Power Rangers was one of the biggest franchises when my son was growing up, and dressing up for halloween and watching all the shows was something he and his friends enjoyed. I have fond memories of teasing him about what power ranger he was to get a rise knowing what his favorite was I purposefully picked the wrong one to get a rise about the admiration he had for the franchise. I have fond memories of teasing him about what power ranger he was to get a rise knowing what his favorite was I purposefully picked the wrong one to get a rise about the admiration he had for the franchise. I was interested to play Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid since every video game released that brings back to old memories or nostalgia grab my interest. Unfortunately that excitement quickly turned to boredom because after playing this entry of the franchise, there’s simply not enough content to keep you occupied despite knowing I was stepping into a value priced fighter, I had set my expectations realistic although the season pass more than doubles the entry fee to this game. The lack of variety present within the content you do get, doesn’t help matters and pulling off combos and different moves is actually pretty satisfying when accomplished in any fighting game. The characters are easy enough to control (almost too easy) but this gets quickly lost due to the very basic presentation and lack of flare needed in this genre. With a lack of a story the on-line battle is where I found any fun moments in the game, however it took forever to match-up and quickly found there’s not much of a player-base which is crucial for any season pass or longevity of the game to enjoy a "season pass" in the fighting genre. If you were a fan of Power Rangers back in the day, I say pass on Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid because in the end it fails to capture the excitement this franchise had for it's fan-base. More than likely you’ll be disappointed as well. Maybe give the base game a go if you are a mega-fan and skip the season pass to satisfy a small portion of the nostalgia you are looking for. For me, there's just not enough meat and potatoes here at the end of the day to give most people a recommendation. Expand

battles again quickly turn into button mashing hoping an attack goes through the ais spam blocking.. playing through this campaign is like playing a fighting game with yoru little brother or sister.. its just annoying and stops any hectic or cool battles from ever happenings.. though the campaign in battle for the grid does offer a bit of challenge from time to time and attempts to bring out some strategy which I can appreciate, but ultimately it comes doen to which attack should I spam until I fill up a special attack or a super move, as the mosty difficult battles are usually unfairly balanced, youll sometimes be taking on 2 to 3 enemies at a times, with sometimes a combination of 6 health bars while you only have 2 or 3… but these are the battles I found to be the most fun, even the tag team type battles where the added strategy of swapping characters comes into play.. though ther aren’t that many characters here.. only 12 with 6 being hid behind a $6 each pay wall… and even more gross is, one of these characters stuck behind a paywall is actually playable within the campaign… complete greedy garbage on the part of this team, sure battle for the grid is only $20 and otherwise id say its worth it, but I just don’t feel such tactic should be rewarded, thankfully though Power Ranger Battle for the Grid is included with Games Pass, and other than that, playstation plus or games with gold are the only times you should consider this game..
I give Power Rangers Battle for the Grid
    a 6.5/10

If you get it on gamepass, it's a fun game to drop some hours into, some of the art is really nice and it's a surprisingly mature story. Don't expect a lot though, the fighting mechanics are a bit too sluggish.

Marvel vs Capcom but with Power Rangers - i'm pretty sure this was the pitch for this game. Not that that's a bad thing, but the problem is MVC has something like 30 characters, this has about 12. Yes could spend £5 each on dlc to buy some new characters... Anyway. I enjoyed this. I think it's a bit unbalanced and it's quite easy to cheese victory with the Red Ranger, but I enjoyed it. IMarvel vs Capcom but with Power Rangers - i'm pretty sure this was the pitch for this game. It's not amazing, but fun for a few hours.

They need difficulty settings in Story Mode. Chapter 13 2nd battle seems more of a button mashing session. The computer is relentless and you almost can't do much. I love Power Rangers, but I want to feel like I accomplished something.

At the end of the day, Battle for the Grid is a solid fighting game. In fact, it is a really good one. The systems work well, it looks flashy and fun, and there’s a decent learning curve to keep players busy. The only thing that really holds it back is the lack of a community. Granted, I am doing this review later on since it released, but I would hope for more than 20 people online playing at the same time. Fighting game fans should give this one a shot if they haven’t already. Maybe bolster up the online community a bit. If that can be done, we’ll have a grand fighter on our hands.

Surprisingly deep and fun to play, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid lacks content to remain engaging in the long term.

I don’t think Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is designed to be a throwback to simpler times, but that is how this feels. It’s just a shame really that there isn’t more of everything.
