Neverout isn’t all that challenging, which, for a puzzle game, doesn’t fare too well. Further to that, the game recycles its few tricks too often and rarely offers much clarity. That being said, the crux of its concept is certainly interesting enough to maintain traction, and its surprisingly low cost makes its drawbacks somewhat easier to bear overall. Bottom line? Neverout is a passable puzzler at best. Nothing more, and nothing less.

Neverout is to solve the gravity defying puzzles as you walk up walls, move around obstacles, jump off platforms and avoid deadly traps. TheNeverout is to solve the gravity defying puzzles as you walk up walls, move around obstacles, jump off platforms and avoid deadly traps. The main premise of the game is to escape or you're destined to "never get out". You have one goal, get out of each room presented to you. As you fall into an exit, you’ll drop into a new claustrophobic room which has only one puzzling exit. Each exit is obstructed by one of a number of different hazards. The puzzle-solving usually requires gravity or lack of, to reach the exit. As you approach a wall you can instantly begin to walk on it giving the room a new appearance as the whole room shifts and not just your view of the room. Blocks will fall in the direction gravity is pulling and creates new hazards. There are four zones to exit from, with 60+ rooms to escape. Some of these will take less than a minute to escape and some of them up to five or more depending on your analytical thinking. The content provided is great for the low price of admission. The controls in Neverout are dungeon crawler style and you move in set increments as the game play is grid based. When you approach a wall, pushing forward will cause the screen to darken momentarily as the room rotates and gravity takes place on cubes within the room. The controls work really well in Neverout and are easy to get to understand and execute well. Neverout is a well thought out and tricky puzzle game. Neverout offers a decent challenge and some of the puzzles are rather challenging which may take you a while to work out the solution for. Puzzle fans will love the challenge and casuals will enjoy the self paced experience. Neverout is certainly one to pick up if you like the puzzle genre and is a welcomed addition to the Xbox One family of consoles. Expand
