Firstly, as everyone is aware the servers on this game year in year out are atrocious and virtually make the game unplayable at points as everything relies on being able to connect to the 2k servers. I've lost VC several times over the years because of these server issues and the my career, my gm, and other online aspects are completely ruined by shoddy servers. The gameplay itself is a drastic step back from last years promising debut on the new consoles. Defence in this years game is an utter joke as players move around like they're on ice or have no coordination at all. Even if you manage to stay in front of your man long enough, the shot clock cheese issue is as prevalent as ever. I cannot count the amount of times the AI has held the ball well beyond the 3pt line until there's under 2secs on the shot clock and they hoist up a prayer that goes in at an insane rate. But, the absolute worst part of the defensive side of the ball this year around is the success the AI has in making contact shots, in particualr mid range contact shots. Every guard and small forward with a high shot tendency will just hoist up mid range pull up after mid range pull up and they will drop at ridiculous percentage. No matter how much defensive pressure you put on those pull ups and how low you set their sliders at they still make these impossible shots. This brings me to my next point, the sliders seem to have no impact on the game at all from what I have gathered so far. As I said I lowered the cpu mid range tendency and mid range success all the way down to 15 on the PRO difficulty and they still refuse to miss these shots. On 2k14 I played on the All-star difficulty with simulation slider settings and didn't have much difficulty at all. On 2k15 I wouldn't dare play on All-star because I can just imagine how frustrated I will get. On the offensive end there are many issues I have found compared to last year as well. The new shot meter, while great in theory, takes alot of fun out of jump shooting at times as it's very difficult to get the perfect timing down. The new botched dunk system is quite dumb in my opinion as i puts guys with high dunk tendencies at disadvantages as they go for dunks when it clearly isn't on or when the defender decides to be a brick wall and prevent it. I believe the old system of just forcing a layup makes a lot more sense and is less frustrating that way as you still get a decent shot attempt instead of a turnover. As for driving inside I have noticed I rarely if ever get any foul calls even with the simulation settings on AI shooting foul tendency set at 85 and above. I have tried every way possible to draw fouls...quick breaks in transition, using a screen to get an open lane and drive at a late arriving defender, using pump and head fakes to get defenders out of the air. None of these approaches seem to work as I'm averaging about 6 foul shots per game with 12min quarters. A minor problem I encountered in 2k14 still exists this year in illegal screens. I enjoy running the pick and roll but the amount of moving screens can really kill the fun and most of them are when I have waited for the screener to get his feet set and then drive around him. Lastly, the my career mode has definitely seen improvements with better menu's and being able to sim any game you want (except playoff games). However teammate AI is still quite terrible as they lack any logic on both sides of the ball. They don't take wide open shots or when they do shoot they tend to make the shot much harder than it needs to be. They consistently brick easy looks as well whereas the opposition AI will kill you no matter how much defence you play on them. Players such as Jeremy Lamb and Rudy Gay (these 2 more than others I've noticed) become unstoppable attacking forces in the my career mode. Players like those 2 with very high shooing tendencies and decent jump shot attributes can't be stopped or even contained, especially by your teammates. Unless some of these issues are patched I can't say this game is anything better than mediocre. The presentation as it always has been in the 2k series is stellar, whether that be the commentary, new pre game show, halftime and full time interviews, the terrific visuals. But when it comes down to what we are buying this game for, the GAMEPLAY, it has taken a large step back in the progress made from last years version. Expand

Great NBA game, but a game is only good when you can play. I have had server go down during trades, used VC to bribe and on return find that VC taken and trade didn't go through. Pre-order code hasn't worked either

With 2k14 and now 2k15 with same server issue, lost all confidence this will be fixed quickly. Will move back to EA NBA Live 15 when released.

I would say about 1 out of 3 myCareer (single-player mode) my connection drops and it kicks me out of the game. It doesn't save progress either, so you have to play the whole game over again. I have been in the last minute of a blowout, having the best game of my career and the connection drops for a second and boom, back to the main menu, all progress lost. I am so completely sick of this **** I literally want to burn the disc. Put it in a bag and light it on fire.

How many years can 2K get away with this?

