It's a Persona game alright. You can see the narrative design and game mechanics that would later evolve into the Personas 4 and 5 that we would come to know and love. My goodness, 3 is rough around the edges though.

The giant 262 floor main dungeon that makes up the bulk of the combat gameplay is named Tartarus, and is more repetitive slog than fun gameplay.
Persona 3 has its moments, but I can only recommend it to Persona enthusiasts. The innovative concepts that made this game special aren't as appealing if you're coming from the newer games.
Be warned, the calendar for social links is tight in P3. I finished P4 and 5 with over a month of leftover free time. I barely made it in time with 4 days left in P3. I strongly recommend using a guide. At 52 hours to complete, the game's length was reasonable for the price.… Expand
