    HONEST REVIEW: The game is not bad at all, the gameplay if you like this type of game (no, it's not a zombie killing game but more a management game) is ok, has some (a ton) of bugs like being hard to interact with objects, you can break missions very easily and I had to restart the game twice because I got stuck in a rock... but it's not really bad. But, and this is a big BUT, the game looks awful and has a lot of framerate drops (and I'm not sure at which resolution it's being rendered, it looks like 720p but it may be because the filters, look next), I'm accostumed to VR so I don't get motion sickness very easily (nothing at all to be honest), and this game makes me want to puke, it has an extremely awful motion blur and grain filter which makes the game look outdated and induces sickness. Until the game corrects these, better play it on PC or wait unti lit's fixed (playing on Xbox One S)… Expand

    repetitive and boring without a sence of progress almost the entire game until you realize what to do becuse the game wont tell you and still after knowing it is actually nothing good to be honest, the first one was way better and with a story to follow

    Ya sabíamos que todo iba demasiado bien. Hemos perdido a Olivia. Cole no pudo hacer nada para salvarla de la horda de 'ojos rojos' mientras él destruía el núcleo de Plaga. Casi perdemos a los dos. Afortunadamente, tenemos buena provisión de curas.

    I've played it from its release state to current. The game is still very buggy, has no story, horrible vehicle driving functionality (nothing like you’d expect in this decade), and has beyond tedious game play. To make matters worse, they added constant spawning of zombies every few seconds. You can kill every zombie in sight. Then turn you back and 3 more will magically appear. Nothing about the game is difficult, but it does succeed in being annoying with these mechanics. The devs take forever to release an update/patch to correct things, and when they do, they bring in new bugs. Makes people wonder if the devs even play the game they designed.

    The game had a lot of potential but failed in just about everything. And that includes the 15-year-old graphics. SOD1 was much better in just about every aspect. The only thing SOD2 brings to the table is the option to play indefinitely, which you couldn't do in SOD1 since there wasn't any way to generate enough of all needed resources.

    Your typical game session is- Get a call from an enclave (since everyone but you completely incapable of doing anything), drive over to them, accept their demand (which is asking for something), drive to said location on the map that contains what they want, then drive back to them and deliver it, then go drive back home. Your vehicle will either get stuck or flip at least once) spin out a bunch of times, and you’ll need to refuel the at least once car every round trip. All while zombies magically appear and a horrible "glare" effect is occurring on the car. By this time an infestation should appear that you should go clear. If not, your people will start complaining, lowering moral. Outposts are almost pointless as they don't do much.

    Multiplayer is basically you just helping the host do their thing for their base, then disappearing. It can be fun as well but it's not a true multiplayer world. And there is a lot of loading too. Load into your game, then loading to find someone, and finally loading into their game. If you quit or get disconnected, you get sent back to game menu. Then you will have to load back into your game again then start the multiplayer loading(s) again.    … Expand

Repairing cars literally flings them in the air and they helocpoter in the air for 5 seconds before blowing up, or my favorite one where they slide across the ground on their side and smash and blow up instantly when it touches a wall, this has been in the game for 4 years. Text bugs are also frequent and were only recently fixrd with juggernaut edition. Looking at their resume the only game they (Undead labs) ever made is State of Decay, which both of them (1 and 2) end up being garbage, but especially 2. If you paid for this game you got scammed, if you got it with gamepass your time got scammed, only good for achievements or playing with friends/modders, every thing else it is a mess. Driving is terrible but the only way to traverse, car gets stuck every second and you get punished with being swarmed by zombies (even WORSE on harder difficulties), unstuck command is so useless you might as well leg it out of the car if it gets stuck. it takes 10 seconds to use, you have to be still (enemies will drag you out your car), and has a cool down. Ally AI is terrible and a joke unless it is enemy humans then they become OP (they will insta one shot you on harder difficulties, you have to shoot them dozens of times to kill them or headshot them multiple times). The spawns are terrible and zombies will render in on your screen last second, even worse when bloaters or entire packs spawn on your car and damage it or near insta kill you on harder difficulties, some how rendering is even worse on Series X. Overall terrible game. Buggy, laggy, crashes around clusters of plague hearts, TERRIBLE driving (only way to traverse), god awful enemy spawning, and nothing redeeming. No out of world soundtrack, absolutely no story, no character development. For a game lacking so much it is a surprise these terrible devs still could not muster any talent or usefulness in the few areas you can tell they 'tried', 5 years of their legacies down the drain making a forgetabble mess that became apart of the "Xbox has no good games" meme. One of Xbox Studios throw away talent. If state of decay 3 is good its because Microsoft is actually getting more involved with undead labs due to how terrible their games are and providing them a triple A budget. Developers who are so talentless (Fallout new vegas driving mod is better than this games driving) even Microsoft knew they had to get involved and give them a bigger team because they cannot even make a simple game by themselves. It has been 4 years and none of these issues are fixed. Just extra 'content' no asked for, like recently they decided to finally give you a secondary weapon, something thousands of games done before and they finally, after four god blessed years, mustered enough brain cells to implement something a literal higschool CS student could code.… Expand

