EDIT- I find it disgusting that over on PS4 and PC, this game is getting rave reviews, but as usual the XBOX ONE section is full of negativity. You know what? Overall this is an excellent game. I fear that it will be lost on a lot of people however because they will cry and whine that they can't add rims and turbos to their cars...

This is NOT a fast and furious style game where you collect and customize cars, that is not what this game is about. Personally I love horizon 2 and gta but this game is different, it is focused purely on racing and it does a great job.

This is a PURE racing game where all tracks and cars are unlocked from the start. It reminds me a lot of PC racing games. You can configure everything to your liking, there is a ton of options! Hell the xbox one version even has some basic graphics setting options!

You can play career, quick race and online race. So far ive been playing through career and you start off racing go karts (like in real life) and gradually if you do well you will be invited to championship events and to sign new contracts for more powerful car classes.

So far ive kept opponent AI at the default setting, and the game is difficult! I mean really difficult like I spent 2 hours on one race last night. You have to drive perfectly, one slip up and the race is basically over as you will spin out and end up in last place. I kept restarting the race over and over till i finally nailed it....the game play is immersive and challenging and im loving it.

Graphics are good, not quite as good as Forza 5, but there are weather conditions and day/night time to figure into that.

Sound is excellent, especially using a headset.

The only downsides so far are a few bugs here and there but im sure these will be sorted. Also while there are loads of tracks, there are simply not enough cars, but again im hoping they add more soon.

In conclusion this is a great racing sim and you get a lot for your money. Once again I fear for the success of this game and hope it doesn't get ruined by the usual cry babies and trolls. Collapse

The career is varied enough to keep you interested and huge grids, the option of practice/qualifying, beautiful dynamic weather and all round bang on simulation set it aside from the competition on the console. I could go on but seriously, if you're a racing fan, stop reading this and just buy it now. This is the game I've been waiting for since TOCA Race Driver 3. Would be a straight 10/10 if it wasn't for a few tiny niggles - the online matchmaking needs improving and the AI can be a bit weird at times but the game is so good you won't care. Expand

Full race weekend! This is the first true sim racing in the consoles.

    But:
Few bug, and the performance (FPS) is not good. (Sometimes dry track, but especially problematic in the rain...)

The 60 FPS is very important. We are waiting for the correction/patch.

This game would give Forza a run for its money if the frame-rate was locked at 60. Instead it dips below 30 and can effect gameplay!! Also sound bugs are everywhere. To me the simulation aspect is awesome but the games frame-rate kills it for me!! Good game that could of been Great. The graphics are very good and gameplay is also top notch for a SIM. Need for speed players stay away!!!

I can say hand on heart that in all my years playing racing games, sim, arcade and sim-cade, this is THE deepest racing game I have ever played in my life. This is taking into account that the career mode has no strict set path, you can start the career from any motorsport division included in the game that you wish, from karting to touring car racing to GT3 or GT4 racing. Not only that, every race, every win, every loss, everything that occurs in-game effects what the in-game news feed and social blog will say about you as a driver. You will be praised for every win, adored by fans who root for you in forthcoming races, and also evoke disappointment when you lose, or drop out. I have to say that this mechanic alone has successfully engrossed me into the world of motorsport; I feel like every contribution I make effects my personality as a driver, and I try my best to please my adoring fans and my teammates.
Couple that with the tight driving mechanics, and I am fully mesmerised. There aren't too many cars available in the game, about 60 or so, but the compensation for that is so rewarding. Every car is constructed with, IMO one of the most detailed and realistic driving models I have ever experienced. Everything about each car matters, from the tyres they use out on track, weight balance, downforce, suspension etc., if I named everything we'd be here all day. This makes the driving so immersive, and the helmet cam aids to improve the experience.
Graphically, despite some complaints over the graphical quality of the Xbox One version (not limited to such though), I couldn't disagree more. The game allows you to change certain visual aspects of the game, although they don't make any significant impact on the gameplay as a whole, but it's nice that they're there. The game runs at 900p60fps, which is a slight step down from the PS4's 1080p60fps, but trust me, once you get into the game you'll hardly care to tell the difference. Resolution aside, every track and every car looks meticulously detailed, particularly cars that have exposed inner workings such as the engine or suspension underneath the car's panels. Vehicle damage is solid as well, mechanically anyway. Personally I find the visual damage a slight bit underwhelming than what I anticipated, but considering the intricacy of the mechanical damage, coupled with failures that can render your car useless, I can forgive that.
The sound design, as with previous Slightly Mad developments, is crisp and clean, but REALLY loud (seriously, turn down your speakers if you plan on playing this for elongated sessions). There are sounds reused from Shift and Shift 2: Unleashed, but they mainly consist of impact sounds, nothing to criticise too heavily here. Overall, every car sounds like they should (at least I think so, don't quote me on that).
Overall, there's little for me to fault in Project CARS, although of the criticisms I have towards this game, I found that when there's a lot on screen happening, such as rainy weather coupled with a 24 car grid while every car is on the move, the frame rate tends to drop to about 30-20 fps, which can be frustrating. Also, the online portion of the game needs updating. I would criticise the sensitivity of the throttle, but personally I found that it complimented the already tight driving. It punished you for overbearing the throttle, causing serious wheel-spin at a stand-still, much like if you actually over-revved a (powerful) car without the application of the brakes.
Overall, I couldn't recommend this game more, if you're looking for a core simulation experience on consoles. It's not perfect by any means (no game ever is, not even Ocarina of Time) but I could overlook most of the frustrations (Lykan Hypersport is more difficult to drive than it should be though), and let the extremely deep career mode mesmerise me into the intricate world of motorsport.
Sure, not everyone will click with the handling model, but even then, the game as a whole is brilliant in its execution.

