Rush Rover on Xbox One is a solid roguelike bullet-hell game, and for the price point you can’t go wrong. The game runs well and there is enough variety to provide a few hours of fun. Is it as great as some of the other roguelike bullet-hell games on the market? No, but in terms of investment compared to time played, it definitely gives back more than you have to put in it.

Rush Rover manages to hit that sweet spot in roguelikes of being a good challenge, but also not feeling like it’s wasting the players time every time they have to restart. Some generic visuals and awful music aside, there’s a lot of fun to be had with it – and a few extra easy cheevos never goes amiss eh?

You'll traverse throughRush Rover is a 16-bit overhead Twin-Stick Rouge-Lite Shooter. You're a mining bot tasked with cleaning up the area. You'll traverse through randomly generated areas, with a lot of destructible terrain. You'll be finding upgrades, and destroying rogue robots along your way. You'll also find currency that will allow you to upgrade your Robot. IF you die, it's back to the beginning with you! The bosses are the greatest challenge employing bullet-hell causing you to do more dodging than aiming. There is a Dodge mode, where you are stripped of your offensive abilities and tasked with staying alive while weaving in and out of an onslaught of firepower. The game doesn't bring any new ideas to the table, but the concepts it implements into the game are well balanced and keep the game challenging. Rush Rover is a great time killer and will kill that time before you know it. The time spent on Rush Rover went by fast as the action can keep you locked if you're already a fan of the Rouge-lite style of gameplay. The Interface confused me at first, but once I got it figured out, adapting the power-ups to my gameplay was simple. Rush Rover is well worth its minuscule price tag, as it can pass the hours with ease, and has nearly endless replayability. Expand
