I loved the presentation side of the game because both the visuals and sound design create an experience that’s very realistic. There are a number of added features this time around and I must admit that I was pleased to see the inclusion of the inter-gender rosters. The controls feel much more improved this time around and they encourage you to be creative when playing the game which is great. In terms of content the game has a huge amount for you to get to grips with and the best thing is that most of the modes are worth trying out. The sound design is very good the commentary does get stale very quick and after a while you do end up becoming fed up of the commentary. I was a little disappointed to see that the Franchise mode hasn’t received any worthy updates. Does NBA Live 19 do enough to get a recommendation from me? I admit that I thoroughly enjoyed NBA Live 18 and I felt that last year they corrected a lot of mistakes they made in the past, so I definitely had a lot of interest when it came to NBA Live 19. Thankfully NBA Live 19 has built on the momentum that last year’s game created and in some ways they’ve improved further creating a deeper experience this time around. This deepness is felt straight away when it comes to the controls because this time around you can be more creative when playing and this does make your basketball experience more immersive. This year they’ve also included women players which is fantastic and on the whole you’ll notice much more content this time around. Thankfully most of the content is pretty impressive and even though it has a few issues here and there you’ll without a doubt still be impressed with your experience. At the end of the day then NBA Live 19 is a game that could really push the NBA 2K series this year and it’s not a one horse race any more when it comes to basketball game’s which is great because it will make both game’s go from strength to strength. The shooting system in this game, in terms of when you're not going up for a layup or dunk, is good, but is the shooting gauge really necessary? AMAZING AND BETTER THAN 2K 19. The man at GameStop told me Live might be able to compete with 2K next year. Thats A LIE, Live is competing with 2K right now. Very Fun Game. It feels like you're in the game. Live has room for improvement BUT its way more fun than 2K 19. I have both. 2K has a SHOT METER FOR LAYUPS! WHY? A layup is supposed to be easy. If you don't time the shot meter right, you miss easy layups. Thats ridiculous. A NBA player should not be missing layups left and right just because you don't release the shot meter at the right time. Thats not even realistic. In Live, you can get free clothes, shoes, accessories, celebrations, etc for free by just winning daily games. You don't have to buy VC in Live. Your player can be improved quickly and in a very fun way. You don't have to grind, its actually fun to improve your player. EA has created a basketball game with a VERY AGGRESSIVE FEEL. It doesn't matter what position you're playing, It doesn't matter if you're playing street ball or NBA rules. The game has a AGGRESSIVE FEEL. I've played basketball my whole life and now I am a Basketball Referee (official). The speed/flow of Live feels like real basketball. 2k 19 plays at a slower pace than real basketball. Also, The Live soundtrack promotes aggressive PLAY. Expand

    The One!

    - The One is the most fun Mode I’ve played in a bball game I’m a long, long time - The Streets World Tour; amazing visuals, 14 courts around the world, all star player per court, legend per court, 5 vs 5, 3 vs 3, different rules (rebounds with 2 points, assists with a point, various challenges) - The most realistic stadiums ever created in a video game - Great player

    - Great player movement with real foot planting and momentum (no ice skating or warping)
    - Great progression with no reliance on micro transactions
    - Cool new commentary team
    - The easiest and most responsive controls
    - Features for the franchise, season etc are barebones yes but this is the best bball game since two generations ago

I find it hysterical that this page is covered with 2K19 advertisements! Seriously though, I am not comparing this game to 2K anymore because it stands on its own now. Female CAP, Court Battles and improved fluid movements are more than enough for me to stay up too late lately playing Live 19. Keep it commin EA!

This will be a short review, but will provide the reasons for the score I have given.

I have supported NBA Live for many years, and have continued to try and provide as much support as possible, posting videos, constructive criticism, wishlists and feedback. So I'm by no means new to the series. I have been a long time supporter. With that said, I'll hit on the positives first. -

With that said, I'll hit on the positives first.

    - Gameplay
Without a doubt, this is the best "feeling" NBA Live game in a while. I love the new RPM, as it truly makes difference in the overall gameplay. Guys are moving like themselves, cutting, setting screens and generally playing to their strengths. The signature shots, etc are really well done, for those that have custom jumpers. Lebron runs like Lebron, stands like Lebron, shoots like Lebron. Some others though, arent' very well done. But the stars, for the most part are well done. The dribbling is a blast. Nutmegs, wrap arounds, etc, if you can think of something that you want to pull off, chances are, they will let you do it in game. That's not saying it'll be successful. I've tried nutmegs numerous times in the NBA portion but have been denied by defenders, so you have to pick and choose your spots.

