For the majority of Neversong I was constantly engaged, in awe of the weird and wonderful sights and tales being shown to me. Brush seems to be a master at crafting darkly engaging narratives that not only get you thinking, but leave an impression long after the credits roll. That warning at the start sets expectation perfectly, and while it may not be for everyone right now, you’d do yourself a disservice if this isn’t added to your library at some point down the line.

Neversong is complex, unusual, and unique - with its own style and composition bringing the whole experience together.

Neversong is a recommended title for those looking for a different experience. However, those looking for a pure platform game will have more complete titles.

It was formerly known as “Once upon a Coma” and underwent a Kickstarter campaign which led to the release of the game on May 20, 2020. Graphically I really like this game’s style, the visuals and animations look gorgeous. The characters may seem like they’re ripped out of a cartoon but the general tone of the game is much darker. Accessibility is also a strong point in Neversong, the controls are super easy to learn even if you don’t use a controller and prefer mouse and keyboard. This means you can enjoy the game no matter what skill level you’re at. Neversong took me about three hours to complete, but its message resonated with me for far longer. The title is short, sweet and gets to the heart of the matter without deviation. It's kind of game that you can talk about hours write about pages but also can't say anything total accurate because it's not about words It's what game made you feel and the immersive experience it provides. I highly suggest taking the time to play this game, a review won’t do justice for the game. Definitely check this one out on your Xbox One.
