    People have been extremely unfair with this game. Maybe it is not the best game ever, but it is good enough & the graphics & the atmosphere are outstanding

    Ryse: Son of Rome was a bit of a surprise to me. I bought it on a sale that Xbox Live had a little while ago. I had read the reviews and saw some mixed feelings about it, but decided to go for it. That turned out to be a good call because this game is a ton of fun. While the controls took a little bit to get used to, once I felt comfortable, I was all in. The visuals in this game areRyse: Son of Rome was a bit of a surprise to me. I bought it on a sale that Xbox Live had a little while ago. I had read the reviews and saw some mixed feelings about it, but decided to go for it. That turned out to be a good call because this game is a ton of fun. While the controls took a little bit to get used to, once I felt comfortable, I was all in. The visuals in this game are amazing. Being an older game in Xbox 1 terms, it still looks good today, even outclassing some recent AAA releases. The story is your classic vengeful soldier story, but it works for this game. The voice acting is really good and it is easy to get engrossed in the story. The combat and finishers are fun once you get the timing of it all down. While this game is short (6-8 hours), it definitely keeps you engrossed with its amazing visuals, good story and voice acting, and its cinematic cut scenes. All in all, a really good way to kill a day and for me, it has really good replay value.… Expand

    I can reasonably understand the low critic and user ratings, as the game was indeed linear and repetitive, but I'm giving Ryse an 8/10 for a few reasons. For one, I LOVE button-crunchy games like Ryse, with awesome combat and an even cooler execution system, so if you like these kinds of games, Ryse is a must-play. Also, Ryse showed off superb graphics, some of the best graphics I'd everI can reasonably understand the low critic and user ratings, as the game was indeed linear and repetitive, but I'm giving Ryse an 8/10 for a few reasons. For one, I LOVE button-crunchy games like Ryse, with awesome combat and an even cooler execution system, so if you like these kinds of games, Ryse is a must-play. Also, Ryse showed off superb graphics, some of the best graphics I'd ever seen, proving that the Xbox One is very capable of running graphics intensive games, especially at a smooth frame-rate. And finally, I enjoyed Ryse because of the fact that it was almost entirely focused on single player as it delivered a superb story, and a fun linear campaign. Ever since the success of games like Minecraft, Skyrim, and the recent Grand Theft Auto games, open-world games have almost become the norm, as the gaming industry is being flooded with them, and not all of them are good. Ryse is a nice break from all that, and it shows games don't NEED to be open-world to be good.… Expand

    I don't get all these bad reviews, Ryse is The Best next gen game so far, more fun than God of War: Ascension and more movie like then Beyond Two Souls.

    I don't get the bad reviews. I was hesitant about getting the game but got it on sale for $20 and it was well worth it! If you like hack and slash the combat does not get repetitive as reviews say. The visuals are great, the audio is great, the voice acting is pretty good. Good variety of maps, weapons, execution/character upgrades, story, and characters.

    Multi-player leveling up is fun    I don't get the bad reviews. I was hesitant about getting the game but got it on sale for $20 and it was well worth it!     This game may be more like a 8, as it's not perfect, but it's still incredibly fun and interesting to play.
    Rate it as 5.9 is really crazy as it actually feels one of the best games in the genre.
    Ok, the fighting system has not so many buttons to press but still there's a couple of things you need/enjoy to always keep practicing with executions. The story is also interesting btw.     I give the 10, as there are too many low ratings, which doesnt make sense to me. And I was reluctant to buy this game because of the low ratings, and the truth is it is fun, so just buy it, particularly now that you can find the reduced price version.    … Expand

    This is just a Xbox one launch game and its taken the ps4 until 2015 to match its graphic fidelity.. that's an amazing feat in itself.. this game while short was and still is very enjoyable. I played on legendary and it game me a enjoyable and difficult experience.. Its amazing the quality of exclusives the Xbox one has in comparison to the competing console.     Amazing Launch Title that is an absolute Visual Orgasm for any Console. The story is amazing and the controls are spot on. The only problem is how repetitive the combat can get but that is par for the game type and should not be a knock on the game itself because it pulls combat off flawlessly.

    The Season Pass was well worth it playing online was a nice pace of change and helped me get better at playing the game and the timing nuances to get Perfect Combos.

    I wish the Campaign had been Co-Op and more Animations and Executions would have given this game a more balanced feel.

