I was very impressed with the improvements that have been made to the presentation side of the game because both the visuals and sound design have been done extremely well. There’s a ton of content for you to get to play with and each Spyro game that’s present is fun and had lots of thought and effort placed into them. I really enjoyed the story back in the day and once again I enjoyed the story again because without a doubt it has aged extremely well. One of my favorite things about this remaster is that it has stayed faithful to the original game’s and this means old-school gamers and newcomers alike can enjoy it. The camera can be an issue at times because at time your seem to be able to get full control of it. If you didn’t like the original games then this probably won’t change your mind. The Spyro the Dragon series were games I visited often when I was younger and to say I enjoyed them would be a massive understatement. As you can imagine then the kid in me came hurtling back to the surface when I knew they were both being remastered. The Crash Bandicoot remaster lived up to the hype so that meant I had high hopes when it came to the Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and thankfully I’m pleased to say that it doesn’t disappoint. Everything about this trilogy has been given the modern touch and from the very good visuals and sound design you can tell that a lot of thought and effort has gone into this remaster. It also carries a retro vibe with it as well and if you enjoyed the original game’s you’ll be pleased to know that the story is as funny as ever and the controls feel better than ever as well. At the end of the day then even though the camera can be a little bit of a pain at times this trilogy doesn’t suffer with any major issues. Instead it stays true to the original games and offers you a modern touch that breath life into the fantastic franchise that is Spyro. Expand

After over a year of development time, its EXTREMELY RUDE for people to be rating this game 0 just because of the download size. Hopefully this balances out the score a little.

game for anyone who likes 3d platformers. Don't let the low user score fool you, most of

I don't like that this game didn't get a 'full' physical release, but I understand why it was done. I think the size of a remake like this one was definitely underestimated by Activision, who's profit margin would've been effected by a 2-disc release. I think the only reason a physical release happened at all was for advertisement space on store shelves. I believe the game's physical release should have been a limited edition sort of thing, so that people who just want to experience the game can buy digitally, and the hardcore audience can preserve the game, and they get more ad-space on store shelves. Win-win-win there. I think the higher execs under-estimated how much people would have paid for a spyro special edition or something. Would've been better than just doing the physical release half assed, which doesn't help with the game's preservation - so I ended up just buying digital.

But this isn't on the game itself, or Toys for Bob for that matter. I think it was made with a lot of love. Controls feel really good, and it was a treat going through the game and looking forward to all the re-designs. The fact that they had to go back and re design every dragon from the first game was a huge under taking.

Graphically it looks great too, although the framerates can suffer a bit here and there. Feels like something that would've been avoided with a less ambitious foilage system, but I'm kinda ok with lower framerates on a 3d platformer. Really I think Spyro Reignited shined with its new art style.

Soundtrack is a mixed back. Some remakes are really great, especially in the first game. Spyro 2's had sort of a mixed bag, with some tracks lacking a bit of power. Wouldn't deduct a point for that except I really think they should patch in a button for changing the ost on the fly.

Speaking of patches, this game has yet to see one. While it was made with a lot of love, I hope to see continued support. Occasional bugs like enemies not disappearing after they're defeated can take me out of it a bit.

Great remake, I think T4B did a great job. Still, can't help but to feel their commitment to the original's design held them back a bit. Not really crazy about Spyro 3 or some of the difficulty spikes in the first game. If they ever get to do a Spyro game from the ground up, I will support that.

But as every game in existence of video games, it has some problems.

One of the bigger problems (and the reason why many people gave this game a low score), is of course, the Day One Patch. For me, i don't feel it's really a problem, despite taking my console an entire day to download.

The second problem was the camera. While again, not as big of a problem, it was sometimes really confusing to navigate Spyro.

But, if i look past those problems, this game is a pure masterpiece.

Toys For Bob, thank you, for reviving Spyro and letting us relive the glory days of 3D platformers.

This is wonderful collection of games that you should own if you like platformers based around collecting things. The original is basic but has a couple of very challenging maps that expect perfection of your moveset. The goal is to collect gems and dragons so you can enter the "boss stage" and hop onto a balloon. Since this is the first game I've ever beat (on the PS1) I'm very nostalgic to this one, and while most of it still holds up I'd have to say there are a couple things wrong with this remake. The jump is nerfed which will make a couple of jumps very frustrating. Especially the one in Cliff Town where a missed jump results in a 10 second loading screen. When you play it you'll know exactly what I mean. Next to this complaint the game still holds up really well. This is imo a must play classic.

Ripto's Rage improves on everything, giving you everything the first did, plus an actual story, cool bad guy you want to defeat, mini games that are simple but very good and a wider moveset. Even the stages have more variety. This one also gets rid of the "boss stages" and just makes them into bosses, which works great because unlike the first one the bosses here are challenging (especially Gulp). Here's where the series shines brightest in my opinion, lot of great and unique ideas that are executed very well. This one is a must play classic as well.