    Won't even let me play. Awful. My brother and I both bought this game. After waiting for it to download, we loaded it up on both Xbox's. On his Xbox, his screen turned black when trying to start a new community, and nothing would happen after that. On my Xbox, I can make it to the character selection screen before beginning the game, at which point it freezes upon making a selection andWon't even let me play. Awful.     I have played for probably 6-8 hours and find it fun, it has a lot of the first games style with the addition of making supplies like food, gas and cars seem much more limited. I would recommend esp at the 30 price point.

    I'm disappointed with this game. It's essentially just SoD 1 with new locations and a few new skills to gain. Which can be fun if you really enjoyed the first game. However for those looking for something new to be added onto that formula, you'll be sadly disappointed I'm afraid. Much of the mechanics have been a bit polished up from the first one and the aiming can be a bit easier. That'sI'm disappointed with this game. After the desaster around Scalebound and the how-can-we-put-as-little-content-as-possible-in-a-game Sea of Thieves, the platform lacks the AAA exclusive games.
    However, this review is about State of Decay 2 and not Xbox as a whole. So why did I return my copy to the store after 15 hours of gameplay? It's the classic problem with "open world" games that are advertised as being diverse in terms of content. The game gets repetitive really quickly and even after a few hours I was not immersed into the game. The reason for this might be the annoying bugs I encountered (indicator why it's not AAA) as well as the already mentioned underwhelming graphics.

    I can have fun with titles like Minecraft or games that focus on their art style (Okami). But when being promised a high quality game in 2018, I don't expect 2012 graphics. If you don't believe me, look at footage of this game and then compare it to other "big" titles. The price is not justified for how the game is performing in terms of story, bugs and graphics. It hurts to admit it, but this game damaged the Xbox platform more than it helped.

    Don't buy this game.

    The game is 0 points. Because it bothers you very quickly, it does not make sense, there is little content, stupid enemies, stupid tasks. But the price tag is like a good AA game. Lags at first on consoles. Another trash from Microsoft.

    Poor mechanics and extreme bugginess turn this great idea into a hellish mess. On both Xbox One and PC I've encountered multiple bugs that were absolutely game-breaking for me at that very moment. These include being stuck in random areas during important fights and cars blowing up because of clipping issues.

    State of Decay 2 doesn't live up to todays standards for a video game. Very dated graphics with repetitive game play. Glitches make the experience even worse. I'm glad I played a friends first before purchasing it for myself. Not worth the money right now. $20 title at best.

    I didn't expect this game to be so fun and addictive, since it has had reviews in its launch. I guess every weak aspect has been improved and updated. The characters feel human and engaging. Environment, gameplay, and reward cycle are simply great. Every raid could be your last.