    The saddest thing was the fact that even with the games shortcomings I loved it and was waiting for the sequel that now unfortunately will never happen due to Crytek and all the companies inner turmoils.    … Expand

    I think entertaining is the right word for this game. A bit simple in game-play but great graphics, a nice scenery and the brutal executions make it so entertaining.
    My only down-point is that the single-player campaign is a bit short. I played it on hard and could finish it in 1 day if i wanted to.

    Bit late in the life span of this game for this but I only just got an xbone so why not.
    Ryse is nothing ground breaking, the graphics are pretty and the voice acting is top notch and the gameplay is rather repetitive as time goes on and the story is actually quite strong, playing on the Roman mythology which is something that you don't see a lot in games.
    But the reason for my high    Bit late in the life span of this game for this but I only just got an xbone so why not.

    But the reason for my high score is because it is just so damn fun, like Shadow of Mordor, you can just watch all day as you slice up your foes wave after wave (I'm not a psychopath I swear) the executions may be glorified quick time events but I don't care, it looks cool and it feels cool, I would rather have symbolic involvement in a killing blow than none at all, plus that bit at the end made me giddy as hell.
    All in all a fun game that is addictive but don't expect GOTY material.

    This is a brutal and addictive game which is a positive for me. Great graphics and a very interesting game play .This game is all about combat and blood with a roman named Marius. The finishers are are almost perfect and the combat is fun. The only flaw is the length which is not sort but not to long either. It left me wanting more because the story was remarkable!

    It is a good hack and slash with very good graphics and a decent plot borrowing elements from movies like the gladiator, the Spartacus series and also, it has some minor mythological component. Negative points: it doesn't have a great variety of enemies, you fight humans 99% of the time, and they don't have too many skins either (-1.0).     I beat this on the first difficulty.And I got a achievement then I started a new campaign on the next difficulty when I was snap and playing I beat it and never got that second achievement.

    The history is very good, the plot twists are awesome and the gameplay is fantastic (ok, the hand-hand combats are a little bit repetitive, but still very good)

    Superb story and character development. Really good fight scenes, i spaced it out over 7 days because i knew the campaign was short. Happy that i didn't spend 60 dollars on it new and waited to get. Highly recommend.

When I start to play I understand - it is not the clon, but some musi-pusi cry baby game. Well, it was all wrong. Game almost perfect.     In the first place is a very good game, but what strikes me from this game is so good graphics which have, looks really great, is as if suddenly you sintieses you part of the story, and there are going to another party that most caught my attention from this game, history you really have a very good story, but to avoid spoilers I will not say swimming, just: play it yourself

This is to date, THE most ACCURATE and VISCERAL game putting a gameplayer into feeling EXACTLY what it was like to be a soldier or centurion in the Roman Empire late in the Empire. I'm MOST impressed with the graphics, and also some of the historical accuracy. Not so much with    FANTASTIC.

    Full disclosure : I'm a Roman History Scholar, so maybe my result is a bit biased, but.

    This is to date, THE most ACCURATE and VISCERAL game putting a gameplayer into feeling EXACTLY what it was like to be a soldier or centurion in the Roman Empire late in the Empire.

    I'm MOST impressed with the graphics, and also some of the historical accuracy. Not so much with relation to Commodus (yeah, he was a nucking futcase, but so were so many other emperors, but for some reason he gets the "bad guy" label every time), but with relation to Bodicea (Boodica), and her role in the uprising in Brittania, which proved to be such a thorn in the Roman sides late in their empire.

    Also the portrayal of the "Goths" (in the "North land") was suitably terrifying, and really went a long way to putting you in the mindset of an average Roman Soldier at the time - you knew you were fighting with the world's most technologically advanced and tactically superior armies in the world, and yet, in this place in the North, you encountered warriors who were so fierce and terrifying that it basically undermined all your training and everything you knew about fighting.

    Ok, so the Combat mechanics (a lot of people have already said this) was a bit simple, and a bit boring...

    BUT.. I don't mind.. Because the STORY, the ACTING, is of such a high caliber that it really doesn't matter. YES, this does become a "Slash and Dash" game as a result.

    So is it as engaging as another game like "Mirror's Edge", or "Mass Effect"?

    No, it's not. But let's be honest, even THOSE games, the only reason they're "More complex" is because there's more controller buttons involved before an action happens.

    Is this game "Slash and Dash"? Definitely.

    Does it matter?

    Not in the SLIGHTEST.

    It's an INCREDIBLY detailed and accurate portrayal of the late Roman empire, with EXCEPTIONAL performances and scriptwriting, with a bit of slashing and dashing here and there..

