The addition of the seamless mobile scanning app, shooting feedback system, Pro-Am modes, new animations and new gameplay mechanics all lends itself to about the best NBA Live experience we have seen in years.

NBA Live still has a long way to go to gain back all the basket lovers attention, but this surely is a good step in the right direction. Its main strengths are simplicity and ease of use, resulting in a good arcade game for people not wanting an overly complex gameplay.

NBA Live 16 is made to feel accessible and simple. At least that’s what the structure caters to. From in-game learning help to player development, it’s all mostly basic.

NBA Live 16 makes a number of well implemented adjustments to the gameplay, but the lack of completely new game modes, or even major additions to the existing ones, prevent NBA Live 16 from being a real slam dunk.

If you can tolerate the rough patches in presentation and gameplay, you can find a bit of quirky, arcade style fun in Live 16.

NBA Live 16 is yet another step in the right direction for the franchise, but it rather needs to jump forward. Still, it isn't a bad game, and some may find its simplicity a reason to choose it as its basketball game.

Given the sizeable quality gap that still exists between Live and NBA 2K, you wonder if other voices in the organization may say it’s time to cut their losses and move on.

NBA Live 16 is a bit better than his predecessor: the gameplay has been improved, but still suffers from a fluctuating AI and some delay in response to commands. Unfortunately some good changes and some additional game modes cannot make a great game.

NBA Live 16 is a fun game to play. That may in itself be an achievement for the series. However it has considerable deficiencies and a disappointing feature set that simply doesn’t measure up to the other major sports gaming franchises. Because it does not offer enough compelling content, and it excels in too few areas, Live 16 remains a tier below the premier sports games on the market today.

The gameplay still needs some work, especially on the defensive side, but at least those who lean toward offensive play have a few new weapons in their arsenal.

NBA Live made progress again, but it is still far behind his fantastic competitor NBA 2K16. See you next year!

As EA Vancouver had found quite a sane recipes for last year's game, we hoped that NBA LIVE 16 would have been worthy even if aimed at the arcade lover. In fact it's a disappointment chain with all the flaws we found last year are still present. Far from the awful opus of 2013, we still wish NBA Live 17 will give NBA 2K a run for its money.

NBA Live 16 can only go so far with clumsy controls holding it back.

Much to our chagrin, EA Sports has once again proven that they can’t make a quality basketball game. Like the Toronto Raptors, it is hard not to speculate how much more of a beating NBA Live can take before they just throw in the towel permanently.

We don't live in a sports game world where "definitely playable" is a testimonial. Gamers expect authentic sports experiences from head to toe, and a flawed-but-functional title just can't compete for their hard-earned cash when 2K's bulletproof NBA title will set them back the same sixty bucks.

NBA Live 16 is nice-looking and features some interesting modes, but sluggish and problematic gameplay prevents it from being up to par.

Nowhere near the level of 2K's NBA productions. [Issue#168, p.90]

After the atrocious game that was Live 14, and the slight improvement in 15, I just had a feeling that 16 would be great. 2K16 has tons of glitches and is simply overrated. A real consumer would buy both games, and have some variety. I thought that the Alley Oops in this game were really bad, that was until they patched it about 2 days after people noticed it as a big problem. Just like how they also fixed the free throw glitch A DAY after it became an issue. The animation is A LOT more fluid than last years. There aren't a lot of locked animations which improved the game a lot for me. There are tons of player set animations, for example Harden stirring the pot, or Westbrook doing his signature celebration. Prp-AM and Summer Circuit are really fun modes to play. It's not just something to play when you're bored, no you literally want to keep on playing. The only thing that I think would've further excelled this game would be ALL-STAR WEEKEND. THE *CLASSIC* NBA Live All-Star Weekend. I'm looking at a 5.2 for the user score right now. But this game deserves at least a 8.8 for the tons of improvement and the fact that they listened to us, the fans. It just so happens that we have a lot of followers in this world. Nobody in their right mind would buy 2K year after year, the repetitive product. Live is a big win for me, and I'll be playing this until Live 17 is released. A perfect 10 in my book. Full Review »

I love sim, but i wany to have fun as well, and i find a great balance of that with NBA Live. Though thier offline modes leave some to be desired, i cannot stop playing online Pro am, mostly when i have a team of like minded players. Great job EA, looking forward to nex year Full Review »