    Graphics are not his gen at all, the world is empty and dull and visuals are just not impressive for this gen, if it looked last gen but ran at 60FPS it would be fine, but nope its a 30fps game. The games has less bugs than the first, less, the first game was literally unplayable with bugs, so yeah there is less.
    One of the most annoying thing is the characters. SOD1 had actually interesting characters, there was some attractive girls as you would want in your end on the world zombie fantasy and many side stories and charters you ended up interested even caring about.
    The Character in SOD2 are just crazy bland, there stories are the most uninteresting bunk you could imagine, find tools and record players, crap like that. And most imitating more offensively is they have clearly gone with "Averting of the Male Gaze" thing woke developers love these days. Making every female character just plain ugly and completely unappealing, so as not to appeal MEN!! MEN the main supporters and consumers of their product, they set out to not appeal to them!!!! Many men in the game are very attractive, so they know how to model and make faces, just decided their male fan should only get uggos in their survivor fantasy.
    Overall the game is a hard pass, there a few interesting hours at the start as you learn the game, but then quickly become a chore as the whiney ugly woman contact every 30 secs to demand something.    … Expand

Ive owned this game since it launched and since then I may have gone 4 nights without playing it. There is so much to do in this game no matter what direction you play. In fact outside of some soupy textures here and there the game actually looks really good. IMO this game is more of a single player game. The multiplayer would be the part I take points away. I dont like how you cant run through the game with friends and have everything save together. This "helping out" crap is probably the most stupid idea I have ever seen in a game. They need to take note from games like Dying Light. I also think that now that they have been fully acquired by MS the graphics moving forward in future games will look like Dying Light games.

    I do feel Xbox games have been unfairly reviewed this entire gen. Whether it be pixels to bugs most reviewers are leaving fun factor out of their reviews and that's BS. This game is incredibly fun and addicting! Over 2 million people bought it a week after it released and every time I am in my local Walmart there aren't any copies available.

Howerver, 2 criticisms (for me): (i) The Juggernauts (and the Ferals too, actually) seem so artificial and their only reason to be in the game is to make things difficult sometimes... And (ii) the permadeath should be only optional. I hate to dedicate so many hours into the game for later losing all in a mistake or a trap. Some people like this, but honestly, I wish I had the time for that. I don't. For the future, it would be nice to add more regular zombies in big cities, rather than artificial zombies that are more powerful. This way you keep a challenge but you get rid of the artificiality.    … Expand

I don't think there is any regression from the first game. If you enjoyed that, you will almost certainly enjoy this game. There is a large patch coming (juggernaut) in a couple of weeks, and after playing I am psyched. It could bring this rating up to a 9! If you have had any curiosity about this game, I would definitely reccomend you get this. Its often on sale nowadays. I was very skeptical going into tit and I would have gladly paid twice what I did knowing how fun it is.… Expand

    Much better than other games like Assassins Creed and Call of Duty.

    The amount of negative reviews is downright BS. Everyone holding this 30 dollar game to the standards of full priced AAA studios. Ridiculous. SoD2 improved on every aspect of its predecessor. Period.

    Its not perfect for sure but critics and users scoring it lower than the first game are just ignorant.

People who thinks it is way to hardcore is because they can't handle that I respect that but don't say it sucks because it's hard to play you should've done research.     I downloaded this game from Xbox game pass and I've played this game a lot for over 3 days. I think it's great so far. They seem to have ironed out most of the bugs since the May release, and it is running very smoothly.

    The game play is very entertaining and the driving, gun play and zombie killing is satisfying.     It is a wonderful game. It is very addictive and the graphics are very good. I have spent entire afternoons playing this game.

    I really do not understand the bad grades that the game has. I guess the game was buggy at launch, but from my experience I can say it's a great 10/10 game.

This could have been gaming gold but it was squandered by inept and juvenile developers who refuse to deliver what the community asked/s for. Instead they desperately hope to entice you into continued gameplay with absurd and gimmicky transmogs that appeal to ten year old Fortnite players and the 50 year olds who design them.… Expand

    Right away, I noticed that the studio did not try to get brazen and repair something that wasn't broken; which was the core gameplay. You still run communities, scavenge and handle the undead the same, but there have been some welcome changes like improvements to combat and overall map design. Personally, I like that they played it safe and improved on what worked.
    The added co-op only seems to make the game easier, which to me seemed annoying. You'd figure, the more non-AI players you have, the harder the game gets; requiring you to work together to survive.

    All I got, was players handing buttloads of supplies, high powered weapons and ammo. (Which is nice, but really kills the whole point of survival.) Personally, I prefer AI to normal players for this type game *shrugs* Although, there is a lot of untapped potential for multiplayer in a game like this.

