Mar 12, 2016Just completed my first playthrough of Ryse in 2016 and I loved it. By no means are the gameplay mechanics masterful, because they are repetitive and QTE focused. The same can be said for the linear levels. Despite its flaws, this is a great game that captures the spirit of Rome and has a great story and great acting.

Jan 4, 2017Fantastic xbone exclusive. Best graphics of current gen. (Playing this in 2017). Awesome, fun batman arkham ripped off combat. Great story for history lovers. Short 6 to 7 hour campaign. Really enjoyable gameplay. Microsoft and crytek delivered a bobby dazzler of a game. Highly recommended.

Feb 2, 2014This game is a great start for the next gen Xbox games. This game has the best looking graphics so far from any next gen game including PS4 titles. The sound is good and the VO is pretty darn good. The story does drag a little but really picks up at the end. The fighting is a little repetitive but it did not bother me that much at all.
But be warned this is about a 6 hour game. So rent don't buy. -

Mar 22, 2014This game is a bit repetitive but it is a very good game great story, good multi player. Crytek is known for having very good visual games, an example would be Crysis 2. After playing this game I am now truly looking forward Homefront 2 and see what they will bring.

Feb 8, 2014Ryse son of Rome is A fun fighter, if your looking for something easy. The graphics are good, but have a grainy look to them, i think there hiding clarity with it.

Nov 24, 2013Ryse: Son Of Rome may have its repetitive sword fights, but Crytek delivers us a brief look at some history in a beautiful world, a truly stunning game at the launch of next generation of Xbox.

Nov 23, 2013I had a great time playing this game. It looks absolutely beautiful, I enjoyed it's story and while I can see how the combat might get somewhat repetitive for me the whole time I was playing it was still fun and didn't get old even as I got to the end of the game.

Nov 24, 2013Just finished the campaign. I thought it was great! Amazing graphics, excellent voice work, and I actually liked the gameplay too. Yes, it repeats itself, but amp up the difficulty, work on chaining combos, and perfect your double executions--there is plenty of strategy and variety. Highly recommend.

Nov 25, 2013It's very similar to old school games like Final Fight or Streets of Rage. You travel around having group fights with enemies that use set patterns of attack. Every now and then you meet a boss character who requires special tactics like Mike Tyson's Super Punch Out. The combat is responsive and rewards skill and timing. Plus it's well acted and looks gorgeous.

Nov 30, 2013It's a good game but like others have said its repetitive. The mechanics of the game and the graphics are quality but you just get bored too quickly. I still say it's worth getting at this early stage of the xbox ones cycle. the critic's score would suggest its a really bad game which it isn't, it just doesn't get anywhere near its potential.

Sep 8, 2014Ryse is a bit of a marmite game, if you are looking for a great gaming experience that takes forever to perfect then Ryse is not for you. If you are interested in a Roman interactive movie with a solid story line then I’d say give it a shot.

Sep 7, 2014Beautiful but stale, boring, shallow and lacking in variation.

Sep 4, 2014Ryse: Son of Rome is a really good looking game, but at the same time incredible stupid. Thanks to the graphics and the amount of brutal combat the adventure managed to entertain, at least for a bit. If you find Ryse on sale it can be worth a closer look, but for a full price game it’s a disappointment.
