If you can get past that and seek a new type of challenge, then you can’t go far wrong with Shred! 2. It has indie title written all over it, so if you can appreciate it at that arcade level and price point, it’s definitely worth a look for those that want to push themselves. It’ll push you and you’ll get mad at times (please, do. I can’t be the only one that gets annoyed), but if you can persevere until you unlock new rides to help, it opens up the challenge with progression and practice.

Shred! 2 - ft Sam Pilgrim on Xbox One isn’t a game that should worry about visuals or audio - it’s a game that absolutely thrives on momentum and insane combos, seeing the player pull off tricks without a care in the world. And in that respect, it utterly nails things, delivering a playthrough that is engaging, free-flowing, and precise.

Shred! 2 is a tough game with unresponsive controls, meaning it's often tough to balance landing a jump successfully and hitting a trick required to get you those all elusive stars.

Even for a small price ($11.99), I don't feel Shred! 2 is worth buying on a console. It's just missing too many elements that a gamer who takes time out to sit in front of their console to play would notice. We want an experience that takes advantage of the console's power. It doesn't have to be a completely re-imagined port, but maybe it should be more than a direct copy from mobile to console? It's a game with design choices that you wouldn't notice when playing on the go on a mobile device. But on a console, I just expected more from it. It's a mobile game, not a console game.

Shred! 2 provides fun and challenge (sometimes to the point of rage and frustration) The thrill of pulling off insane tricks and physicsShred! 2 provides fun and challenge (sometimes to the point of rage and frustration) The thrill of pulling off insane tricks and physics impossible combinations immerses you in a surreal extreme sports world. The rag-doll physics from death and crashes always makes for good entertainment and there’s a wide variety in the courses and types of challenges to play. If you want to race, air it out big, or show off your riding skills there is a touch of something for every enthusiast present; even those who aren’t a biking enthusiast should find a nice blast of fun. The size of the studio and the content that they pushed out in this title are stunning to be honest, I’ve seen far less successful attempts at the genre from larger developers or studios and at higher costs of admission. That doesn’t mean Shred 2 is perfect in every way as it does suffer from control issues at times, but it’s quite a polished game given its minimalistic roots. Shred! 2 is a bit lacking in graphics but this isn't about graphics it all about fun - just don’t put your mind in the area of the Trials series from a presentation standpoint. Shred! 2 has applied laws above the laws of physics. The control is tolerable most of the time as in street style levels there are the occasional hit box detection properties that are off. Sometimes camera angles will come out of nowhere which can be just as aggravating as the snow levels *cough-cough*. On the subject of gameplay… the transfers, wall hops, and rotating while flip during tricks are some of the most over the top they could have envisioned for this extreme feeling you’d expect in the genre. If you can dream it, then it’s probably possible in Shred! 2 and is overall is a blast to play. The adrenaline gets pumping and it’s hard to put the controller down once you start even thru the frustration moments you will still want to succeed, which is one of Shred! 2’s strongest points in my opinion. It’s fast and easy to restart a level and that it’s a welcome addition to a game of this nature to horde off some of the frustration along the way and challenge it also brings when it’s truly your skills letting you down. Once again I want to draw attention to the quality of what is there from a small studio and at a great price of admission. Go pick this one up and you won’t regret it even during the mild rage episodes you may encounter at odd times here and there. It’s a solid addition the the Xbox indie library most should enjoy, and a must buy for fans of the genre for sure. Expand
