I was however a little worried about the game on Xbox One because the release date had been postponed a few times, and now I understand why. Don’t get me wrong the game can be pretty enjoyable at times but unfortunately there are too many problems and in the end the game suffers because of this. One of the biggest problems that’s clear from the start is the text in the game. The text can be really difficult to see and this is a problem that persists throughout and unfortunately there’s no way to change this aspect. Another problem that’s evident from the get go are the controls that have been implemented. I can imagine on the PC that the controls are easy to grasp but on the Xbox One they’re very complicated and even after putting in quite a few hours I’m still not fully used to them. This is a shame because the strategy elements in the game have been done extremely well and they would’ve been even better if the controls and difficulty curve didn’t cause as many problems as they did. Speaking about difficulty the game can be very frustrating at times because to say this game is very difficult would be a massive understatement and without a doubt an easier difficulty setting would’ve been a nice inclusion. Thankfully though the missions are worth failing multiple times and that’s mainly because each mission has a great deal of variety and of course once completed you get a great sense of achievement. The content on the whole also has a great deal of variety and there is more than enough to keep you satisfied, but unfortunately the content doesn’t come without its problems. You will notice throughout your time with the game that there is a few technical issues to deal with and these issues do affect your enjoyability levels somewhat, which is a shame. These technichal issues are also present in the presentation side of the game and I must admit that I was a little disappointed with this aspect of the game. There’s just nothing that stands out in the visuals and sound design department and everything just feels repetetive and basic here. At the end of the day some game’s don’t make the transition from PC to console smoothly and this is definitely the case with Space Hulk: Ascension. This is a shame because the core mechanics are great and if it didn’t suffer with the problems it suffers with then without a doubt this game would be getting a much higher score from me, but unfortunately as it stands Space Hulk: Ascension just doesn’t do enough to get a recommendation from me.… Expand