    -The One
The One mode, if you're into that sort of game mode, is very well done. I've seen a ton of people on social media who are really enjoying what NBA Live offers here. I've seen some excellent clips and highlights, all which look great.

    -Court Battles

The new mode/implementation on The One. This should breathe some continual new blood into the game. This is where you come up with your own courts rules, and team to try to keep people from coming onto your home court and winning. You can create your custom court rules, which is pretty cool.

Now for the negative portions of the game. It's 2018, and these are the '19 iterations of games. In my mind, these games "should" be fully fleshed out and contain features that we seen in 2001-2002 titles. This is where Live continues to struggle, is providing the basic fundamentals of the NBA portion of the game. One of the biggest game modes that has not received the attention that it deserves, is franchise mode.

If you played Live 18, franchise mode was lackluster, and missing a ton of features that you would come to expect out of an 18 title. Competing against the juggernaut that is MyLeague and MyGM, which are shining examples of what a company can achieve when the resources are allocated, is a pretty large challenge. NBA Live 19 fails miserably here.

There is no editing within franchise mode. For those of you who like for your virtual nba to mimic that of the real nba, there is no way to change players shoes, accessories, jersey numbers etc once you start a franchise. They did allow a trading block and trade finder this year, which is one of the 2 improvements that they made year over year. The other improvement is allowing teams to have players "bird rights". There are also no ways to edit players jumpshots, or dribbling packages, layup/dunk packages, etc. So what they're assigned, you just have to deal with it. 2k gives you the ability to create any number of custom jumpshots, dunk packages, etc. Player attributes are editable outside of franchise, but tendencies are also nowhere to be found. This is also a glaring omission, as this hasn't been allowed since the implementation of synergy.

Franchise mode is bland, boring, barren... a great number of adjectives could be used to describe it. These are a good start.

In game, there are also no injuries. In every year that I play Madden, FIFA, NBA 2k, The Show, etc... There are always injuries that change the landscape of the league that it's mimicking. Injuries are a part of sports. This HAS to be implemented sooner rather than later. It's a huge part of strategy.

The plays and player/team tendencies are lacking big time. Players don't generally play as they do in real life, and teams don't play like their counterparts. The play system is extremely basic. Once a play breaks down, that's it. The AI doesn't adapt, etc.

The AI for the CPU is bad, and has the tendency to implement cheesy/cheating tactics to stay competitive. Just not a good experience.

Draft classes are poorly done, and there are no ways to edit incoming rookies. There are around 20 faces that are used over and over in each draft class, so after 2-3 years, all players start looking the same.

I buy my NBA titles each year, to sit down, relax and enjoy my own Virtual NBA World. Right now, only one title out there really caters to those gamers like me. This title, while it does have a lot going for it, and has made some huge strides, doesn't seem to have the single player NBA enthusiast even on their radar anymore.

If you're a social media influencer, or enjoy competing against Youtubers, you've came to the right place. However, if you covet an authentic NBA experience and enjoy a challenging AI, look elsewhere.

This game literally doesn't even try to be an NBA Game. This is Youtuber Live 19. Drop the NBA part if you aren't willing to put forth an effort on the NBA aspect. We've waited long enough for you to create an NBA game. NBA is an afterthought in this title.

Very very clonky gameplay. Just buy 2k, this basketball game is just so bad however not unplayable. There are some cool moments but the mechanics are just broken. Buy 2k, instead of this. You won’t regret it.

Is NBA Live 19 worth the money? Yes, indeed. There is a lot to do and no matter the skill level, there’s fun to be had. The upgrade to the WNBA and character creation is a giant step forward in widening EA’s audience and The One is strong enough to warrant its own title. With enough practice, anyone can be the baller they want.

On the whole, NBA Live 19 is definitely on the right path. It’s aesthetics are beautiful, both on and off the court especially in regards to its player models, which are stunning. The inclusion of the WNBA is a fantastic step forward that puts it’s a step above the 2K series. Unfortunately, the “story mode” feels very stale and just doesn’t compare to other sports game’s take on it.

NBA Live 19 is a good episode for the franchise with an immersive and fun gameplay. The game is pleasant and easy to handle, but the formula lacks of realism, gameplaywise, and the Career mod still needs some work to be a great success.
