I don't think I've laughed so much playing a game with a buddy before. "REZ PLZ" just had me cracking up over all the hysterical moments with Arcan and Zeph. They are two wizard apprentices that spend the night before their big exam drinking. They are really hilarious adorable characters that i wish I could see more of besides the opening cut scene. That is okay though because they will have you cracking up the entire game, and just how you sacrifice each other to move ahead. See the two brothers are thrown down into a pit by the evil Dark Arcanum. He sees them as no threat as he invades their town. So that is where your journey begins. As you can play couch coop, or go it alone. I highly recommend taking it on with a friend. It's a total blast to play with someone. It can be done alone though, it's just a lot tougher process. You will have to control them both.
The way the game works is you have to make your way through a level where some times you can't get past something without sacrificing one of the brothers. Like a bunch of spikes you can throw one of the brothers on it, and the other can jump off his back. Floor of lava jump in and the other brother can jump off your head as you sink. There are so many different ways you will see the brothers sacrifice them self. It's okay though because the only scroll they have and only good magic skill they do well is resurrection . So as soon as you make it over you just REZ your brother back into the game. That sounds super easy, but I promise you it is not. Each brother can only do this three times, because it requires a magic gem. You will find more though as you go along though, and as you finish each level refilled It does have crazy difficulty spikes, is one reason I recommend playing with a friend.
I love how the game looks. It has a real retro vibe to it, and the characters are so cute and funny. The music and sounds all feel really well placed into this title. Mostly it seems really well polished, except for a few hiccups along the way. Times when things don't work like they should, and you have to restart a level. It doesn't happen a whole lot though. It's really few and far between to be honest. I mostly enjoyed myself. The controls feel pretty precise except for a few times when you feel like your jump is a little off. None of these are game breaking, or take away from the hilarious and challenging adventure. I will say this might not be for everyone. It's not like crazy hard and frustrating like "Jump King" can be, but it will test you. I could see some gamers that struggle with difficult games maybe not appreciating it as much as gamers who like a little test to their gaming experience. It can feel a little repetitive as well,. Some of the levels and puzzles can feel like you've done this so many times before. Which I like for the fact that you learn how to do it. Mastering it could be a lot of fun for Speed running. This is one I'd enjoy running, and seeing others run as well.
I will close by saying this is one of the better COOP games I've played this year. It does everything it sets out to do. A really hilarious and exciting puzzler that makes you plan out every move. If you are looking for something fun to play with a friend or family member this will certainly provide hours of entertainment. If you're playing with someone that enjoys a challenge as much as you you both are going to enjoy a ton of laughs and frustration. I really think most will enjoy Arcan and Zeph little adventure as well as the really cool designed enemies and levels. I had a lot of fun from start to finish. Solo and COOP, but I could see why some people say it isn't as fun on your own. I really liked the challenge of figuring it out on my own. So hopefully between the video, and the written review I've given you a pretty good idea what you are in store for. If you decide to play it drop a comment, and let me know what you thought. It's always great to hear from you guys, and get your opinions on things. So until next time Gamer Guys and Gals see you in the leader boards.
