Praey for the Gods excels in some aspects but is hampered by a number of tedious mechanics. The boss battles are truly impressive in terms of design and execution and will please fans of SOTC. However, the dated controls make traversal and combat cumbersome. In an attempt to broaden the gameplay, No Matter Studios has added a survival system that is detrimental to the enjoyment. This, along with other needless mechanics, hampers the game. Rather than a tailored, focused adventure, the Praey for the Gods combines too many elements that make this a convoluted experience.

An under-par Shadow of the Colossus clone with out of focus survival mechanics and some distracting technical flaws.

Praey for the Gods could have reached the “good game” category. Unfortunately, it only takes a short period of time with the controller in hand before one understands that the means used aren’t enough. The narrative is non-existent, there are no dialogues, the bestiary is scanty, and the fights aren’t thrilling. Similarly to Assassin’s Creed back in the day, we can also mention problems where the character gets stuck when climbing and the sum of all these flaws is further putting down No Matter Studios’ already injured title. It’s a shame considering that Praey for the Gods’ concept could’ve truly been original. Such a shame…

Runs great, with smoothPlayed this for the first time on my next-gen console and was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable this game was. Runs great, with smooth 60fps and a resolution bump, the environment looks good. Nice open world to explore and puzzle dungeons/secrets to find while you are adventuring to the next boss battle. And holy hell these boss battles are awesome! The sheer scale and size of these creatures and the arenas you fight them in are truly epic! Not sure how the game was at launch, but as it is now it is a good experience. Just remember to turn off those pesky survival mechanics.. Expand

This could have been a really good game if the developers had focused more on giving us a better main character and a tighter script. TheThis could have been a really good game if the developers had focused more on giving us a better main character and a tighter script. The survival mechanics also seemed to be patched on at the last minute. Throw in numerous bugs and performance issues and this becomes one for the bargain bin. Rather go back and play the king of this type of game, namely, Shadow of the Colossus. Expand