    Then there are the bad things. Bugs are still bad and quest still have disappearing NPCs. Thankfully, the developers did give us a quick fix, know as the "stuck" command. Yep, you can radio to have you or car unstuck if you glitch. (Provided zombies are stomping your ass, while doing this. Which they will.) Also, you can't play this game for longer that 3 hours. After that, you will get bored and frustrated (provided you aren't surviving well, which happens A LOT) Granted, this one doesn't really stack the odds against you as bad as playing SoD1's Breakdown DLC.

    Questing is pointless, save for gaining new survivors, who also seem to have less personality than it's predecessor. In regards to questing, the game falls flat. Had they added a story section to each region, it would've given the scavenging and expanding, a sense of purpose.

    State of Decay 2 truly is improvement in terms of core gameplay, but leaves you feeling hollow with its lack of a good story and hordes of game bugs. Killing zombies and building yourself to survive it all is still fun, but that is where its at.

    Which is a shame, because the developer could've done so much more. Maybe its because M$ didn't throw enough checks at them for a good quality QA team and writers. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a ton of improvement from this tiny studio, but there was a lot of potential to be had, considering that Microsoft had so few 1st party titles to carry their system.

    I'll still play it, but if your not a fan of the game, this will be a pass.    … Expand

    Excellent title, and while the gameplay loop does get a little repetitive, it is one of those titles that you can put up for a few weeks, and then come back to and it's still fun. I'm also a big fan of the fact that the develop is still constantly adding new features and content to the game 4 years later; it's not abandoned after a few months like so many other titles/franchises are.

    pretty good sequel to the first game it improves on every aspect of the first state of decay if you can get past the online issues and glitches and a slightly choppy frame rate it is a good game it can be difficult some times and a difficulty option would be great and the limited co-op needs more and the draw distance is terrible sadly the game just needs support and it will be fine.

    The big change for me was that with every save you create you get a different set of characters and a different map meaning if you want to start over it doesn’t feel like boring and monotonous. But after a few hours no matter the save it starts to feel just that boring and monotonous, it feels as if you’re doing the same thing over and over and by the end of it I wasn’t doing things because I wanted to but because I don’t want things to get any worse for my play session hoping it would mean I could do some more things that I wanted to do but that never happened, and after a few hours of the same style of missions you just begin to pray for some time to do what you want to do.
    However, the implementation of multiplayer may combat this issue with friends making it more fun, however I did not play any of the multiplayer and from what I’ve seen it’s not entirely a smooth experience. This is why I haven’t used the multiplayer to inform my score since I see both positives and negatives and without playing it I can’t assess which creates a stronger feeling of enjoyment or distain.
    Another issue is the glitches, they’re bountiful. It’s not uncommon to run into something that is obviously unintentional and it destroys the sense of emersion that is essential for a game designed to give you the chance to act as if you’re apart of this zombie apocalypse.
    Overall, I don’t regret my choice to play the game but I don’t think I would care too much if I missed it entirely. Once again a Xbox semi-exclusive doesn’t compare to the games like Detroit, God of War & Spiderman (from what we’ve seen it seems set to be an instant classic).    … Expand

    There is no "Storyline", which is bad. The gameplay is ok. The graphics aren't great, just like the game environment. The good about this game is the surviving and the fun it provides (if played with friends).

    It is a "fun" little time-sink, but i felt nothing for the team one put´s together more times than i did feel anything. You will spend most of your time doing favors for people unable to put together 1 + 1.     I had great hopes going into this game, they were quickly dissolved. The gameplay is repetitive and fails to live up to it's predecessor. It has redeeming factors as a game in it's own right, but it fails to add much new in comparison to the first State of Decay. I wouldn't recommend buying this to much people, unless they're a huge fan of the zombie survival genre.

The game still has many issues and glitches but most have been patched. As I played the single player DLC it reinvigorated my interest in SOD2 and I even played the base game as well as heartland.

    Looking to the future, undead labs is now owned by microsoft. Personally I think the sky is the limit for this franchise and the team is dedicated to building the ultimate zombie survival game. The only thing left is for xbox to actually invest in the ip, which they fully intend to (otherwise they wouldn't have bought the studio). SOD2 seems to have lacked the funding to have been fully AAA, but i fully expect the franchise to move in that direction.

