Still, for the initial purchase price of $20, Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is a really great fighting game, and can easily hold it’s own with other popular 2D style fighters on the market. Even if you don’t have a great deal of love for Power Rangers as a franchise, like myself, I think you can still appreciate how solid the mechanics are here. The season passes are also reasonably priced for the amount of characters they provide, and again the netcode for online play has been near flawless for me so far. So if you haven’t checked out the game yet, I’d absolutely urge you to do so.

While Grid doesn’t exactly break the mould with its gameplay, they utilize their button configuration and game mechanics to make a very enjoyable and fun smash em up.

The near perfect mechanics of Battle for the Grid aren’t enough to make this a game worth playing. You’ll have a few fun nights with your buddies partaking in some ranger on ranger violence, but you’ll quickly find yourself returning to other mainstream fighting games.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid suffers from dated visuals, poor presentation, and a serious lack of content, unable to hide its low-budget shortcomings. At its core is something of a slick and wholly-accessible fighting game. Yet without the visual pizazz of the brand, a full, varied roster of characters, or a glut of exciting content to dive into, Battle for the Grid ultimately feels like the unfinished prototype of what could have been a very special release.

Nostalgia aside, there aren’t many things to enjoy in this game. It’s ok if you’re looking for a simple and accessible fighting game, but it should have done much more with the IP.

Fun, nostalgic and easy to pick up, but its lack of variety make it feel rushed and unfinished. This game has the potential to be the Power Rangers, but for now, it has ended up being Bulk and Skull.

When you get the heroes of those legends behind the helmThe history of the fighting game is a long one, full of stories, legends, and heroes. When you get the heroes of those legends behind the helm of their own fighting game you see pure fighting game magic such as that displayed in Battle for the Grid. Every nuance of the system is brilliant, clearly standing out in a way only fighting game aficionados like Clockwork and Shady K could have come up with.

Taking the format of the team game seen many times before, we're presented with a fighter with a refreshing simplicity in control, allowing my casual friends to feel like the divide between our experience is dimmed. With the ease of execution being an appealing factor towards learning this game I've managed to convince a bunch of friends with no interest in fighting games at all to learn combos for the first time in our friendships, it's so very exciting to see.
But where it truly stands out is the incredibly assist system, a formula so few team games are willing to experiment with. The delayed assist takeover system is a game changer, allowing the already frantic team game dynamic to be dialed up higher than ever before, with character assists sending them to the opponents flank and swapping to them in an instant creating mix ups the likes of which we've never seen.

I think too much revolving around the circumstances of a games release influence the scores it receives from reviewers online, and for a small developer like nWay behind a game like this that can spell their doom. If a new player comes in search of information the only reviews they'll find reflect a game very different to the one they can play today. Battle for the Grid has come a long way since it's release in April and I'd say it deserves credit for the dedication shown by the developers.

The gameplay is easy to get into, but has actually a lot of depth and the developers are keep adjusting the game even so long after release. It's initial roster might have been low, but with the DLC's it has quite a nice amount to choose from now, and many characters have their own special quirks that make them very unique! The story is nothing too special (like many story modes based on other media, it lacks certain things from the source material to give more Context to things) but it is still nice and anjoyable, and a blast to play through! Arcade mode is there too and for most of the characters it has a little bit of Story with the last couple fights too, but some of the newer characters got their own full story in arcade mode to play through!
Versus mode against either another player or the CPU is also there, so you can make your own matches against an enemy team you select as well! Online works very well and it has Crossplay between ALL Platforms! Yes, even PS4!!!
If you love Power Rangers then you will most likely like this game, if you are a fan of fighting games you will like it too, as well as a fan of the capcom versus Series!
I can absolutely recommend this game =)

I only played the story modePlayed it for free on PS Plus, so I may be being a little more generous than I would be if I had paid for it. I only played the story mode because I enjoyed the Shattered Grid comics. Overall, the gameplay is fine, but the lack of a combo breaker is very annoying. The switching of characters between battles was a little disorienting. One battle would be Jason vs Goldar, then the next would flip it, which was unexpected.

The story mode overall felt a little unpolished. There are a lot of characters locked behind pay walls, which is also annoying and makes the roster feel pretty small. It was a fun distraction for a couple days, but it wasn't free for PS Premium members, I likely wouldn't have paid for it.

This is, quite possibly, one of the best implementations of a simplified control scheme. I feel like it is very intuitive and a lot of people who struggle with traditional fighting games would probably find this one to be far less intimidating. However, nearly every other element is woefully lacking. The roster is tiny, there is no real voice acting, so the game is very oddly quiet, the "story" in the arcade mode is literally just a one line exchange between two characters (once again, not voiced). Hell, when the battle ends, your character doesn't have an animation for exiting the screen, they just pop out of existence. There was clearly some love here. I think some of the people working on Battle for the Grid cared a lot and put some real effort into it. As a direct result, the core game has some genuinely positive attributes. Unfortunately, everything else is so dismal that it is hard to give it a confident recommendation. On the plus side, the game is priced extremely well. So, if you are still curious, and if you think you can ignore the problems it has, you can still give it a go and you won't be throwing away too much of your hard earned money. Collapse Expand

I loved the 1995 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie. So I wish this game just had those characters. A lot of the characters in this game I dont know. I got this game for 10 dollars so Im not mad. But I would give this game a higher rating if I didn't have to pay for DLC characters. Tommie as the White and Gold Ranger is cool. But that skin is DLC.. Lord Zedd is cool but he's DLC.. At least the Red Ranger is here. I love his character. The game looks really good for a Power Rangers fighting game. But it's not a great fighting game in general. If you love Power Rangers it's worth buying on sale. It's worth 20-30 dollars. But try to get it for cheaper if you want dlc content. Expand

Bought the game for ps4 with actual money but approximately 40% of the characters are behind further paywall and expansion packs. Feel rippedBought the game for ps4 with actual money but approximately 40% of the characters are behind further paywall and expansion packs. Feel ripped off. I wanted to play this with my son and he cant understand why nearly half of the characters are locked. Its 2020 and greed ruins yet another game. Expand
