It’s hard to determine who Queen’s Quest 4 is actually for. While it’s a relaxing way to spend a few hours, it’s an experience that will vanish from your memory the moment it’s done with. It’s easy to appreciate the wonderful visuals and casually fun puzzles to indulge in, however its story often clashes with the tone the rest of the game represents.

While I personally haveThis game is a point and click hidden object game with a fantasy story. It is the fourth in the Queen’s Quest series. While I personally have not played the other titles, I was still able to follow and understand the story easily.

There is two difficulties to choose from, casual and expert. Casual gives hints freely, and is a really great experience for someone that is new to these types of games. In expert mode, hints and puzzles are more difficult. I didn’t find myself needing many hints, but I really appreciate when games add this as a feature. It makes the game more accessible and I like that a lot.

There are many different sorts of puzzles and mini games within the game with lots of variation to keep it engaging and fun. Sometimes these style of games suffer from being repetitive, but that wasn’t an issue with Sacred Truce. There are even mini games within the normal hidden object games, like using a hammer to break an item open, or a key on a lock to retrieve an item you need to find. There is also the option to completely skip over the hidden object aspect with a matching mini game instead. There is also a lot of achievements and collectibles, which I think adds a little replayablity to the game.

The scenery and artwork for this game are really beautiful, and I found myself admiring the background pretty often. The music is pleasant and fits the theme of the game well, but I did notice there is only a few songs on a loop. If you’re really paying attention it can get a little annoying just hearing the same song over and over.

The only true problem I ran into with this game were the controls. In order to collect an object, you click on it. But sometimes the game doesn’t register your click. There was a few times where I thought I was doing something wrong, and hunted around the map looking for what I was meant to do, when in reality it was the game not registering I had clicked on the item I needed. This was frustrating at times, but the only hurdle I encountered with the game.

Overall, this game was really fun. Games like these are great for unwinding, and Sacred Truce was no expection. I would give it a 7 out of 10

Queens Quest 4: Sacreed Truce is Artifex Mundi;s newest release for the Xbox One. As many of you know I'm quite a fan of the Artifex Mundi games and series, but this game didn't excite me as much as the previous Queen's Quest series. Queen's Quest 2 was definitely my favorite of the lot, but the rest in the series haven't lived up to the same standards, although they're still not horrible games and there's still fun to be had here for Artifex Mundi fans like myself. Notewrthly is that there is a bonus quest in the game, which does lengthen and improve the value of the game. However overall if feels It's quite short, and fairly easy, but it's still relaxing in the style we have come accustomed to. Like the game, the production values are high, but the story is a little so-so and it's very straight forward. So, you get the usual Artifex Mundi benefits: clean, professional art, relaxing music track, clean gameplay), and most of the bells and whistles you're accustomed to. There the usual achievements and the map didn't feel very useful to me in game. There didn't seem to be a way to tell if you'd already found all items in any given area, which was quite annoying, although I still managed to find them all. Mostly, this game was ok for me. The protagonist was fine, but the story was too linear, and I got frustrated by the way the game set up like spells I never had to use. It was as if somebody had a cool idea and then someone took over the project without the ideas they had in mind to implement. With all that said I diid enjoy the game and if you are and Artifex Mundi fan also be sure to pick it up and add to your Xbox One library. Expand
