Overall, Q*bert Rebooted: The Xbox One @!#?@! Edition is great. It offers a lot for its very low price.

If you grew up playing Q*bert, the Rebooted package is both a revitalization of a formula that you already enjoy, as well as a nostalgic trip down a colorful and snake-infested memory lane. For everyone else, however, it doesn’t have the lasting appeal of a contemporary puzzler.

The best part of the package is the emulation of the old arcade machine, while all the new levels and mechanics work against a lot that good ole Q-Bert was fighting for more than 30 years ago.

Poorly implemented controls and a poorly designed and rather uninspired rebooted version of the original arcade classic make it safe to pass on this Q*bert "reboot" and wait for the next one to come along.

It will score a lot of points for the sake of nostalgia, but in all honesty the reboot does nothing important that the original didn't do better, 34 years ago.

Q*bert Rebooted's Xbox One version is marginally better than the original game - particularly when it comes to the new EDM soundtrack - but it still feels like a cheap mobile title meant to cash in on Q*bert's appearance in "Pixels."

Lets start this off quick: TL, DNR: The reboot sucks, but the original (which is included) is still awesome. Now onto the full review.

At first it's kind of neat, the visuals have been improved, and you even get to choose various (mostly Halloween) skins for Q-Bert. And while I do enjoy the skins, the gameplay is terrible. And it's not because the game has lackluster controls (which it does, but you eventually get used to it), but instead because it's repetitive and uninspired.

It only has about 6 levels/maps, which itself wouldn't be too bad, but you have to play the stages over and over again until you are sick of them. And they will raise and lower the difficulty randomly from "stage" to "stage" (I use quotes because each "stage" is one map repeated 3 times). Each stage has 3 objectives you should complete before moving onto the next level: Beat the level, beat the level within a certain time limit, and beat the level with the high score (which is mostly unlocked either killing enough Slicks, or more commonly, never dying). You can complete it all in one try, but if you do not get all the objectives the first time around, you can play the stage again and focus on only one of the remaining objectives. Though with 40 stages and only 6 levels, this gets old really fast. At best, you play those 6ish levels 120 times total. Though with the difficulty changes, it can easily become twice that. It is extremely tedious, and is the main thing wrong with this game.

the soundtrack has been remastered into a newer style (which is hit or miss for some), and they did introduce some new enemies (such as the Boxing Glove), but overall, This game is awful, and the only reason I am not giving this 1 out of 10 is because they included the original game for free. I don't recommend you buy this, unless you absolutely are a fan of old school Q-Bert and have no other way to get a Q-Bert game (Frankly, I recommend Q-Bert 3 on the SNES, as that I feel is the best version of Q-Bert out there).