The Year of the Dragon starts to slack off however. It's by no means a bad game, however it loses a lot of focus the second one had. This one has a quantity over quality problem, where some of the mini games are really fun, while there are also ones that just are a bit underwhelming. This could have something to do that some of the mini games are a slight variation of the former game. This one also introduces new characters that all have weaker gameplay than Spyro does. Sheila is okay but kind of boring (2D is very frustrating though), Sgt Byrd which has very bad controls when you're in the air (which is his whole gimmick), Bentley which is either plain out boring to play as and infuriating in one of the mini games due to his camera being over the shoulder for no good reason and Agent 9 which is a poor man's shooter. Check this one out if you liked the first two, you'll have fun. But it's way too bloated for it's own good.

I absolutely love Spyro (Original trilogy, all the sequels belong in the trash), it was one of the franchises that made me the gamer I am today, so I have a big bias towards the little purple guy we all know and love... But, that will not stop me from criticizing the franchise I love, especially when you try to remake an original trilogy that was a masterpiece to me.

    RIGHT OFF THE BAT,
I absolutely love Spyro (Original trilogy, all the sequels belong in the trash), it was one of the franchises that made me the gamer I am today, so I have a big bias towards the little purple guy we all know and love... But, that will not stop me from criticizing the franchise I love, especially when you try to remake an original trilogy that was a masterpiece to me.

RIGHT OFF THE BAT, I have to mention that I am severely disappointed with the developers and publishers for simply ignoring consumer concerns and making a physical copy that should have been a damn download code, my copy downloaded just under 800 mbs from the disk and over 42 gbs from the internet... Why on earth was this decision made? I buy physical so I do not have to worry about relying on a server to stay active to play games, especially when there is NO MULTIPLAYER component... shame on Activision and/or Toys for Bob for this decision.

When it comes to the actual game, I think they did some really great things with the art design and challenges, as well as achievements/trophies, and the voice acting is all passable compared to the original. I have to also give points to whoever allowed the option to toggle original or new music in the game, because that just adds to the nostalgia and was definitely a nice touch and nod to insomniac.

Though I do have a few complaints in game as well, namely the really awkward camera control that seems a hell of a lot worse than the original game had, as it does not follow and shadow spyro's movements as actively as it should. It also takes longer to load up a level from the home world than the original did, which I cannot understand in the age of Xbox One X and PS4 Pro

+ Excellent graphics & remaster job
+ Vibrant and colourful art design
    + Fun characters
    + Music toggling option
    + Good voiceovers
+ A few fun new additions, along with achievements and trophies
+ Good balance of nostalgia and innovation
+ Fun gameplay moments we all loved are back!

    - Anti consumer business practices with online only download
    - Awkward camera controls
    - Has longer load times than the original games
    - Some gameplay mechanics like gliding/flying are worse than the original
    - A few minor bugs
    - Lengthy terms and conditions agreement right away for a kid-friendly game

Overall, this was a great effort by Toys for Bob, but it was ruined by terrible business practices, and certain gameplay mechanics that original trilogy fans like me will notice instantly. This could have been handled a lot better by both the publisher and developer. It is an absolute shame that they did this because this game is easily an 8 but the anti-consumer practice of making physical copies obsolete is entirely unfair, it ruins resale potential, collectable status, and makes it hard for players with poor internet connections to even get the game running. Learn from your mistakes.

A huge disappointment. The frame rate is inconsistent and ruins the ability to play the game consistently. This leads to repeated deaths from the being the slightest pixel off of a glide. Then there is a slow, painful loading screen to bring you back to some random checkpoint in the level far from the missed jump.

Only positive is that the graphics and voice acting are stellar. Too bad

+ The sense of humour in this game is childish, but I enjoyed the jokes and game references a lot.
+ The graphics are fine. They really shine with the dragons: the designs are great and they work perfectly with the new art direction. They struggle with any fur creatures though (they look ugly, which hits the hardest the second game).
+ The puzzles and exploration (starting from the second game) are quite enjoyable.

    Pros:
    - Controls are awful. Even after playing 30+ hours I wasn't able to make Spyro to do what I want. Always bumping into things and missing the ledges. They game has just never felt right for me.
    - Due to awful controls any flying sections are even worse (and in the third game they add vehicles sections that also suck). These sections just drain all the fun from the game and just prohibit to get all the achievements.
    - And the boss fights are even worse than flying sections. They are unfair and not fun at all. Each game fails in its own way. The first one feels like a bad version of Ori bosses, but with lame controls. The second one is the worst of the bunch with Gulp telepathically predicting which direction you're running at. The third one is more annoying and boring than tough with camera being your biggest enemy.