Exceeded my expectations, the graphics are beautiful, the is a ton of stuff to customize in options, controls, even graphics (with sadly other developers don't let you choose what things you really want do show). Full race weekend, full race distances, 30 cars grid, multi class or not... you just don't find these in any other console game. The game has progression in carrer mode if you want, you are free to choose if you start from scratch (Karting) or right into F-1 (F-A) or LMP1, you don't have to buy cars since you are a pro drivers, you run with the cars the teams let available for you.

The Xbox One version of Project Cars isn't a great game like PC version just because their problems, like stuttering, poor frame rate, control issues and other things that can easily fix with patchs. So the game was launched unfinished I think. Besides that it's a game that promise very much.

Project Cars is the first true next gen simulative racing game and a groundbraking one at that. It's the first racing game to present fully dynamic day/night cycle, weather, and track (grip changes based on traffic, weather), combined with advanced tire and car physics that not only rival but actually exceet of kinds like Assetto Corsa or even Iracing. Starting from tires that react not only to track tempertures and cool/heat up based on the track tempertures but also by the tempertures of the brakes (that properly simulated by heat and wear) and rims that function as a heatsink, tires age and blister physically if abused, flatspots can lead to punctures and hitting walls or other cars hard causes the tires/suspensition to misalign. Volumetric throttle that is affected by weather/humidity and altitude is just one component of so many that are so highly detailed and simulated that once you grasps and feel the difference it makes when you drive with cars in this simulation at the limit, that it starts to immerse you to a whole nother level.

The amazing graphics and sound vastly help bringing and aiding the immersion and the sense of speed is incredible. Project Cars is very well optimized and runs exceptionally well even on older Nvidia GPU's however AMD GPU drivers still need a lot of work but that is a common problem.

Another highlight of Project Cars are the incredible cars. They are the most detailed and best build cars in any racing game to date. The game is worth a purchase just for the cars and their amazing sounds alone and with the combination of the previously mentioned top-class physics.

The racing tracks, which most are laser scanned, are build with huge attention to detail and passion and easily compete with reference racing tracks from likes of Iracing. Even the ones that are not laser scanned have realistically placed bumps which bring your Forcefeedback to life.

Forcefeedback is another area where Project Car shines and leaves it's compeditors in its digital dust. It's highly adjustable/configureable to tailor anyones preferences and no sign of canned/faked effects but instead full of details that immerses you further to another level. The FFB is class leading beating already great Iracing FFB.

The racing AI is excellent, aggressive but respectful of your car if you respect theirs. Give them room just like in real life, they will give you room as well. Side by side racing is not only very possible with that approach but happens all the time.

The sheer amount of content you get in form of cars and tracks make this a great buy and highly recommendation for any racing/driving game fan! The level of immersion by graphics, sound, physics is something that can't be described by words but HAS to be experienced on your own.

A mild warning, once you go to Project Cars and get fully immersed, you can't really go back to other simulators, it's that GOOD!

    Enjoy racing everyone!

There isn't "Credit" or "Money" to spend on new upgrades or rims It's more about learning how to tweak your cars Tire Pressure, Gear Ratios and other settings that let you make your car your own. The graphics in Project Cars are phenomenal, some scenes seem almost real with the amount of detail put into the vehicles or tracks themselves. The crowd still looks like it's from a PS2 Game but you will hardly notice them. The ability to tweak the difficulty the way you want it makes the game much more enjoyable when you are looking for a challenge but still want a chance, you can choose between CPU Difficulty, Driver Assists and other options to help you. Weather effects like Rain look good in Project Cars but I have seen better in other Sim Racers like DriveClub. If you are a fan of Sim Racers you will really enjoy Project Cars with it's lifelike game-play and fairly good car selection but if you a fan of more forgiving arcade racers like Forza or Need for Speed you may not enjoy Project Cars and it's unforgiving handling. I'm a big fan of sim rally racing (Richard Burns Rally, Dirt Rally being the best games I found) and was searching for a similarly-realistic road racing title.

A friend introduced me to iRacing (on PC) a while back. I found it satisfyingly realistic (I think it's still the best you can get) but the monthly payment and paid cars were too much for someone not totally invested in the sport (e.g. living and breathing racing, learning all of the intricacies of tuning specific cars, etc.). Plus I can't play on console, which I prefer for practicality reasons.

I have recently purchased the Game of the Year version of Project CARS and I am quite satisfied! Great physics and graphics, great sound (awesome with good headphones such as Grados), etc. etc. I did not notice any bug. Might have mostly been fixed since the game was released.

While I'm not a sim-racing die-hard, I simply can't play anything that approaches arcade racing games because I find those games extremely unrealistic, causing me to crash everywhere. To me, there's no thrill in arcade driving. Games such as Forza 5, while having incredibly good-looking graphics and presentation, are extremely boring and unsatisfying to me. The physics in Project CARS are *great* so I'm satified. Everything else is accessory to me, but luckily the rest of the game seems polished as well.

I think playing a sim racing game with a controller is contradictory. Someone looking for a racing game with above-average physics to play with a controller should look at the Forza series on Xbox One instead of Project CARS.

I feel Iike this will become my go-to title for road racing from now on. A nice complement to Dirt Rally!

If this "story" calls you, you might really like Project CARS, give it a try! :)
