  • Summary: Radio Commander offers a unique experience very different from classic real time strategy games. It’s a bold try to redefine the genre, as the player will be involved in a decision making process much more realistic than those pictured by casual RTS titles. Ask for situation reports. Keep track of the situation based on their voice reportsRadio Commander: Use the radio to give commands to the soldiers on the battlefield. Keep track of the situation based on their voice reports only. Lead US platoons to clash with Vietcong in a realistic, innovative approach to the RTS genre. Make hard choices in a narrative driven experience, and face the outcome. The game is set during the Vietnam war, so there's American voice acting, with some banter included in the radio chatter. The UI is nicely done, which is not surprising, as the development could be focused on the feel of the game rather than a real-time 3D engine. There are nice period touches, map colors, jargon, and obviously storyline. In Radio Commander you move your warriors and war machines about and check their status by sending them instructions via a virtual radio set. In theory these instructions could be barked into a real microphone. In practice, most players, initially at least, will probably opt to use the rather more laborious order menus. Expand

However, I can imagine that if you have no special interest in this conflict and do not appreciate to much realism(War can be boring and frustrating, especially in the rear with the gear),You might have trouble appreciating this simulation.
If you grew up watching "tour of duty" and love the movie "platoon",Its worth checking out.