    Graphics are fantastic. The gameplay is as repetitive as most third person games. Nothing special or terrible about the hack and slash aspect of the gameplay. The game may not have been worth $60 when it was a launch title but now it is totally worth it to pay $30 for all the game and all DLC it is a great value.

This game is visually spectacular and a great introduction to next gen games, the story is the highlight of the game and the multiplayer is off the chain when playing with your friends. My ONLY flaw I have towards this is the combat system is very iffy and is indeed veryI'm first and foremost give this game a 9 but I'm definitely giving this a 10 to counter the mixed/negative reviews. Me diverto pensando nas diversas possibilidades de um continuação de quantas lendas e histórias poderiam ser aproveitadas, que foram criadas nesse jogo.
    Fiquei diversas vezes emocionado durante o jogo, com diversos momentos épicos e tensos, senti falta as vezes de algum vilão na história, ponto que foi saciado mais pro final do jogo.
    Com certeza é uma jogo que vale a pena ser jogado, e mais do que nunca torço para uma continuação    … Expand

Ryse: Son of Rome, pertenece a esa categoría.

    Ryse: Son of Rome es básicamente un hack and slash. Cuyo gran potencial reside principalmente en su poderío gráfico, el juego es sencillamente espectacular en este aspecto. Una verdadera muestra de poder no solo del desempeño de la consola, sino también del motor gráfico obra de la gente de Crytec. Incluso casi 10 años después de que saliera a la luz, no tiene nada que envidiar a otras producciones actuales ejecutadas bajo Unreal Engine, es asombroso.

    Otro punto a destacar es su historia. Una verdadera película del género peplum donde se nos narra una historia de venganza encarnada en un joven soldado, Marius Titus, perteneciente a una familia acomodada de la capital del imperio, al que un día de buenas a primeras, le asesinan a toda su familia en un asalto a su vivienda, perpetrado por unos bárbaros. Aprovechando su condición de soldado y excelentes habilidades para el combate da muerte a los invasores y posteriormente se alista en la campaña de Britania, donde espera obtener su venganza encontrando a aquellos que ordenaron la invasión de su casa y el asesinato de su familia. Lo que encuentra allí no es precisamente lo que él esperaba. El viaje de Marius nos llevará por escenarios muy diferentes, llenos de enemigos, trampas y peligros, además de jefes desafiantes que nos pondrán, en ocasiones las cosas muy difíciles.

    Aparte de desvelar la historia y el disfrute de lo espectacular de su combate, Ryse ofrece algo de exploración para conseguir sus coleccionables, entre los que destaca un precioso cómic digital en el que se cuenta con mucho más detalle el contexto de la historia. Lo que le da a la campaña un aliciente importante para re jugarla en una dificultad mayor si el juego te ha parecido corto. Ojo, esta es una de las principales críticas que ha recibido el juego, a mi me ha parecido que es la duración estándar para este tipo de aventuras, no siempre un juego tiene que pasar de las 20 horas ni mucho menos para ser bueno o reseñable. Me ha durado unas 8 horas de partida jugando con calma y muriendo algunas veces hasta entender algunas mecánicas de combate que se encuentran durante la partida. Conociendo lo que te vas a encontrar y yendo a saco, pues sí te durará menos de 5, pero en la primera vuelta veo esto complicado.

    Desvelar la historia, disfrutar de los espectaculares gráficos, ambientaciones y animaciones del combate, desbloquear los extras que la campaña nos ofrece y mejorar al máximo las habilidades de Marius, nos llevará un puñado de horas interesantes, pero si eso no es suficiente, el título se alarga con los combates de gladiadores de su vertiente multijugador, que no hemos probado, pero que seguro que le puede arañar unas cuantas horas más.

    En definitiva, Ryse: Son of Rome es un gran videojuego. Un excelente exclusivo de Xbox que merece la pena jugar y disfrutar    … Expand

    Personally, I liked the game, despite the monotonous gameplay, some scenes look spectacular. Unfortunately, there are very few games in this setting.. It's a pity they didn't screw 4 to the patch for Xbox One X. I hope for the second part for the Xbox One Series X.

Вот только RYSE допускает те же ошибки, что 300:MoG, а именно скатывается в однообразие и рутину. Сюжет банален, а ультрографон не спасёт сына Рима в схватке с призраком Спарты!     Fantastic game. Story is extremely compelling and graphics are amazing. Combat can become a little stale but overall does not diminish from the games integrity.

