I absolutely adore the Shantae series and to say that I’ve enjoyed every Shantae game would be a massive understatement, so as you can imagineI absolutely adore the Shantae series and to say that I’ve enjoyed every Shantae game would be a massive understatement, so as you can imagine I was extremely looking forward to the Ultimate Edition of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Thankfully it delivers in all areas again and without a doubt if you’re a fan of Shantae it’s definitely worth buying again. This game isn’t just a repeat of the game before in fact they’ve added quite a few new modes and you can tell that a lot of thought and effort has gone into this edition of the game. These new modes have been done extremely well and in the end they breath even more life into the game which in turn gives the game even more content to get to grips with. Speaking about content there’s more than enough to keep you satisfied here and the best thing is that the content is brilliant from start to finish and accompanied once again by the fantastic story. You would expect to be a little bored from a story you’ve already seen and played before, but that’s not the case. The story was a pleasure to experience again and it didn’t fail to hold my attention at all throughout my time with the game. The same can also be said about the gameplay which was also a pleasure to experience again. I forgot how enjoyable fighting the enemies was and it was nice to be reminded of that. One of the main reasons why fighting the enemies is so good is because of how creative they are and when you combine this creativeness with plenty of variety then you end up having a hugely fun time and because of that boredom never seems to surface. Obviously the most important aspect of a game of this ilk is its platforming elements and once again everything feels perfect here. The controls hold up really well throughout and traversing around the fantastic environments remains as thrilling as ever. In terms of gripes I don’t really have any and in fact the only problem I had is that you have to backtrack a lot, but this is only a minor annoyance. Something that I’ve always loved about the Shantae games is the presentation side of things, and thankfully once again everything is awesome in this field. Visually the game looks superb and when you combine them with the fantastic sound design you end up falling in love with the game almost immediately. At the end of the day I have to applaud the developers here because the amount of effort that has gone into this edition of the game makes the game worth playing again. If you like platformers then this game is an absolutely must buy because for me it’s one of the best platformers of all time and that’s no small feat, so of course in the end the game gets a massive recommendation from me.… Expand
