    Samsara is a pleasant puzzle game that doesn't quite challenge enough to give you the unique satisfaction of the “ah-ha” moment when you solve something particularly difficult.

    Don’t expect to be blown away, but should you fancy spending some time with a reflective puzzler, then Samsara will get you thinking.

    Samsara is a visually attractive puzzler that plays out on two planes. Trying to simultaneously navigate Zee and her shadow self to their respective doorways by manipulating the walkways with placed blocks is a tricky thing to do. With limited blocks, and endless lives, trialling different solutions and seeing what works and what doesn't is a fun and rewarding experience. There are always surprises hidden; whether it's weird deaths or getting Zee trapped between a rock and a hard place. Figuring out these puzzles is a fun little diversion, and Samsara is well worth the time to solve some puzzles.

    Samsara is just another standard puzzle game that never really evolves throughout the entirety of play. Despite a few interesting mechanics, the lack of innovation is what lets this experience down in the long run. Fans of the genre will most certainly enjoy what’s on offer, and it truly is a visually pleasing journey, but that means very little when there’s just not much of a challenge within.

    A lot of puzzle games that have made their way to consoles in recent years, and while they do lack action in terms of the gameplay I mustA lot of puzzle games that have made their way to consoles in recent years, and while they do lack action in terms of the gameplay I must admit that I do enjoy a good puzzle game. In order to make a successful puzzle game you obviously have to have decent puzzles and thankfully Samsara brings you some fantastic puzzles. There are over 70 puzzles for you to get to grips with in this game and some of them are really cleverly designed and have lots of variety. You really have to think about some of the puzzles and I liked that the game didn’t hold my hand when attempting to complete them because when you complete a difficult puzzle you get a great sense of satisfaction and reward. I will say though that some people may be put off by the difficulty of the puzzles and I would be lying if I said I didn’t get frustrated from time to time, but I definitely enjoyed it more than I got frustrated. The controls in the game hold up really well and they remain responsive throughout, so I never got frustrated at these which is great. Something that really impressed me about Samsara was the unique feeling of the mechanics that are in play during the game. Each mechanic feels original and this means things rarely get tedious and that means you want to continue time and time again. In terms of content there isn’t a great deal, which is a shame. Without a doubt I would have liked to have been able to have more content to play and that’s a testament to how good the game is because I enjoyed it so much. The presentation side of the game is simplistic in design and for me that works for the game really well. Visually the game is packed full of mesmerising colours and the accompanying sound design is simple yet effective and in my opinion it definitely gives the game a unique feel. At the end of the day as far as puzzle games go Samsara is a wonderful addition to the genre. This game is rare in the fact that it never seems to get repetetive and I must admit that I’ve hardly experienced that in a puzzle game before. Samsara won’t be for everyone and if you like action-packed games then this is something you won’t enjoy, but fans of any sort of puzzle games will absolutely adore this and me being a fan of this type of genre can’t recommend Samsara enough.… Expand
