  • Summary: Pipe Push Paradise is a challenging, plumbing-based puzzle game. You’ve arrived on a lonely island faced with a hero’s calling. Rise to the occasion (push pipes around) and restore this paradise to its former glory.

Pipe Push Paradise on Xbox One does an acceptable job at setting the scene and providing a relaxing environment, but where it succeeds the most is in the designs of the pipe-based puzzles that really take plumbing problems to a whole new level.

Those with patience and a mind for spatial puzzles will no doubt relish the challenge on offer here. Whilst difficulty spikes can frustrate to the point of quitting entirely, this is one of those games that gets that under your skin, you cant help but return. That being said, this is likely only going to appeal to a specific crowd, and if that’s you, you might want to bring your own tunes. The audio here is truly annoying.

The movement controls that you deal with constantly are over sensitive, which making controlling your character through the pipe puzzles relatively difficult. there have been better graphics through Mario Paint and the sound was terrible in every aspect. However, the pipe puzzles in 2.5D were both frustrating yet delivered a tremendous amount of satisfaction upon completion. Should you spend your $10.99 on Pipe Push Paradise? Quite simply, no.

There’s a decent variety of puzzles for you to solve with and every one I completed felt very rewarding. Each different mechanic that’s introduced during your time with the game has been done well and in a way it does make the gameplay stand out more. Even though the story doesn’t have much in terms of depth I like that there is one because it sets the scene well and it makes the puzzles have some meaning. I found that the difficulty curve seemed to spike out of nowhere at times and this did make experience frustrating at moments. If played for long periods the game does become quite tedious so I recommend that you play the game in short sessions. I liked that the controls were very responsive sometimes they were a little bit too sensitive which did cause me a few problems. The puzzle genre is a genre you either love or hate and whilst it’s one of my favorite genres. I do like experiencing a game of this nature every now and then. Thankfully there’s a lot to choose from aandn Pipe Push Paradise does enough to stand out from the crowd. As you can guess then this game’s puzzles are all about fitting pipes together and whilst that doesn’t sound the most exciting thing in the world the puzzles that are on offer have been done well. There’s also a number of different mechanics that get introduced along the way as well which does keep things interesting and for me this is very important because it makes you want to return back to the game even if it does get tedious after a while. In terms of problems Pipe Push Paradise’s biggest problem for me was the difficulty. I say the difficulty because it does seem to spike quickly and this does provide you with a few frustrating moments on occasion. Thankfully I was able to look past this and I’m glad I did because each puzzle felt rewarding to complete and the presentation side of the game was also nice to experience as well. At the end of the day then Pipe Push Paradise may not be the best puzzle game out there but it does enough to warrant a purchase and it’s unique enough to get any fan of the genre excited. Thumbs up!
