Sagebrush is a remarkable piece of storytelling and game design, employing a retro technique to tell something truly original. It’s intriguing and beguiling throughout and that leaves you with a satisfied smile at the end.

Sagebrush offers a short, yet captivating and somewhat glib story that (I imagine) accurately portrays the mindset of people who find themselves within a religious cult. Easily, and best, played in a single sitting, it’ll keep your attention throughout. Some outdated UI and gameplay mechanics bring the package down, but the story will help you get through these hurdles.

    Never join a COLT!

First let me say, I don't normally play first person games due to motion sickness. Yes, Sagebrush is a first person game but in a slow paced environment which was great for me as I didn't get that much motion sickness at all. You start of exploring the ranch which has multiply areas to investigate, your goal to find out happened to all the people aka church flock that were there. Omg your way you will encounter tap recordings that will give you clues, keys to unlock doors etc and other items to deal with.

This visuals of this game really match what the game is trying to produce, for me, it goes really well.

I spent just over 3 hours on this game and was involved from the start to the finish, great story that will have you never wanting to join a colt of any sorts......ever!!!

You won't be disappointed with this one!

In SageBrush your trying to find out more information about the the mass suicide of the Perfect Heaven cult. A cult led by Father James at the Black Sage ranch. You make your way around a An Immersive, Lo-Fi 3D World, the entire compound is a creepy atmosphere as night sets in, and you start to piece together the happenings there. There is no real threat though it's mostly just discovery. Still that doesn't mean there isn't unsettling moments as you discover horrific events. There is also a saddening and kind of feeling of disgust as you learn more and more.
The game looks pretty good, but some times especially at night kind of hard to make things out. The music offers a extra feeling of creepiness. It really helps to set the mood. The voice acting is pretty stellar. I was surprised to hear such good voice acting from a Ratalaika game. That isn't a shot at them, I'm just not used to this type of game from them. Most are little retro type games so when I started playing this I was really surprised. I hope t see more titles from them like this, but I really ,really love the retro games. Some of them really take you back to the days of Atari, NES, SNES, and Genesis.
The achievements are pretty simple, you figured this I'm sure being that it's Ratalaika. Most of the Achievements you can't miss. I would say there is maybe two or three you might not find in a standard playthrough. If you are just looking for the Achievements'Trophies using a walkthrough you can get a complete game in about 30 minutes. I recommend though just playing it out right, it's a pretty fun and interesting experience.

Overall: 7.0 SageBrush is a different experience from Ratalaika, even though the Achievements are still easy, and the game is still affordable it's just a totally different feel then their regular titles. It offers a a really good eerie story with great narration and voice acting.

Sagebrush plays like a 3D point and click, as you search the Black Sage Ranch to unravel what happened to the people there. Find clues and delve into the story of the "Flock" as you uncover the twisted happenings that took place a few years before. Find the tapes that narrate one member of the Flocks dark past. Find out what the 'True Prophet' James did to the people that followed him. Designed like the 3D adventures of the late 90's early 2000's explore the vast farm finding keys to open the way. The graphics are true to the feel, and actually enhance the experience and deepen the atmosphere. Although the game is relatively short, the story is extensively deep and immersive, showing you the life inside of a religious cult. The sounds and sights combine beautifully to create an immersive feel. I found myself unnerved and looking around for a threat several times, the random odd creak here, whistling wind there, keeps the chills running down your spine. I think this gripping narrative should be expeienced by most, telling a tale that will not be easily forgotten. Sagebrush isn't for the younger crowd as it covers some fairly controversial topics. This is another incredible Indie release form Ratalaika games, and a steal for it's price! Expand
