In spite of these flaws, Spaceland is still one of the most surprisingly in-depth and engaging indie turn-based strategy games that big fans of the genre are likely to find. It wears its old school influences on its sleeve while still managing to add its own spin to the genre.

Your team lands on an Alien planet, with hostile inhabitants. You get to explore and test your strategy against a host of enemies, and utilizing futuristic weaponry. You play through many scripted Turn-Based grid battles as you explore the lands. Each unit has their own stats and abilities to utilize across the many battles. Each battle is designed to be relatively short, lasting 10 - 15 minutes each. What this game lacks in original concepts, it makes up for in play quality considerably. Each character, of which you can find a few new soldiers along the way, has their own move count, range, and weapon, and some can even attack more than once a round, so each move should be thought out and planned ahead. As you progress you'll gain currency you can spend on upgrades for your weapons, armor, and other gear. Again even this needs a bit of planning as not everyone can use the same equipment. That in mind, spend wisely so you can blast all those aliens square in whatever they consider the equivalent of a face and then walk away alive. A quality Tactics game that you don't have to spend hours on a battle? This was a welcome addition to the games collection. Strategy buffs, this game was made for you, so strap on your thinking caps and snag this title! Full Review »