The graphics are good, the commentary and presentation are top-notch, the animation is a mixed bag gameplay animation is mostly nice, (everything else is mostly abysmal), gameplay is a mixed bag of good and bad Trying to stay between you man and the basket is pretty frustrating at times, but I find if I just play super conservative it's never too bad.

But none of this matters because the online fiasco completely ruins the entire experience.

I am about to make a video of this where you'll attempt a layup and your guy starts to fail so bad even with a on fire rythem where his layups litterally dont even lift an inch off of your hand while the shots not even contested, if anyone shot like this in the NBA they would be kicked out immedietly. This built in system to make it so players cannot excel and receive a FG% of about 65% with any more than 40 points makes it so i can only really play the game for the first quarter and a half of the game and than because i have 36 minutes on the field i have to sit through the rest of the game picking up turn overs, missed shots, and overall frustration and anger not to mention wasting 20+ minutes of my time per game. Between server issues, skating on defense and the stripped down to nothing online leagues, 2k sports continues to disapoint its loyal fan base. As a much hyped and visually beautiful game, it underwhelms in gameplay and the functionality of its game modes. 2k continues its well established practice of over promising and under delivering. Buyer beware.

Really? 2 weeks? I just got done reviewing World of Wacraft and they got HACKED during launch, fixed the issues within 3 days and STILL reimbursed their subscribers. I scoured the internet and couldn't even find a public apology from 2K Sports.

You'll find throughout this detailed review that I refer to the fact that I "paid $60 for a roster update". (Kevin Love is STILL on the Timberwolves though so it's not even that)

Creating a Player: This looks and feels exactly like 2k14 on my xbox 360. They act as though every NBA player in history falls under the 8 or so player traits that determine your starting stats. Noses and other facial features still look slightly off to me since 2k14 and, GET THIS, the same tattoos as the previous 2 games because the thousands of players throughout history all used the same recycled 99 tattoos.

Playing as the Player: Guarding a superstar is incredibly hard as a rookie, No that's not a bad thing! Finally Kobe walks all over me if I guard to close or too far behind like he damn well should. The actual ball movement among computer players is better (From 2k14 it literally couldn't have been worse aside from them just standing around) The most annoying this I found is that the Draft, The GM Interviews, and the After-Game Interviews utilize the EXACT SAME VERBIAGE AS THE PREVIOUS 2 GAMES. Back to me paying $60 for a roster update....

Throughout any game you play you're going to have Clark Kellogg, Steve Kerr, and Doris Burkes saying the SAME STUFF IN EVERY GAME. I quit 2K.

I don't need to go into the Server connect issues that still plague the game despite what should have been a 2 week launch date wake up call for 2k Games.

Top it off with Pharrell Williams very biased soundtrack and I will not be playing this game that I paid $60 for. Get Michael Jordan to pick the soundtrack in 2015 (He's obviously throwing the Space Jam soundtrack in there) and you've got me back.

-It's a very good simulation on the harder difficulty settings. Trying to force plays against the AI inevitably ends up working out just like it would in a real NBA game.

-You can skip through MyCareer cut scenes after the first play through. I only played the PC version last year (which had a stripped down version of MyCareer mode), but it was definitely aggravating having to sit through stupid interviews after every game.

    Cons

-The server connectivity sucks. In the first place, why the hell do I have to be connected to the network just to upgrade my player in MyCareer? And on top of that, I can't even spend my VC 60% of the time because it can't connect. Talk about annoying. I'm sure the connectivity issues will be hammered out in time, but it shouldn't even be necessary in the first place.

-The lack of customization options in MyCareer is disappointing. No way to edit my starting stats? Seriously? Maybe I'm just missing something, but that's pretty annoying. Also, as usual, your player starts out rated way too low. It's virtually impossible to do anything at the higher difficulties when your guy can barely make a layup. A guy this bad wouldn't make the high school JV team, much less an NBA squad. I feel like the developers do this on purpose to try to make you buy VC. Lame.

Overall, I have to say that this is easily the best game of the NBA 2K series so far. I only played the PC version last year, so I don't know how much this is improved over last year's console versions, but it's definitely a worthwhile upgrade from the PC.

