Nascar Heat 4 well feels largely to me like a rehash of last years game with a few twaeks and user interface changes. I found the AI to be vastly improved this time around and without a doubt the more realistic approach they’ve implemented in the AI makes racing that little bit more fun. There isn’t a massive improvement when it comes to the presentation side of the game, but it still does a little bit more than the previous games in both the visual and sound design. The driving physics feel much better than they did in NASCAR Heat 3 and this without a doubt made racing more satisfying. There’s more depth this time around and the newly added content not only gives the game more replay-ability but it will also bring new fans to the table. The load times are much shorter this time around and technically the game holds up well for the most part with fewer problems present. There’s still not much in terms of the customization you can do in the base game. I was a little disappointed with the career mode because it didn’t have the amount of depth I expect. The collision damage is better nut unrealistic and does ruin the immersion some. Does NASCAR Heat 4 do enough to get a recommendation? NASCAR Heat 3 was a big improvement over the original game and I was looking forward to where the game would go next, so I did have quite a bit of interest in NASCAR Heat 4. After playing it for a while I did realize that there are some improvements over last year’s game. These improvements are mostly found in the more realistic AI and the better feeling physics, but despite these improvements I still couldn’t shake the feeling that it still felt a lot like last year’s game. Don’t get me wrong that isn’t a bad thing because I did enjoy NASCAR Heat 3 it’s just I wanted a little bit more from this game and instead what I got is a new career mode that still needs work and the collision damage still feels very unrealistic. That being said NASCAR Heat 4 is still a decent game and if you’re a fan of the NASCAR series then there’s more than enough here to keep you satisfied for quite a while and it also does more than enough to get a recommendation fro me. A huge improvement over NH3. It feels like they have polished most of the gameplay and features they have been building for the past few games. The driving is more realistic and tighter. The audio is top-notch and makes you feel very immersed. There are still some gameplay bugs that have not been completely fixed and the content for the game is still not as much as it can be. For a yearly release based on one of the biggest racing franchises, NASCAR Heat 4 on Xbox One doesn’t quite do it justice and even though those wanting a functional racer will find enough to be going on with, there aren’t many reasons to pick this over any other racer on the market.

I have to be completely honest, I spent 98% of my time with Career Mode. I enjoy Career Mode the most in the Nascar Heat series and feel that overall it's generally a solid experience. This time around though, I'm not sold on the overall racing experience of Career Mode, which leaves me somewhat disappointed. My standards are usually very high for video games I know very well and I had high hopes that Nascar Heat 4 would be a great sequel. Now, I'm not even sure that this sequel is worth while knowing the main part of Nascar Heat 4 feels like an afterthought. I'm gonna go into the pit stop for a while and think about this.

NH4 is still fun to play, but there just isn't enough newness here to make upgrading to this version a necessity. If you own, love and still play NH3, I'm not sure you'll find NH4 a must-have for your collection.
