quite highly though because it hooks you from start to finish and delivers some very memorable moments along the way.… Full Review »

    Gameplay is just slightly more than a typical walking simulator, but the story is great. However the ending was pretty weak.