While the download time for the game is a bit of a wait, it's definitely worth it to be able to relive worlds from the PS1 era reimagined as a game in 2018 with improved graphics, voice acting, and cutscenes. It's clear some cutscenes are a little awkwardly animated, or their pacing is too quick, but that's a small gripe in comparison to the bigger picture. The newly designed characters are also incredibly charming in comparison to their older versions, with much more defined characterization. This game is definitely worth the playtime for completionists and casual players alike.

The Reignited Trilogy is fresh yet familiar, a future-man cruising along in a well-cared for vintage hot rod, a neo-Buddha with a sense of humor.

The love and devotion of Spyro himself is clear and consistent throughout all 3 games, palpable in all areas from set design to the "reignited" soundtrack to the freshened gameplay mechanics. If you are brand new to the franchise, nothing about the game suggests it is a simple rehash - it has a heartbeat of its own.

The OG Spyro master, the newbie dragon, even the parents of us classic Spyro-ites who remember the shamelessly joyous music, the distinct sound of the Pause Menu, and the cheeky croaks of Gnasty Gnorc's minions constantly wafting throughout the house after school - all will fall in love all over again with this most lovable of purple creatures.

Yes this game does have it's flaws. one would be the file download, but spyro is a different beast to Crash and the worlds and levels are much larger so people must bare that in mind before complaining.
I had been meaning to buy spyro 1, 2 and 3 for a while now, and this trilogy couldn't have come out at a better time. my birthday is in late November, in fact it was the Monday after release here in the UK and although i will inevitably buy the PS1 games anyway, this supplied me with a means to play these three games on my x-box at an extremely reasonable price in 2018 (£29.99 in the UK). the first game is miraculously re-created and some of the hidden "cheat" codes that can make spyro look like his PS1 counter-part or give him the sun glasses from the final cut-scene after gnasty's loot just complete this almost perfect remake, and yes i have encountered some bugs, but at least I didn't spend £45 on a game that crashes my console. it also helps that i am one of my only friends that has an x-box one i much prefer single player games, and platformers are some of my favourite types of games, up there with action-adventure and JRPG's. this is a fantastic deal and ,considering the development time, an extremely well polished game. what more could you ask for.

The only people who will enjoy this game are people who enjoy collectathons, ticking off every jewel and challenge for each level.

If you're not interested in that mind numbing monotonous gameplay style that was acceptable back when hardware was limiting, you will complete most levels in less than 4/5 minutes each

The only saving grace you could give this trilogy, is that in a generation of lazy remasters, you get full fledged remakes, with a beautiful art style. Does get a little bit jarring hearing most character voices being done by Tom Kenny (SpongeBob) but with an ever so slightly difference accent. I paid £12 for it and for that price, I am happy with what I got. All things considering, I am even more happy I didn't pay full price

This trilogy collection is a great way to revisit Spyro in his prime. I only played Ripto's Rage on the playstation years ago, so being able to play the all three game in one is a joy. Better graphics, upgraded character models, a few added extra secrets, and the guidebook made it so much easier to travel from one world to the next. The remastered version is great, but like all remasteredThis trilogy collection is a great way to revisit Spyro in his prime. Better graphics, upgraded character models, a few added extra secrets, and the guidebook made it so much easier to travel from one world to the next. The remastered version is great, but like all remastered games they come with more bugs and glitches than the originals. Nothing game breaking but just a little annoying like Spyro sliding to random spots after you stopped moving. Movement is even worse for the other characters in Enter the Dragon. Spyro would also temporarily get stuck to the ground and jumping was the only way to get unstuck. On a few occasions the whirlwind elevators would drop Spyro rather than putting him in a glide and could only be fixed by exiting the game and going back into it. Since they were able to be worked around, I didn't mind them to bad. It was really great to revisit these games. Expand

Spyro: Year of the Dragon habe ich schon als Kind auf der PS1 geliebt und jetzt in einer noch schöneren Optik macht es noch viel mehr Spaß. Super Spiel.

Most impressively, each of the dozens of levels has been thoughtfully recreated with impressive attention to visual and audio detail, bringing the magical feel of the series to life once more. Fans of the originals will find almost nothing to dislike, and I can see Spyro delighting a new generation of players with the quality of this collection.

If nothing else, the studio’s excellent work on Spyro: Reignited Trilogy shows the franchise in good hands, and a new game could address some of the poorly-aged elements and other fan complaints, like the the Reignited Trilogy‘s lack of subtitles.

There is something magical about this trilogy. Sure Crash had more fanfare, but Spyro feels like a piece of history lost. Going back to these games was a pure joyful experience. Whether it was my fatigue of current titles or just that I crave colorful platformers, I cannot recommend this game enough. Even with its blemishes it was a title that I spent the most time smiling while playing.
