Nine Parchments is an excellent co-op adventure game with a fantastic combat system, beautiful environments and a wonderful melodic soundtrack. There’s a lot to see and unlock, and just trying out different character and spell combos will take multiple playthroughs. This game will surely be a popular choice for group play.

Nine Parchments' playable ambition falls short of the artistic one, but it's a remarkable title and a must for dungeon crawler lovers.

Thankfully at times Nine Parchments does give me that same experience, but it does have a few shortcomigs that stop it from reaching its full potential. The gameplay has quite a few interesting mechanics that work well throughout the game and this without a doubt makes the gameplay very fun and addictive at the same time. The combat is fun at first but unfortunately it lacks fresh ideas and this makes things become repetetive, which is a shame. Nine Parchments is a game that thrives when played with friends and without a doubt this is the best way to enjoy this game. You can play the game on your own but it gets repetetive when played this way and you notice some of the game’s other problems when played alone. The biggest problem for me is that there isn’t much to explore and the areas you play in are a little linear in their approach, but thankfully you don’t notice this as much when you play with friends. My favourite thing about the game was without a doubt the characters that were present. Each character has had a lot of thought and effort put into them and there is great abundance of charm oozing from each character which means playing as any one of them is a very rewarding experience. As you can imagine I was expecting a lot from the story because the characters were so good, but that wasn’t the case. The story failed to pack a punch in my opinion and it just had a bland and generic setting throughout, which is a shame because they had the perfect base to make a very interesting tale. The presentation side of the game is perfect in every way and it delivers a lot of immersive flavour. Visually the game looks absolutely beautiful and when combined with the well worked sound design it makes the gameplay definitely stand out more. All in all Nine Parchments is a good game, but I can’t help feeling that it could have been a little bit better. If they would have eradicated some of the little niggling problems it has then you would be talking about a game that’s absolutely fantastic. Thankfully though what is present in the game does justify a recommendation from me because it did on more than one occasion provide me with a fun and very enjoyable adventure. Full Review »