Ryse is a amazing concept and does a great job with boss fights and story telling. however things like multiplayer and the sad inclusion of kencit support really held this game back. the Graphics still hold up to this day and i'm really hoping Micrsoft and Crytech andwhile i did find the game play to be to basic and repetitive i overall really did enjoy the story and wished it was longer. Ryse is a amazing concept and does a great job with boss fights and story telling. however things like multiplayer and the sad inclusion of kencit support really held this game back. the Graphics still hold up to this day and i'm really hoping Micrsoft and Crytech and figure out how to bring this series back to life for next gen and re-focus this game into a fun single player game.… Expand

    Even nearly 5 years after its original release, Ryse: Son of Rome continues being of the best-looking game of this generation. The graphics aspect in this game is impressive, with highly-detailed character models, environments and some breathtaking cinematics. It’s definitely a showcase of the power of Crytek’s CryEngine.

    The game looks great, and keeps you going at a nice pace.
    Minus points are that it crashed multiple times on me while playing it. Also, not all things (such as the d-pad keys) are explained very well. And the final boss (not N.) was rather "frustrating".

    Juego bastante infravalorado en su momento. Apenas lo jugué y quedé maravillado de lo bien que se ve. La historia es bastante buena y no se diga de su doblaje. El gameplay en mi caso me gustó bastante. Aún sigo sin creer que este juego haya sido de lanzamiento para el Xbox One. Lo recomiendo un montón.

    Ryse Son of Rome was truly a next gen title for Xbox One at the time. Unfortunately, Xbox gamers only seem to like COD and Fortnite. Take this game and put it on Sonys platform and it would be an 85 all day long. I throughly enjoyed it -it was different and we needed different at the start of a that Gen. Definitely one of my favorite Xbox One titles.

    I don't know if Gaystation fanboys are okay or they just hate XBOX games for nothing. This game is PERFECT. Graphics and gameplay wise but the problem is the fighting scenes are abit repetitive and the story is short. If Microsoft and Crytech added more fighting scenes awith different skills and long gameplay the game would have been a huge hype

    I love and hate Ryse at the same time. It was the first game I bought for the Xbox One and first I was stunned of the great graphics and setting. After some hours it all became a bit repetitive - especially the finishing moves. Nevertheless a very funny game. Overall rating: 7,5.

    Interesting thing I would like to point out ; In the every other game I've played, whenever an action cutscene plays your character performs killing moves that you can not do in the actual gameplay. But in this one you can actually execute most of Marius' cutscene moves and this greatly increases the immersive feeling for me, makes watching the cutscenes even more enjoyable.

    I also understand why some compare it to gow. Only thing missing is more variety of gameplay. In many other ways I found it more successful than the new gow games.
    There are rumors that the sequel is in development, I hope it's true.

    It also looks very good even without oneX improvement. It is admirable that they were able to give these visuals even on Xbox One, which is weaker than the PS4. I thought these images were only possible in racing games on this device.

    When I look at it, One's launch games are really solid games. Way better than ps4's launch titles.
    But unfortunately, these games did not get the attention they deserve due to the kinect-loving managers and terrible pr.

    Gets lots of bad reviews but I actually enjoyed going through it. Game is basic but reminded of games like Dante's inferno. I think Kinect was just too far ahead of the time and this game just was hit by the xone release too hard. Look now at Alexa and people wanting to control their tv with voice and hand motions

The graphics are really good on my series console. There are still people playing the multiplayer, the achievements are fun to get and there are a bunch! It’s also a short game which I love. Don’t get me wrong I love long open world games but ima till a fan of a linear and cinematic 8 hour campaign. I played this for a change of pace after sinking 100+ hours into elden ring , and it was perfect to change things up. If you have game pass or a couple extra bucks when the game is on sale, download it and play through it, you will have fun! There is also fun co-op too, this would be a great guys night game!     It’s a great game, I played it originally on gamepass then I played god of war 2018 and I was just wondering how this game was so much more fun. It made me like it even more when I found out it was an Xbox exclusive. If you like good combat games give it a shot, it also has a story I really liked.

    Ryse is a bit of a marmite game, if you are looking for a great gaming experience that takes forever to perfect then Ryse is not for you. If you are interested in a Roman interactive movie with a solid story line then I’d say give it a shot.

    Ryse: Son of Rome is a really good looking game, but at the same time incredible stupid. Thanks to the graphics and the amount of brutal combat the adventure managed to entertain, at least for a bit. If you find Ryse on sale it can be worth a closer look, but for a full price game it’s a disappointment.
