    It probably isn't a game that you'll blast through in a single sitting and it certainly won't be for everybody, but Not A Hero is definitely a good deal of fun.

    Nevertheless, if you’re in the mood for a 16-bit Guy Ritchie style 2D shoot-em-up, you could do far worse than pulling the trigger on this one.

It made me want to touch your testicles.” Hello folks Brandon here, and that is one of the hundreds of insane lines you will hear from Bunny Lord in Not a Hero. Since last week nothing major came out I decided to download and give a shot the new game (to PSN) published by Devolver Digital. I must say they do not disappoint in the slightest. So let’s grab our shotguns and afterwards go to a diner for some celibately milkshakes.

    ​The story is weird, but quick to explain. Bunny Lord is an anthropomorphic rabbit from the future whose goal is to become mayor by cleaning up the town. How do you clean up the town? Quite simple actually you murder everyone who gets in your way. Now you do not play as Bunny Lord you play as an array of unique characters each with their own set of murder skills. To list a few you get Steve, Cletus, Mike, and Jesus. (Not Jesus but pronounced Hey-Zeus) The great thing about the story in this game is at no time does it ever feel like you are doing the right thing; which fits perfectly into the title because you are definitely not a hero. In fact you are if anything a mixture of the Punisher and the Joker, or at least Bunny Lord is. When you kill a gang leader they tend to beg for their life and Bunny Lord will brutally and without mercy kill them in the most 8 bit violent way you can see. I adore this because not only is this a very interesting take, but it leads for some funny ass dialog. I remember when I got more than half of the hostages killed in this one mission, and while celebrating at the diner for completing the mission Bunny Lord talks about how basically everyone makes mistakes, but oh well. I love a game that doesn’t give a **** about if you save everyone just as long as you slaughter the bad guys in the process. The story keeps up the crazy, but it is a text based so if you hate reading well just enjoy the gameplay.

    The gameplay is pretty amazing it is an 8 bit side scrolling cover based shooter. (If that isn’t a mouthful) The game is hard as **** with it all relying on your skill, memorization, and just overall good timing. As I already mentioned each character plays differently. They all use different guns and some have useful abilities such as reloading while running, or shooting through doors. What helps this game immensely is the fact that if you die (which you will) you respond instantaneously which can help against the losing rage. Just like games as Super Meat Boy if you die during the level in Not a Hero you must start the level over again. It can be frustrating, but the levels are only two minutes at a maximum. Sadly from what I can tell the game isn’t a very long game, but has the extra objectives to unlock new characters to add to the replay value. Saying that if you beat the game and unlock all the characters there isn’t much more to do. With levels being very liner this seems like a great game to play for a slow weekend.

    Overall with the game only being $15 you are better off saving you money. I praised it for gameplay and story which is fun and violent as hell the games length and content in general is just lacking. I’m definitely not saying to skip it by any means. I am saying wait for it to either go on sale for like $3 or become one of the PS Plus free games of the month. That is the best way to get this because this is the perfect game to play if you only have about 20 minutes to spare on it. I give this game a 3/5.    … Full Review »

    It's a fun, challenging 2.25D action shooter with cover mechanics. You unlock more characters as your progress through the game and each one has their own style of combat. The characters themselves are pretty great; Cletus has already become my personal favourite, ya numpties!

    The game's art direction is great. Strong pixel art design, cool looking levels, vibrant colours and great gore effects. I wish I could get the game's cover art on a t-shirt.

    The controls and combat are both pretty straight forward, so it's pretty easy to pick up and play, while also adding a bit of challenge to the game.

    The game is still on the short side in terms of play length, I was there were more levels that were larger in scale. I want to see more of this game because I find it that fun to play.

Fast action. Short and fast games. Challenge. Funny story. Jokes. Black mood. Jokes with high intellectual content. Double senses. References to pop culture. Many shots. Boss fights. Replayable maps. Four different endings. It includes an extra campaign where you drive directly to the Bunny Lord who rolls up the sleeves and does the dirty work. Highly recommended

    The bad: Very short. It may offend more than one

    Lo Meh: The Bunny Lord makes his own at the expense of people and their "friends" to try to govern as of place. Bunny Lord seems like a politician, only in British. The black humor that can make sensitive people cry.    … Full Review »
