    Razed is fun and flashy. It’s a platformer focused on speed and precision and it’s backed up with fair level design and good mechanics. In its dash towards the finish line, it hits every step almost perfectly. Unfortunately, the couple misses hold it back from top marks. It’s got an uneven difficulty curve that will undoubtedly turn away some casual players. It’s also got an almost required backtracking element to find hidden upgrades and that’s not fun when all you want to do is break records and keep moving through the levels. Razed is nevertheless a joy to play on many occasions and that’s often enough to make it worth playing.

    This may indeed be somewhat of a cliché, but this game is the definition of easy to pick up, yet very hard to master. Despite its unforgiving steep difficulty curve, Razed is a fun, vibrant, and engaging speedrunner. The pace of the game is sensational, and its constant introduction of new and interesting mechanics ensures that repetition is kept at bay, throughout.

    The neon sights and off-the-wall premise of Razed make it stand out as a unique and enjoyable indie. However, its reliance on memorization makes mastering its stages eventually become more tedious than fun.

    I loved the visual style that each level delivered to me because everything stood out and in a way it made the the gameplay that little bitI loved the visual style that each level delivered to me because everything stood out and in a way it made the the gameplay that little bit more exhilarating. There is a decent amount of replaybility present thanks to the online leaderboards and beating your time or somebody else’s gives you a great sense of achievement. You can complete the levels in a number of different ways and this does keep things fresh and interesting whilst also giving you a bit of freedom as well. The game offers you a decent amount of levels each packed with variety and each being very different from the other.
    I liked how they introduced the different skills you can use during the levels. You will get frustrated every now and then because some of the levels can be pretty difficult. Exploding can be a real nuisance especially if you’re quite far in a level. The platforming can feel a little bit floaty at times which does cause you to experience a few cheap deaths. Speedrunning platformers are game’s you either love or hate because whilst they can be fun and enjoyable at times they can also be infuriating at times as well. Razed does exactly that and as far as this genre is concerned it’s definitely a decent addition to the genre. Something that strikes you straight away with this game is its art style which is very distinct to say the least. This art style then combines excellently with the different levels and I’m very pleased to say that each level has tons of variety and plays out differently. Prepare yourself though because some levels are rather difficult and the floaty platforming feel will cause you to experience a few cheap deaths here and there which can be quite frustrating. You also have to watch out for the exploding mechanic as well which can be a real nuisance so watch your energy meter quite closely especially if your using lots of your skills. Despite the few frustrating moments the game throws up it still didn’t stop from returning back to the game time and time again though and with the inclusion of the online leaderboards the game has some replaybility which means Razed gets a recommendation from me.    … Full Review »