Trata de sobrevivir manteniendo tu base repleta de recursos, puedes ampliarla de tamaño y modificarla, controlas tantos personajes como seas capaz de convencer y mantener sus necesidades, No va mal de inteligencia artificial. Tiene numerosos bugs que han ido corrigiendo a lo largo del tiempo, pero los importantes siguenJuego bastante entretenido, con una idea hasta ahora no vista.     2018 foi literalmente um dos piores anos do Xbox em toda sua história, só teve jogo lixo praticamente, esse aí, lançaram todo ''bugado'' e feio, para um console que foca em gráficos, no mínimo deveriam trazer algo melhor que isso aí, vergonhoso.

    It is a game that you can play for many hours, but in the end it ends up being somewhat repetitive and boring. In addition, the dubbing to Spanish Castilian does not exist and the graphic quality is not very good. Still I recommend trying it.

    May not be for everyone, but I enjoyed the game, even if it did go on a little too long and became repetitive. Definitely got attached to my characters and felt truly sad when I got hem killed by stupidity or bravado. Worth a buy... but not a game I expect to return to.

    Game is fun at base building and expands well from the first game by adding co op, however there is no story whatsoever and the game quickly gets very repetative like its predecessor. Killing zombies remains fun though

    Apesar de alguns bugs, o jogo é bem divertido. Ainda mais pelo fato de poder ser jogado em multiplayer, com mais 4 amigos. Você gerencia sua base e ainda tem que destruir os núcleos pestilentos. Recomendo.

    Random Generation.
    Ever single character besides your starters are completely randomized, and sure, more replay value, but the original state of decay's survivors actually made me CARE. Every little thing about them is randomized, so unless you like how they look, you would not give a monkeys left nut if one perished.

    General Positives-
    Blood plague, (On dread or higher) is actually quite a challenging yet fun addition.
    Unlike the original, if your car gets stuck, or is flipped upside down, you can just use a radio command, which is a great quality of life improvement.
    Having more than 1 save.
    The sheer amount of content, weapons consumables guns, and the bounty broker.
    Trading, instead of just tanking influence.
    Smooth graphics and animations.
    Outposts granting bonuses, accesesing survivor inventories.
    I always wanted to be a double sided axe murderer.

    Negatives-
    Basically no story at all.
    Plague heats are stupid easy on dread and lower.
    Freaks have no risk what so ever, as compared to the original, they are much easier to take on, (unless they are blood plague).
    Randomly generated characters with no character, as mentioned before.
    LOTS of technical issues, even compared to the original.
    Blood Plague is very easy to cure, and you dont need a high level infirmary, and, you DONT EVEN NEED A DOCTOR!
    Cars barely ever get damaged unless your on lethal or nightmare.
    Content from the first game is completely gone, such as-
    Search And Rescue
    Survey Request
    Ally In Trouble
    Character specific trust meters, in this game everyone is your best friend.
    Cars have 30000 slots.
    Fast searching has no risk, if a zombie or two show up, mash x, and your done. Sure, you could do that in the original, but combat requires more thought, as a zombie can grab you from wherever if they are next to you, now, its if you are directly infront of them.
    Sure there are lots of improvments, with this sequel, but its nothing compared to the original.

    It's good enough. Killing zombies is enjoyable, driving is fun, sometimes you canceven get an interesting quest. But still the game is quite repetitive. The good thing is that you can cross-play it.

    Innovations in State of Decay 2 don´t solve any problems, but rather add some more. The game unnecessarily forces on its multiplayer and feels very impersonal. [Issue#287]

    State of Decay 2 is going to be very hit and miss for a number of people. If you can ignore the flaws, there is a fun game to be had when played with a friend. That said, even if you ignore its flaws, you can’t deny that this game was not ready for release.

    Generally State of Decay 2 looks more like a remaster of the original game than a true sequel. It just does not expand the formula enough and still contains too many repetitive activities that make you go through the motions for the sake of getting it done. That’s why I recommend playing it in short sessions. I have no doubt that people unfamiliar with the first State of Decay will enjoy the second one much more, as everything will be new to them.
