   In Scarlet Nexus l’umanità ha raggiunto il livello successivo, riuscendo a controllare e manipolare (attraverso un ormone celebraleIn Scarlet Nexus l’umanità ha raggiunto il livello successivo, riuscendo a controllare e manipolare (attraverso un ormone celebrale sconosciuto) poteri psionici: gli abitanti della gigantesca metropoli in cui si svolge l’avventura, New Himuka, possono collegare pensieri, informazioni ed eventi attraverso un’immensa rete neurale. Antagonisti per eccellenza a questo nuovo equilibrio sono gli Estranei, creature aliene che cercano di divorare cervelli umani per azzerare il vantaggio che quest’ultimi sono riusciti ad ottenere. Il loro scopo è, dunque, sterminare il genere umano e con esso la possibilità di utilizzare il potere comunicativo di cui sopra.
   
   Per tale motivazione, il governo di New Himuka istituisce la FSE (Forza di Soppressione Estranei), una squadra di soldati perfettamente addestrati e dotati di poteri psionici che vanno oltre la mera comunicazione neurale. La FSE è l’unica forza in grado di contrapporsi al potere disarmante degli Estranei, ed è proprio su questo sfondo che si staglia la storia dei due protagonisti.
   
   Parliamo di Kasane Randall e Yuito Sumeragi. Di indole fortemente volitiva, i due hanno diverse motivazioni per unirsi ai ranghi della FSE. Kasane è l’ultima erede di un clan di guerrieri dai poteri incredibili, mentre Yuito è di famiglia nobile. Il giocatore può scegliere se giocare nei panni di uno o dell’altra, ed è qui che la vera forza di Scarlet Nexus esce fuori. La scelta del personaggio è importante, ed entrambi apporteranno un’esperienza unica ed irripetibile: sebbene ad un certo punto le vicende si intrecceranno, giocarle prima nei panni di Kasane e poi in quelli di Yuito arricchirà notevolmente l’esperienza di gioco.
   
   Non parliamo solo di cutscene inedite o dialoghi alternativi, ma di vere e proprie sezioni di gioco in momenti separati che, giocate assieme, apporteranno un vero sentore di completezza per chi intraprende l’avventura di Scarlet Nexus.
   
   Si tratta di un ottimo lavoro da parte del team di sviluppo che oltra restituire un senso di autenticità a ciascun personaggio carica anche di importanza il loro vissuto, oltre ad aumentare di molto la longevità di una campagna che può essere completata in meno di 30 ore.
   
   All’avventura si aggiungeranno anche altri personaggi che non solo contribuiranno a creare un’atmosfera di gioco ancor più lieta, ma che contribuiranno concretamente all’avanzare della missione principale poiché tramite un sistema di cui parleremo a breve potranno restituire ai due protagonisti poteri speciali ed estremamente interessanti.
   Il gameplay nasconde un livello sommerso costruito ad hoc sui legami con i personaggi che incontreremo durante la nostra avventura. Come anticipato prima, la sinergia con i propri compagni di squadra arricchirà costantemente il gameplay ed in generale le meccaniche del combattimento.
   
   Sulla scia di Persona 5, infatti, sarà possibile coltivare i legami con i propri compagni di squadra, solitamente scambiando messaggi con loro o giocando scene per lo più narrative (evento legame). Il party è gestito attraverso il SAS e questo permetterà ai protagonisti di prendere in prestito abilità peculiari di ciascun membro, andando difatti ad incentivare un gameplay imprevedibile e mai banale.
   
   La crescita dei protagonisti si basa su un classico skill tree, un albero delle abilità qui conosciuto come Mappa Neurale dove potremmo gestire al meglio i nuovi poteri, classificandoli in base all’utilizzo ed in base agli avversari che ci troveremo di fronte.
   
   Sia Yuito che Kasane possiedono l’abilità di psicocinesi, ma le applicazioni che ne fanno in combattimento sono piuttosto diverse (come lo stile di combattimento, uno basato sulla distanza e l’altro decisamente ravvicinato). Per lo più il giocatore potrà far lievitare oggetti e scagliarli contro gli avversari indebolendoli e dando loro il colpo di grazia, soprattutto utilizzando la barra PSI che renderà più letali certi attacchi. Questa potrà essere ricaricata attaccando gli Estranei con attacchi semplici.
   
   In sintesi: Scarlet Nexus è un titolo consigliatissimo per gli amanti degli JRPG action, caratterizzato da uno stile fortemente ispirato ed un gameplay frenetico e divertente. Presenta qualche difetto sul versante tecnico, ma restituisce complessivamente sensazioni più che positive: Scarlet Nexus alza l’asticella del genere, restituendo al giocatore un’esperienza unica ed irripetibile.… Expand

   Scarlet Nexus is a 16 hour long action JRPG where you play as either Kasane or Yuito, I had to look up their nae before I wrote this review, because that’s how little I cared about this games story.
   The story seems to be very hit and miss, which isn’t necessarily a good thing considered half of the game is voiced dialog comic styled cutscenes… Im not exaggerating, you spend just as much time sitting, waiting for the action to happen as you do actually playing.. some seem to love the story, I however was bored out of my mind, basically youre part of a group of people with special powers, the government is after your brains, youre losing or have lost your memories, something about spaghetti noodles coming from the sky, youre on the governments hitlist and you gotta stop these moon people from destroying earth.. I think.. I think that’s the story… if youre not intogovernemnt conspiracy, half this game.. this is now an 8 hour action jrpg that thankfully is a blast to play though.. you have telekenisis and a sword, you cn slic enemies up as well as throw objects and use the environment to do massive damage, as you progress the game youll unlock new abilities.. which seems to never stop, tutorials will pop up literally the entirety of the games campaign, but as you make it through th story, more charcters will join your party and youre able to borrow their powers as you take on these moon cratures known as others, you can use fire powers, invisiblity, dashing, electric, super speed, dashing, and work up your skill tree to the point that you can stack these abilities, all on cool down.. this is when the game is at its best, taking down enemies and bosses… is the gameplay good enough to justify a purchase on its own though? No.
   Scarelt nexus is insaley repeitve, youre just goin around these very Japanese game styled maps, getting locked ito areas, clearing them and moving on.. youll see a lot of repeat areas, not even counting the optional bonding missions you can do with each of this games characters, so youll rarely come to a cool new area being begged to explore and even if you did there is no exploration incetive, the gear and weapons here are awful, you wont find new wepons, you just by them from a shop that thankfully just shows up in these dungeons, you don’t have to fast travel to a hub or wait until a mission is over to buy consumables, but these 5 weapons for each charcter you buy just will show up the deeper you get into the game, and you buy them and equip them, that sabout as deep as the loot system goes..
   If th sound of a government conspiracy trying to steel the brains of these kidswith crazy powers doesn’t excite you, there is no reason to pick this one up..
   While I found the story to be painfully slow, drawn out, and boring, others are liking it, and for those people, scarlet nexus offers a good package, and a 16 plus hours youll really enjoy, you might even enjoy it enough to play it twice for both sides of the story,
   for me, I could barely manage the story the first time around
   I give Scarlet Nexus

   On both my Xbox One S and Series S the LT button does not work properly. This has renered the game unplayable for me.
