Skelattack is a 2d Action Platformer. You play as Skully, with his bat friend Imber, happy denizens of Aftervale. Skully is about to undergo his Remembrance, a special ritual everyone undergoes to remember who they were. Skully is about to undergo his Remembrance, a special ritual everyone undergoes to remember who they were. Before this can take place, the humans, who are after Immortality, attack Aftervale and capture the elder. Now you must go on a quest to save the elder and stop the oncoming invasion of the living. Skully and Imber have fun running dialogue throughout the game. The game itself is relatively short, leaving you unable to fully enjoy some of your final abilities. The art and animations are smooth, and cartooney, with a fun and almost cheery aesthetic. That being said, the gameplay isn't so cheery, as jumping feels heavy, and wall-jumping isn't easy, as the controls to do so, just don't feel right. You have to press the joystick left or right away from the wall to perform your wall jump, and this can prove extremely tricky when trying to time a jump off a wall-slide while dodging spikes. The game is loaded with checkpoints, which kind of dissolves the danger of dying, other than the fact that you lose a portion of your gems every time you die. They only stay there until your next death, so if you die again, they disappear. Skelattack is a fun and challenging platformer that may leave some players quite frustrated, but those who enjoy a good challenge will find this title may flesh out their library. Expand

Skelattack nails its retro flavor with a very pleasing art style, but it fails in providing a compelling and satisfying platforming experience due to imprecise controls, a basic level design and too little content.

An acceptable game with a very good aesthetic and level design, but its metroidvania is not the best.

Skelattack boasts one of the most unique premises and stories that I've had the pleasure of experiencing in a long time. If it featured tighter controls and better balancing when it came to its platforming challenges then it would be a must-play Metroidvania.
