SolSeraph is a unique blend of Real Time Tower Defense, and Side Scrolling. You play as Helios, as you help guide the path of humanity out from under the Young Gods tyranny. You play as Helios, as you help guide the path of humanity out from under the Young Gods tyranny. The base of the game is a fairly straight forward Real time Tower Defense. People, food, resources, and keep your defense building. Wood is Finite on each level, and not always close, so be very mindful of your stock. Helios has a few unique powers your going to want to remember to use any level of the Tower Defense games. You'll push out, and clear the dark fog away from the town to reveal the evil lair. Now this is something the Humans themselves can't take on, so Helios descends on the lair and you go into platforming mode. You now control Helios in an awe-striking side-scroller. Use Sword and Bow to defeat enemies the not only come from in front or behind, but from your sides too! It was shocking the first time an enemy came at me from the background, but then one came from the foreground blocking some of my view! The scenery had depth both in function and presentation, making it a great experience, that provided formidable game play as well. If an area is too tough, go to another one, you can always come back for the harder parts later when you've found new abilities. The only complaint is the Story sometimes felt intrusive on your game play, otherwise, this is a fun and unique experience designed for fans of either genre. Expand

A belated hit-and- myth successor to a SNES cult classic that doesn’t quite hit its mark. [Issue#181, p.79]

The lack of ambition or budget is noticeable. The game does what it does and nothing more.

SolSeraph mixes several genres like side-scrolling action, strategy and tower defense, but does it in an unconvincing way with every single aspect being weaker than other games in the same genres. A poor technical production with uncomfortable strategic controls and a noticeable input lag in the platforming section aren't helping, too.