If 2k hadn't changed what i have found success in the past i wouldnt be writing this review. I have always been a guy that tries to create turnovers and take the ball to the basket unlike a lot of people that have been shooters. 2k has upped the defensive intensity and your ability to make shots even ones that are "layups". This has in turn led to a greater ability to shoot an open shot whether it is in the post or out on the wing. For most people you might like this. But the fact is it is easier to shoot a jay then to take it to the basket. I haven't found much success just in the gameplay. My favorite mode has always been myteam and they ruined that. You now have to get contracts for a number of games and there really isn't a simple upgrade system like last year where you can put signature skills on players. This is turn leads to opponents having dominant players like lebron , kd, or good shooters like mike miller running games instead of a team system. It doesn't feel like a basketball game to me. The only good part is mycareer and mypark for some people but it takes a lot of vc to upgrade your player. If your cool with just mycareer where your locked into one player you'd probably rate this a 10. There is no good team game in this game so for me I'm gonna have to wait til next year to get what I want.
Visually this game is outstanding. i think it is the only thing they worked on unlike their servers.
A sidenote are the servers. They suck just like last year so have fun hoping nba 2k is available to play. I haven't had problems for about a week but its happened numerous times.
If you get this game and enjoy it, that's awesome. For me, 2k has ruined what was once my favorite game to play for several years.

As a huge fan of the MyCareer mode, it was a refreshing change of pace with this game and the story that unfolds. The online experience is fantastic and overall the game-play is tremendous. The online experience is fantastic and overall the game-play is tremendous. The graphics are simply unbelievable. The only recurring issue I have with these 2K games is simple and probably just my own problem that I need to get over, but it's how the players on my team run the floor. I constantly find myself screaming at the screen, (yes, I'm one of those guys), yelling at players to run to the hoop on the fast-break rather than out to the perimeter when I pass them the ball on a 3-on-1 break. That drives me crazy. All-in-all, that's not a significant flaw at all in the grand scheme of things. Another thing is that a crossover move will get derailed by an opponents legs or feet and more often than not it will not be called a kicked ball as it should. That can be overcome by simply being careful with the ball! The players themselves are well matched with their abilities in real-life so there are no surprises there. If you watch the NBA at all, you know exactly what you're getting from a particular player on this game. The 2K franchice keeps getting better and better each year. Expand

this is a great game the gameplay is so much more improved they made the lower rated players actually able to contribute and the graphics are unbelievable in my career for big men the rebounding is so much more improved the things I don't like are everything costs way too much why should and arm sleeve cost 1000 vc the face scanning is donkey **** it is virtually impossible.

The worst NBA 2K game I have ever played your character always gets stuck in animations, all of your teammates in My Career play like they don't know what Basketball is, Even if you hit the line for a perfect release for a shot it will jump to either side of it and won't be a perfect release. I am severely disappointed in the makers of this game.

Great game....... player models are stunning, you can see the sweat pouring down their faces..... myCareer took a huge step, I actually feel somewhat connected to my character........ online lag issues persist, but don't take away from most of the experience........ myGM and myLeague are awesome new association modes, allow even more control........ definitely worth it

The best NBA 2k in years, definitively a next-gen experience, fun modes, fun dunks, decent physics, but a bunch of glitches. Overall, great basketball game.

I've played 2k15 for some time now and i've noticed that 2k15 purposely cheats for the computer so you can lose. I don't know its some type of thing to make the game more challenging, but i have notice the game starts to become unfair for the player, players begin to fatigue and shots won't fall. Expand

Love this game. I have never even watched much basketball until I played 2k. I love the GM mode in this game, only mode I play. Love the graphics, dunks, alley oops, and all that goes with it. The last 3 NBA 2K games to come out have been pretty much the same when it comes to the absolute cheese fest this series has become. But this game takes the cake for being complete crap. 2K has server issues, we all know that. The player you use feels like he is being dragged through mud. Online play with anymore than 2 people is utter garbage. The Park feature? If you are the most patient person in the world you won't mind it. It takes FOREVER to get into a game that lags. I've been buying these games since 2K9 and I am seriously considering never buying another one. I should say this though, I will never buy NBA Live lol Expand

Overall, it’s hard to find any issues that can’t be overcome when it comes to calling NBA2K15 a complete package.
