This is an bland, tasteless, and failed game with some of the greatest characters of Nickelodeon cartoons of the last decade on it. We expect this failure to not make anybody that Nickelodeon licenses have no future in games, because they are. Simply not this time.

I cannot possibly imagine who at Nickelodeon looked at this and thought ‘Yes, that’s the kind of quality we want representing our brand’. While some track layouts are okay and character models passable, everything else here feels half-baked, lazy or downright awful. Terrible handling, poor audio, and the range of characters and their lack of characterization, collectively make a mockery of the franchises.

There’s a decent amount of cart parts available to you and the customisation you can do to your cart gives the game some replaybility. The game is without a doubt best enjoyed when played with family and friends because it’s more fun and exciting when played this way. I found the difficulty curve to be spot on in the game and with the three difficulty choices it means the game is accessible to gamers of all ages. Despite there being 24 tracks in the game none of them really stand out because they lack in terms of variety. I was surprised to see that there were no online components included in the game and for me this does harm the replay value of the game quite a bit. When played for long periods the game does get repetetive quite quickly so I would recommend that you play the game in short bursts. Overall my children love Nickelodeon quite a lot so when I told them about Nickelodeon Kart Racers they were quite excited. Thankfully my children enjoyed the game despite the shortcomings it suffers with and if played for short bursts there is quite a lot of fun to be had. The reason I said short bursts is because it does get repetetive quite quickly and one of the main reasons why it gets repetetive quite quickly is due to the lack of variety present in each of the tracks. Thankfully though there is variety present in other areas and I found this to especially be the case when it came to the amount of customisation we could do to our karts. Another area of the game where there’s plenty of variety is in the game’s difficulty and being able to choose between three difficulty choices not only gives the game a little bit of replaybility but it also makes itself more accessible to gamers of all ages. At the end of the day then there are better racing game’s of this ilk available to you but despite this Nickelodeon Kart Racers still gets a small recommendation from me because it can be quite a lot of fun especially when played with family and friends.
