To your horror, you find yourself in a hellish labyrinth, trapped behind a steel cage. There are three others unfortunate enough to join you. A voice explains that only one of you will get out. You will need to breathlessly run through an abandoned high school, a creepy hospital, a terrifying morgue and seemingly the depths of hell itself. Racing against your peers, you will need to keep your wits about you, solve insidious clues, avoid demonic obstacles and ultimately find your way to the exit – before it’s too late. Four will enter, but only one will leave. Will it be you? Expand

Smoking is bad for you. The game clearly relays that message to its players at each and every turn. Whilst its intentions are good and it is indeed free to play, the whole experience is an ugly mess. One Leaves lacks originality, consists of little more than lazy ideas and poor execution, and is chock-full of irritating performance issues. Sadly, because of this, the majority of its narrative gets lost in the midst of its frustrating methodology.

It also appears to be an Xbox One console exclusive title coming to only Xbox One and no other platforms will be receiving it. One Leaves is a first-person horror/mystery video game that tasks the player with escaping a nightmarish version of a high school. The twist is that the entire game appears to be part of the real cost (no smoking or anti-vaping) promotional campaign by the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Tobacco Products. This connection is almost impossible to tell from the game’s store listing but clicking on the small About Us link at the bottom of game’s official website brings up the following message. The ONE LEAVES game puts players to the ultimate test, where they will find out if they will be the one who’s lucky enough to escape. Sponsored by “The Real Cost,” the ONE LEAVES game is based on the fact that three out of four teens who think they’ll stop smoking… don’t. “The Real Cost” gives you what you need to know — real facts — so you can make your own decision. “The Real Cost” is brought to you by FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products. One Leaves is free to download and play but only for those in the United States right now. Given the FDA's connection, this region lock isn’t that much of a surprise. Not the best game around, but it's different and free and boasts an easy 1000GS for the achievement hunters out there. Expand

Made me start smoking a pack a day to deal with the stress. My kid saw me playing and asked could she play too. I told her it's not a game for kids but she started playing it on her own Xbox and now she's a chain smoker too and her little brother is in an iron lung machine. That's unrelated to tobacco he's never smoked, he just has polio. Anyway, One Leaves isn't a game I'd recommend. Gonna head out for a cigarette now. Expand

Glad it was free because boy that was a waste of time. I already knew how bad smoking is. Didn’t need to play a public service announcement dressed up like a game to find this out. Only thing I’ll give it is the level designs are interesting enough and have some reap creativity to and the music is actually really gpod despite this being nothing more than a lab rat in a maze type of game.
