    I’ll commend the game for its level detail and variation, but Spencer could have been a lot more than what it is had the developer spent more time refining the game’s mechanics. The game’s repetitive enemies, its rinse and repeat functionality, its disregard as to what makes the jump ‘n run concept fun, together with its technical issues, makes for an adventure that’s more often frustrating than it is exciting.

    It features an easy to pick up and play style which means gamers of all ages can play this and have a little bit of fun from time to time.TheIt features an easy to pick up and play style which means gamers of all ages can play this and have a little bit of fun from time to time.The presentation side of the game is nothing special I actually found both the visuals and sound design to be quite quirky and in some ways charming. Each level has a decent amount of variety present in them which in the end gives each level a little bit of fun and a few enjoyable moments along the way. Unfortunately the game suffers with quite a few technichal issues which can build up a little frustration and at the same time make the fun levels dwindle. I was a little disappointed with the enemies in the game because they weren’t very creative and that made them pretty boring. In terms of content the game doesn’t have too much and the content that is available to you lacks a little in terms of variety. There is not much of a story present and the story that is present is very basic to say the least. All in all there’s that many platforming adventures out there that quite a few game’s get lost in the abyss of this genre. A new game that enters the genre must have something special then to stand out and unfortunately Spencer just doesn’t have that. Don’t get me wrong it isn’t a particularly bad game and it does offer quite a bit of fun thanks to the variety that’s present in each level, but this fun doesn’t last too long because the game has too many underlying issues. These issues wouldn’t be too much of a problem though if the game didn’t suffer with the technical problems it has as well and this unfortunately does hold Spencer back even further. This is a shame because like I said earlier it can be fun in short bursts and the easy to pick up and play style means gamers of all ages can play this game without too much difficulty. This however isn’t enough to save Spencer from its shortcomings and in the end the game just doesn’t do enough to get a recommendation from me.… Full Review »
