Unfortunately though these types of game’s don’t hold your attention for very long but when they do you end up having a very immersive experience. Shape of the World may not be the best game in the world and it may have a few shortcomings, but it got more things right than it got wrong and in the end the uniqueness and charm made the game very enjoyable. The uniqueness the game has comes from its mechanics. These mechanics combine together extremely well and doing the nature-based aspects really do make you have a worthwhile experience for the most part. Unfortunately though there just isn’t enough to do in the game so that means that things can start to get a little repetetive and tedious, but thankfully the puzzles that are present in the game do ease that a little bit. The puzzles certainly have a creative edge to them and whilst none of them are really challenging in any way they do a very good job of keeping the gameplay fresh and in a way interesting. Without a doubt the best way to enjoy this game is by exploring. Exploring really allows you to see the true beauty of the fantastic world in which the game’s set and the best thing is that the game doesn’t hold you back so you’re free to explore what you want and where you want at all times. I would however have liked to have seen a story included when exploring because even though exploring can be fun and interesting a story would’ve given the game a true meaning and in my opinion a decent narrative makes any game accessible to a more gamers. Another thing that the game doesn’t really have is content. In terms of content there isn’t a huge amount for you to get to grips with and the worst thing is that once the game is completed you’re highly unlikely to return back to it, which is a shame because the content that is here is pretty good and more replaybility would’ve been something that I would’ve loved. Without a doubt my favourite thing about this game was its presentation. Visually the game can look stunning at times and there’s nothing better than seeing the world come alive in all areas. The music and sound design also play a big part in this game and when these aspects combine with the visuals the immersiveness can be off the charts at times. At the end of the day Shape of the World is a game that won’t be for everybody, but if like me you like game’s that give you a nice relaxing and sometimes mysterious adventure then you will really like what this game has to offer because in the end it can be really different from the other game’s out there. Sometimes it is difficult to understand the purpose of Shape of the World. The developers wanted to insert a metaphor that can be difficult to understand, making the game long and boring. Its marginal interactivity and its simple puzzles, leave it as a walking simulator. On the visual side, it is very stylish at the beginning but when you take your first steps it loses that magic.

Shape of the World won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re into exploration/walking sims then this is a must purchase.
