I only enjoyThe psychological horror genre is a genre you either love or hate and I’m one of them who actually enjoys these types of game’s. I only enjoy them though if they make me nervous and for me a successful horror is built upon suspense and dread. There isn’t too many of these game’s available at the moment so I’m always eager to try a new game out in this specific genre and the new game in question that’s made its way to the Xbox One is actually pretty good. Don’t get me wrong I’ve played better game’s than Rise of Insanity and it does suffer with a few shortcomings, but the main thing is that this game got more things right than it got wrong. Game’s like this should always provide you with some genuine scary moments and thankfully this is what Rise of Insanity does. I will admit now that the jump scares provided in the game actually scared me quite a bit and this did make me want to progress through the story more. The story is actually pretty good but it’s also predictable as well so don’t expect much suspense when it comes to knowing what’s going to happen because you will probably work that out in the first few minutes. The gameplay hasn’t got a huge amount to it but I didn’t expect there to be that much to it either because these game’s flourish in other areas. I will say though that I did like the inclusion of the puzzles in the gameplay and whilst none of them are really challenging they do provide you with more tension and fit in with the story quite well. I was also impressed with how well the game holds up on the technichal side of things. There is literally nothing wrong with the game and no problems means you have a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout your time with the game. Unfortunately though this smooth and enjoyable experience doesn’t last for very long because in terms of content the game doesn’t have very much and you’ll be done with the game in just a couple of hours, which is a shame. For me the most important aspect of a game of this ilk is its presentation, and thankfully they’ve done a brilliant job here. Visually the game is actually pretty decent but without a doubt the best thing is its sound design. The different sounds placed into certain areas creates a very creepy and scary atmosphere and if there was something that actually made you think that you were in real danger then this aspect of the game would’ve been perfect. At the end of the day if you love horror game’s then there’s enough in Rise of Insanity that will satisfy you. It isn’t perfect though and it does have a few imperfections but in the end it does what it sets out to do and that is scare you.… Expand
